Werewolf
Rejected Their Broken Luna Chapter 203: Chap-203*He Is Acting Weird*
Cynthia Dion:
"I'm not finished yet. From now on, you'll be sleeping in your room alone. Cynthia and Mr. Holt are to keep their distance from you," Atticus declared, and she gasped. I noticed Mr. Holt only frown a little as if he was acknowledging everything but was waiting to understand it better.
"What? You want my partner, the father of my child, to steer clear of me? You think he'd harm his own child?" She spat angrily, disbelief etched across her face. She didn’t even want to believe any evidence against him. If she were to accuse me so bluntly, she should also remember that even in her words, I was the instigator. It was her own mate who performed all those heinous acts upon her.
"He's done it before, hasn't he?" I interjected, redirecting the focus to me. Her attention shifted, and she pointed accusingly.
"And who pushed him to do that? You did!" she raised her voice, glaring at me. As If that would give Mr. Holt a pass.
"How? Do you think seduction justifies a crime?" I countered, and Mr. Holt started to frown. He probably caught on to what I was attempting, and it didn't sit well with him.
"Seduction isn't the only thing; you've hypnotized hi---," she began before Mr. Holt cut in.
"Let’s not delve into all this for now. She had a wild night and needs rest," he thought he was being clever, but Maleeka's next words were exactly what Atticus and I were waiting for.
"Wait! Hypnotism?” Atticus hunched forward, letting them know he had heard it. I was a bit loss for words. She was thinking I had hypnotized him?
“If that's the case, then you should definitely steer clear of Mr. Holt. Who knows, he might get hypnotized again," Atticus struck at the right time.
As soon as he mentioned that Mr. Holt could get hypnotized again, Maleeka fell silent and moved away from him.
"What? This is absurd! I want to be with her and cherish every moment of this pregnancy with her," now that his plan was failing, he protested aggressively. Until now, he was just enjoying watching us all argue.
"Do you care more about your enjoyment or her safety?" Atticus leaned over, awaiting Mr. Holt's response.
He obviously cared more about his enjoyment but couldn't admit it.
"I think this is the best option," Maleeka intervened, making the best decision. "Babe, I trust you, but hypnotism has made you do things in the past. How do we know you won't do it again?" She got on her knees, cupping his face lovingly.
Now it all made sense. There had to be something he used to make her believe he was hypnotized.
"So it's settled, Mr. Holt and Cynthia!" It was part of our plan to avoid alarming Maleeka when Atticus mentioned only Mr. Holt. "You two will stay away from Maleeka until the baby is born, and in the meantime, I'll investigate this case myself," Atticus' decision made Mr. Holt swallow his fear of getting caught.
We were no longer on the defensive; we planned to fight back. Leaving Mr. Holt in the living room, Atticus took Maleeka to her bedroom while I stayed behind, keeping my distance. Since I knew Atticus had some stuff to do, I decided to go back to my bedroom and wander into the bathroom.
"Thanks for everything," I expressed gratitude once again when we were in the bedroom. Atticus headed to the bathroom for a shower and to get ready for bed after calming his sister down when Mr. Holt's belongings were moved to the guestroom. I had already showered and was going to bed when Atticus entered the room.
"You need to stop thanking me so much," he smiled, grabbing boxers to wear after his shower.
"Oh! We didn’t talk about Thea. What did she tell you?" He remembered the pending conversation and sat down with me.
"She told me what happened and how she ended up doing all those messed-up things. Atticus, she's innocent. Mr. Holt played a very dirty game with all of us, including Thea. The excuse he used to make Maleeka believe her is actually Thea’s truth. He hypnotized her," as I mentioned that, Atticus vigorously nodded.
"I had a feeling he was up to something," he mumbled, covering his face in his hands.
"Yeah! He did all that to get rid of Maleeka’s pregnancy, but I don’t know why. Why would a man do that to his own babies? And if he hated Maleeka this much, why doesn’t he just leave her?" I asked the questions while Atticus remained silent.
"Do you think maybe it's because he wants the power?" I inquired, and he stayed silent again. "Atticus! What's going on? Why are you so silent?" I repeated my question, and he uncovered his face.
"I'll go take a shower now," he didn’t comment and left for the bathroom.
I frowned as I watched him leave. What was that response?
"Weirdo!" I grunted, pouting angrily. I told him such a big thing, and he wanted to take a shower?
He disappeared while I stayed in bed, waiting for him to come out so I could ask him what it was all about. After a few minutes, he emerged wearing only black boxers. He shook his head, splashing water everywhere, and apologized with a gesture.
He didn’t use any towels, even though it was a cold night. I had prepared a harsh tone, but his sight softened my heart.
I don’t know where I would be without him. He had redeemed himself. He began to adjust the pillow on the couch when I cleared my throat to get his attention.
"You can sleep here in the bed. There's plenty of space," I stated, watching him slow down for a moment and then regain speed. He was quickly setting the blanket down to sleep on the couch.
"Atticus! I said something," I got out of bed once his actions concerned me. Something was up, and I needed to find out.
