Cynthia Dion:

"Cynthia! Calm down," Mr. Holt intervened, positioning himself between us to defuse the situation. She was shaking from our encounter, and Mr. Holt was restraining me and keeping me away from her.

"What the heck!" I heard Atticus approaching his sister to comfort her, hugging her tightly to his chest. His eyes displayed a level of anger I had never seen before as he glared at me.

"How dare you even lay a hand on my sister?" The moment he pointed his finger in my face and said that, something inside me snapped.

"And your sister is free to treat me poorly whenever she pleases? After wishing me misery, she poured the liquid on my face. She can abuse me, but I can't defend myself?" I yelled right back at him. I didn't hold back, feeling a surge of power as I stared directly into his eyes. He appeared taken aback.

"Enough!" Mr. Holt said, gripping my arm and attempting to calm me down. "She's unwell now and doesn't understand what she's doing."

"No, not me. I'm just saying she deserves it. She earned it by being physically aggressive with me," they stared at each other and then at my face in response to my words.

"Zeon!" Atticus closed his eyes and turned away from me, struggling to contain his anger. "Take her away before I choose violence as well," he said.

I snarled fiercely, my body filled with conflicting emotions as my head started to throb. "This won't be the first time," I muttered.

I was on the verge of losing my patience.

"Cynthia!" Mr. Holt eventually grabbed my arm and pulled me away before things could escalate further.

"What the heck were you thinking?" he kept asking me as he led me to the car. Even as he placed me in the passenger seat and began driving to the hospital, I remained silent the entire time.

Now that I had calmed down, I said, "I don't know what happened back there."

I was experiencing strange sensations. It didn't even feel like me; it was as if someone else had taken control of my body.

"It's alright," he said, keeping his eyes on the road. "Sometimes we lash out when we've had enough of someone's nonsense."

"No, it's not just that," I tried to explain further, but he was determined not to believe anything I said.

"It was like my wolf woke up inside me, but she was acting differently, as if she were following someone else's lead or--" He interrupted me again with a throat clearing.

"I said it happens. Just calm down," he said, but this time he appeared rather stern, so I dropped the subject. Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone to discuss my concerns with, someone who could help me understand why I was so upset and why I had snapped.

I felt nothing but emptiness--no parents, no friends, no mate.

I turned my face to the side as a large tear rolled down my eye, hiding my discomfort. We were at the hospital for only a short while, and after the test was done, the doctor instructed Mr. Holt to pick up the results the next day.

"We're heading home," I tried to ask him, but he received a call from someone and got busy, walking away from the car and gesturing for me to get in.

I entered the car behind him and sat down. We were still in the hospital's parking area, presumably on our way to my house. Amidst the chaos in my life, I hadn't seen Flora in a while, but now that I was feeling better, I longed to be with someone who genuinely loved and cared for me.

"So, let's go home now," he said as he got into the vehicle and turned the key.

"Home? Are we going to see Flora?" I asked in a hushed tone.

"Not right now. Didn't you catch the conversation at breakfast? The future Luna Queen has been invited, and you want to spend the day with your sister?" He seemed quite irritated as he reminded me that I needed to be prepared for her arrival.

I muttered, feeling my veins surging with emotion. "I don't want to do anything for her."

"Why not?" He had no qualms about teasing me whenever he had the chance. "Is it because she's now your beloved Atticus's mate?"

I explained, feeling a bit overwhelmed by this sudden change in myself, "Because we had a falling out."

"Cynthia!" He seemed to be holding back when he addressed me. "Calm down," he urged, and then warned, "I want this dinner to go smoothly. Don't make me do something you'll regret later."

"Then tape Maleeka's mouth shut," I instantly fell silent to prevent myself from getting into more trouble.

He drove me back to the mansion, where Maleeka and Atticus were waiting for us in the garden. I despised the sight of Atticus, but I had no choice but to face him.

"You guys are still here?" Mr. Holt stepped out of the vehicle and noticed them eating their fruits.

"We were discussing a few matters," Atticus explained, and then without thinking, he added, "Your wife needs to apologize to her."

No matter what was happening, I couldn't seem to control myself from saying things I wouldn't normally say until I was pushed to react. "I won't," I stated firmly.

Atticus shook his head and chuckled, his taunt carrying an underlying warning, "For someone marked as a rogue, she's quite spirited."

It was a subtle threat, a reminder of the mark on my neck, warning me to be careful with my actions.

"Come on, we're all ears," Atticus muttered, reclining in his seat. It was in that moment that I realized I had been a fool. Instead of relying on these alphas, I should have trusted myself or even faced death.

"I apologize," my words were devoid of emotion, and my heart felt empty. There would come a day when they'd all apologize to me, but by then, I'd be as cold as ice.
