"What did you say?" Zeon expressed, shocked when hearing her concern.

Did she really think he was capable of killing her? Did she really think of him as an animal enough to kill someone?

It surprised and unsettled him at the same time.

"Are you going to do something bad to me?" she proceeded to ask him while tears ran down her cheeks.

That moment was the moment of realization for him.

He never intended to hurt her. He was just making sure she didn’t leave until he told her what he felt.

"No! No! EVA NO!" He yelled in desperation, "Before even laying a finger on you, I’d end my life," he rested his hands on the tree and brought his face closer to hers.

"I didn’t bring you here to hurt you. I brought you here to let you know how much I’m hurting," As his tone softened and his eyes were filled with mist, she realized he was suffering and had used the wrong way to express his emotions.

"I’m sorry that I did that. I shouldn’t have stolen the chance of making a decision from you, but I -- I was afraid you would not want to listen to me again," he was crying and watching her eyes.

"Then untie me," she demanded, now that she knew he would never hurt her.

"Okay!" He finally understood that he could not force her to listen to him. He must give her a chance, and if she doesn’t want to listen to him now, he will keep trying until she does.

The moment he untied her from the tree, she slapped him as hard as she could.

He didn’t respond to the slap because he knew he deserved it. He only stood there and lowered his face.

"Now talk," her words made him lift his face up and stare at her.

"You wanted me to listen to you, right? So I’m listening," she bobbed her head, folding her arms over her chest and fixating her attention on his face.

There was a smile covering his lips when he heard her, ready to hear him out.

"I made a huge mistake when I chose money over you. I thought that was what I wanted and needed. Growing up, I suffered alone. I was not only an orphan, but someone who got mistreated by his own uncle. I tried raising voice but-- nobody heard me. They thought, How can a beta boy be -- - ra--," he paused when the memories rushed into his head.

"Zeon," Eva instantly knew what he meant.

"Those people you thought my parents were my father’s friends. They took me in when my parents died and made sure they use m--," he couldn’t even finish what he wanted to say.

Eva hugged him instantly and sat him down. She knew he wanted to speak to someone; he wanted someone to hear him out, and she was all ears now.

He told her all about his struggles and how everybody was so unfair to him because he didn’t have money to buy them gifts or anything they could take advantage of.

Hence, nobody helped him.

"I thought maybe money was all I needed to be happy in my life. Maybe money will be able to get me the protection I needed growing up, but I was wrong. I was wrong because the moment I saw you with your new boyfriend, my body was set on fire. I thought it would be easy to move on from you, but it wasn’t. Now the same money makes me vomit because it reminds me of how I let go of you. I’m miserable without you. I don’t want this money or anything. I only want you," his sobs turned louder as he expressed his heart to her.

She felt his pain and realized he wasn’t faking it.

"My boyfriend? I don’t have a boyfriend," she said, knowing who he had mistaken for her boyfriend.

"There is no need to hide it. I know it is Jacque," He sniffed, cleaning the tears from his face and watching her face with sadness-covered eyes.

"He -- you silly boy!" She slapped her forehead and smiled widely at him, "He is not my boyfriend. He is my friend. He is Bonnie’s boyfriend," once she explained to him the whole dynamics of her relationship with Jacque, he understood it.

"So, you are not dating anyone?" He asked with hopeful eyes, and when she nodded, he let out a sigh.

"Can we still be together? Can we forgive me?" He held her hands desperately and looked into her eyes.

"Yes we can," she didn’t want to punish him because he had already been punished by suffering alone.

The two hugged it out and spent a lot of hours together.

They have decided to mate now that both have turned 18.

But Zeon had some other plans to work on first.

The next day in school came with a lot of surprises for everyone. Maleeka saw Zeon coming out of a bus, and it shocked her.

"Zeon! Where is your car?" She approached him and asked him in worry.

"Did it break down? Do you want a new model?" she started asking him before he could even respond to her.

"No! I sent it back to your home in the morning," he replied to her while staring her right in the eye.

"Why?" she feared to hear his answer. "You haven’t been responding to my calls or texts too," she added once she found it weird.

She thought she had won him over. Then what happened--that he changed overnight?

"I was busy," he replied.

"Busy where?" she asked in confusion.

A little anger was filling her veins, but she was still holding herself calm.

"You will know," he added, and then walked away from her instead of staying with her.

By this time, she knew something was 101% wrong.

She rushed after him into the school, but he had already made his way to Eva.

Who was also caught off guard when she saw Zeon not caring about being seen with her?

"Hey!" she awkwardly spoke, watching him smile at her.

"I, Zeon Holt, the beta of the pack, accept Eva as his mate," without any further delay, he accepted her as his mate.
