Sarahs POV

I woke up several hours later, and the moon was out. Ray was sitting at his desk in the room's corner, reviewing paperwork. He was rubbing his temples like his head was hurting. I got out of bed as quietly as I could. I walked up behind him and started rubbing his temples.

" You know, young lady, you are supposed to stay in bed," he said, grabbing my hands and holding them against his head.

" I know, but I wanted to help you, and this is the only way I can help you," I stated.

He gently pulled me around to the front of him and pulled me into his lap. I fell very ungracefully, but he caught me.

" Your scent is enough comfort," he stated.

That made me squeal with happiness. I was so glad that just being me was enough for him. He held me for a while, and we just forgot about everything. I leaned down to kiss him, and he pulled me closer. Then, there was a knock on the door. It was Caleb and Chrissy. I immediately jumped up and ran and hugged her. I was excited that they were mates.

They excused themselves and left the room. I then went back and got ready for bed. I had a feeling that things were going to change in the morning. I wanted to be prepared for it. It did not seem long before Ray returned and got into bed with me.

" What was that about?" I asked.

" There are some things I need to tell you, princess," he stated.

" Oh" was all that I could say.

He then explained to me the legend behind the lost clan. One of them attacked me, and he did not know why or what the outcome was supposed to be. Then he explained to me that Donald had a daughter who I knew. I told her that Ruby had said that her niece was there. He was surprised that Ruby already knew. He told me we had less than two days before the witches' attack.

He had already sent a warrior to summon the warriors from the kingdom to come here. They would arrive in the morning. He wanted to spend the evening with me and the pups. He also told me that the pups would be moved to the secured room and that the nannies would be there as well.

He told me that I would be kept at the back of the soldiers and that at any time he felt things were getting too bad, he would mind-link one of the warriors and tell them to get me to the secret room. I agreed to this. I knew he was doing what was best. The last row of defense were the warriors, who weren't as experienced as the other warriors. They were fresh out of the academy and kept at the back.

He went on about the battle plans, which I did not understand, including where he was going to position everybody. Then he asked if I thought it was a good plan. I said yes. I had no idea about the battle. I was just going to do what was needed. If I was needed in the infirmary, then that was where I was going to be. I knew there were going to be a lot of injuries.

Already, makeshift hospitals have been built. He also said that he was going to interrogate the Lycan that attacked me. I was glad I was not going to be part of that. Interrogations can get messy and bloody. I did not want to be part of it. I was the queen, and that was no place for me. Ray was always part of the interrogations. That was his job. I'm sure he could have others do it, but he wanted to be sure to get the information that he wanted and or needed.

After he finished talking, he pulled me close. Tonight was going to be the last night that we would be able to cuddle for a while. It depended on how long this war was going to go on. He gave me a massage and kissed me. We did not make love again. We were just enjoying each other's company. It wasn't long before we fell asleep in each other's arms. A loud bang woke us up.

The war had begun. We both jumped out of bed, and I ran to the nursery. The nannies were already getting the pups buddled up and heading to the secret room. I quickly kissed each one and let the nannies take them. It wasn't long before Brittany and Caleb burst through the door. Behind them were Donald, Izzy, and Juanita. They were breathing heavily.

" Your majesty, we need to get you into the secret room they have come for you," Donald said as he pointed to me.

Why do they want me so badly? They hadn't learned that there was no way they would get to me. Ray and the whole pack would not let that happen. I know that I'm a hybrid. Both of my parents are lycans. A witch cast a spell that bonded with my DNA. I did not want that to happen, but I did help her escape. I did not want her burnt at the stake. A lot of witches meet their deaths that way.

The other way to kill a witch is to behead them. That is what will have to happen now that they are attacking. We had been at peace for a long time with them.

" Why are they attacking?" I asked Donald as he was escorting me to the secret room.

"Zorro has brainwashed them," he stated.

I thought they had killed him. I had not been told everything, probably because they did not want me to worry. There was absolute chaos around us. Witches were flying on broomsticks and throwing fireballs. A witch tried to drop a tree in our path. I fired a fireball, hit one of their broomsticks, and then a dragon set her on fire. I had forgotten that the dragons were fighting with us.

We got to the entrance of the secret room, and Donald threw me in and locked the door behind him. I could hear that bars were being placed across the door, which meant that it was protected by magic. The pups were fussing, and the beams started to rumble. The nannies quickly got them to calm down. I stood by the door, ready to attack anyone who would burst through. I could hear screaming all around us, and I knew the weather had started changing.

I then remembered what Donald said during one of our training sessions. If I focused, I could control the weather without seeing it. So I focused all my energy on the outside and started to rain down, lighting on the witches and their camp. I could not see them, but I knew I was helping. Fewer brooms were flying around the building. The dragons were able to start attacking them. I could hear growling, which meant that lycans were attacking.
