Sarahs POV

I woke up that morning and Ray was already gone. I know he kissed me on the forehead before he left. But I did not know what time it was at that moment. I rolled over and went back to sleep. I woke up some time later. Nina was already in the room waiting for me to wake up. She had opened the curtains and was preparing a bath for me.

I got up and got undressed and got into the bath tub. The temperature of the water was perfect. I soaked in the bath for a while. I then went to the closet and picked out some clothes for the day. I choose to wear a dress today. It was a dress that I didn't care if it got dirty or destroyed.

We went downstairs to the kitchen. Mike had breakfast all ready for me. It was eggs, bacon and hash browns. Nina stood off in the corner at first.

"Nina, have you eaten yet?" I asked.

" No, your majesty. I am a slave, and we don't get to eat unless you leave food on your plate," she stated.

That made me sad. But that was about the truth of the matter. Slaves were treated horribly. I knew exactly what she ws talking about.

" Nina, come get you a plate and eat some breakfast with me." I stated.

" Are you sure?" she asked.

" Yes, I'm sure," I stated.

Mike fixed her a plate of food. He brought it to her. She scarfed it down in minutes. She told me she hadn't eaten in a few days. When Dr. Bernard came to give me a check-up. I will also have him check her as well. Where are her parents working today? I hadn't heard where they were assigned.

" Mike, where are Nina's parents working today?" I asked the cook.

" They are working in the main hall, your majesty," he responded.

"Have they eaten?" I asked.

" No, your majesty, they have not. They refused to eat." he stated.

" Go get them and make them a plate." I stated.

He then left the kitchen and returned a few minutes later with them. I didn't even know their names.

" Yes your majesty," they both said in unison.

" Are you hungry?" I asked them.

" Yes." they responded.

" Good, sit down and eat." I stated.

They, too, scarfed down their food in less than a minute. I made a note to myself that from now on the servants were going to eat before we got up. There was no reason they should starve. That was something I will bring up to Ray later this evening. After they finished their second helping, we sat there a minute to let our food settle.

" What are your names," I asked.

"I'm Shelly," Nina's mother answered.

"I'm Richard," Nina's father answered.

" Im Sarah." I stated.

" Please call me that from now on. Yes, I'm your queen, but I want to be friends," I stated.

" Yes your majesty," they responded in unison.

" Now explain to me what you two were doing in the main hall," I asked.

They explained that they were picking up the broken furniture and the trash.

" OK then let's get back to work." I stated.

We all got up and went to the main hall. They were right that there was aloe to do. Nina and I picked up the broken furniture, and they picked up the trash. I walked over to the window. Ray had constructed a make-shift prison in the courtyard. I saw Alpha Mark and Roland. I hate that man with a passion. I could feel Karina coming forward wanting her revenge.

" In time, Karina," I told her.

" But I want to tear out his throat." she stated.

" Me too." I responded.

She retreated back into her corner. I walked away from the window. I knew Ray was conducting legal matters today and I did not wish to be part of that. I knew this evening there were going to be executions. Which I had to be there for. I did not want to be there, but Ray said it would show that we were of the same mind. He promised to only execute the people that were deserving of death.

I went to work helping Nina finish removing the broken furniture. I have never seen so much trash in my life. We hauled out several bags. It was lunchtime by the time we took a break. We weren't even halfway through the cleanup of the hall. I did not know what Ray had planned for this place, but I bet if we clean it up and remodel it. This could make a beautiful palace.

All four of us went and ate lunch in the kitchen. Mike had made sandwiches. There was ham, cheese, tomatoes, pickles and lettuce on them. They tasted delightful. He also had found chips to go with them. Ray had made sure to bring some of the Mountain Dew with us. I loved it.

We finished lunch and went back to work. I had sent Nina to find Ray. She returned and told me to meet him in his office in ten minutes. I waited ten minutes and went to his office.

" What do you need, sweetheart?" he asked.

" What are we going to do with the palace?" I stated.

" Why do you ask?" he responded.

"Because I was thinking that we should clean it up and remodel it," I stated.

" Sarah, I'm going to have it torn down and made into a pack house." he stated.

" That sounds good too." She stated.

I gave him a kiss and left his office and went back to work. It was near dinner time now. I went back to his office and I knocked on the door.

He yelled," Come in."

I walked in.

"What's going on?" he asked.

" I was just checking on you," I stated.

" I haven't seen you all day," I stated.

" I know my love," he responded to me.

I knew that was exaggerated. I had seen him earlier in the day. I then went behind the desk and sat on his lap. He was putting things into the computer. I then asked.

" Are you coming to dinner?" I asked.

" Yes sweetheart," he stated.

I went to get up, and he held me in his lap. I did not fight him to try and get up again. I enjoyed sitting on his lap. I started rubbing his arm that was holding me.
