The Lost Princess Of The Lycans Chapter 7: Sarah
Sarahs POV
"Mate," the voice in my head said as I drifted to sleep. I'm running through the woods when a beautiful black and white wolf with white dots around her ears and hazel eyes jumps out from behind a tree. I stop dead in my tracks. We are staring at each other, and I feel like I know this wolf.
" Your voice sounds familiar, and you were talking to me," I stated.
"Who are you, I ask"? I'm Karina, I'm your wolf.
"My wolf," I replied.
" Yes, I'm your wolf ." She responds
I found out that female lycans go through their first shift on the morning of their birthdays at the age of 17. Why didn't I shift? I don't even know when my birthday is. In the orphanage, we were never told it was our birthday, nor did we celebrate birthdays.
"Where have you been"? I ask her
"I've been keeping you alive." She responds
She explains that she's been deep in the back of my mind trying to keep me alive. She explains that they have been injecting me with silver to prevent me from shifting. The medicine and fluids that the doctor is giving me through my IV are flushing out of my system. Then she explained the mate bond to me. That's why when he touched me, I started to relax.
"You are the princess taken as an infant during the great war."
"Why have you never spoken to me before"? I ask
"Because I was putting all my strength into healing you and keeping you alive. I'm weak and need to rest. I will speak with you again."
She's gone now. I slowly started to open my eyes, and everything came back to me—where I was and my condition. Now, it all made perfect sense why everyone would speak in whispers around me. Also, why would I get hit for asking about the princess? I was deep in thought when I heard a female voice.
"You are awake?" She stated.
I jumped because it startled me. I was not expecting it. My heart monitor starts beeping faster.
"You're alright," the woman said.
I tried to ask her who she was, but again, no words came out. This made me start bawling because I could talk before I came here. So why can't I talk now? What is wrong with me?
"I'm Brittany". She introduces herself.
"Your Sarah and future queen and Luna of our kingdom," she says.
"Ray told me your name," she says.
I'm glad everyone knows who I am because I don't know who I am. A few days ago, I was a slave who people called Girl, and today I found out I'm the missing princess and that I have a mate. Then, to top it off, I woke up with broken legs, could not move my jaw, and couldn't talk. I looked at her, pointed to my mouth, and gestured with my hands that I couldn't speak.
"I know," she says, giving me a pen and paper.
I wrote what happened to me.
"I'll go get Dr. Bernard," she says.
I shake my head, no, and she looks at me, puzzled. I write that I don't want to be put back to sleep.
"He's not going to put you back to sleep. He's going to answer your questions," she states.
I just shrug. I don't want to see any man right now. I don't want to be touched. My body has been violated for a long time, and I don't want it to happen again. At the age of 12, they started injecting us with a silver liquid that would burn and hurt. Most of us would pass out from the pain.
It became a regular torture that none of us would look forward to. The second time they tried injecting me with the silver liquid, I fought back. That was the first time I got beaten. Then, shortly after, that is when Roland started taking me to the woods and raping me. I would sometimes fight Roland off; other times, I would do what he wanted just to save myself a beating. I was deep in thought when Brittany and Dr. Bernard walked back in.
"Good afternoon, Your Majesty". He said.
I wrote Good afternoon. He then pulls up a chair and sits at the foot of the bed.
"I know you have a lot of questions for me. Let me explain what has happened to you. Over time, you'll be able to talk again right now; your jaw is broken, and your vocal cords are damaged. You will heal slowly right now because too much silver is in your body. You will have to learn how to talk and walk again. As I'm sure you are aware, your legs were broken and did not heal properly, so I broke them again and sat them the proper way. The wounds on your back were infected, so I drained them, and the bandages will have to be changed regularly." He explained.
"Is there anything else that you would like to know?" He asks. I just shook my head.
I'm getting tired, and tears are coming down my cheeks. I started crying and rocking back and forth, and Ray rushed in.
"What's wrong, sweetheart?" as he rushed to my bedside.
I shrunk back from his touch. He understood and slowly reached for my hand. I watched as he grabbed my hand and started to rub it like he did last night. I started to relax and quit rocking.
"That's my girl," he said.
He then turns to Brittany.
"Why was she crying?" he asks.
Just then, Dr. Bernard speaks up:" I told her everything wrong, and it would take time for her to heal, learn to talk or walk again."
During Rays and the doctor's conversation, I hadn't noticed he had started to rub my cheek. He then turns to me and says
"I know it's a lot, my beautiful queen. I'll be here every step of the way, and I'm never letting you go."
He then asks the doctor to speak to him privately. Pulling his hand from my cheek, he says, "Be right back, sweetheart." My cheek still feels warm, and I feel this strange tingling sensation from where his hand was. I can't believe I didn't notice that he had moved his hand to my cheek.
I'm already missing his presence in the room. I have this yearning to stay as close to him as possible. I'm starting to feel weak and realize I need to rest. I lay back on the bed, and I could already feel my eyes growing heavy as I drifted off to sleep. I kept thinking about his touch and how he smelled. He smelled of earth and cedar. I can't wait to see him again.
