Sarahs POV

It was finally nice to get to go out of our bedroom. We did have amazing sex those days. But to get out and eat breakfast at the table and see Eric was wonderful. We did not see the pups for long, but that is OK. We have a lot to do. We will also be getting ready to go to the Red Rock Clan. After, we finished breakfast and said goodbye at the doorsteps. He went his way, and now it was time to go to the orphanage.

I informed the families that had been waiting that they needed to meet me at the orphanage. Stacey had also told the people at the orphanage that KI would be coming to sort out the children who were still there. When I arrived at the orphanage, a line of people was outside it. I assumed that they were the parents of children that had lost or been taken.

Since we were doing this with a couple of people at a time, I sat in a chair in the corner, had the children brought out, and sat in rows on the floor. The first set of couples were brought in. Immediately, a young girl jumped up and yelled," Mommy." The mother of the child ran over to her. The infants were also brought out. After a couple of hours, all but two children were claimed, which saddens me. The teenagers had been claimed except for these two children.

They were four and five. They looked like siblings. I then talked to them. They told me that they watched their parents be killed in an attack. They were taken. I walked out of the orphanage, and one couple was still there.

" Did you not find your children?" I asked.

They bowed to me.

" We are looking for our niece and nephew," they stated.

I then brought the two children out, and they ran to them. I was so pleased that the orphanage had been cleared out. I then went over to the new barracks. Some "slaves" were still dressed appropriately and were there for work purposes. I walked into the building. They all bowed to me.

" I have come to see how you are doing and if you have been offered to return to your clans if you have chosen to," I stated.

They all stated that they had grown up here while captives, and this was their home. They had no desire to go back to their original clans and wanted to stay there. They were happy I was not going to interfere with that. They are being fed, trained, and paid for their work now. The women were safe; some even found their mates, which pleased me. Call me old fashion, but I love happy endings. I then went to the elder's house, where they kept the older pack members. The ones that could no longer care for themselves.

The staff bowed to me. I went on a tour of the house. It looked like everyone had their rooms and was being taken care of. I will report this to Ray. It was getting late in the day, and I wanted to see what was happening with Ray. I had noticed the smell of sulfur when I had been outside. I knew that smell from the battle. I thought that there were dragons in the village. It is not surprising that some dragons come and go. But I wanted to make sure that they were being watched. Sometimes, they tried to start trouble and were there for other reasons.

I was hoping that they were there for other reasons. I walked to the Alpha's house. I knew that was where Ray was going to be. I knocked on the door. Chrissy opened the door. She had her pup in her arms. The smell was more pungent coming from here.

" I was expecting you," she stated.

It was obvious how she knew I was coming. My mate was there, and I knew he was talking to Caleb.

" Are they still talking?" I asked.

I knew that was a dumb question. They were still talking, but I wanted to ensure I didn't assume that was what was going on. There could have been numerous reasons why they were still talking. She invited me in. She had a servant get us something to drink. I was also hungry and asked her if she had anything to snack on, which she did. The servant who was serving us was recognized as a young girl who had been brought to the slave quarters when I was still a captive.

" What is your name?" I asked.

" My name is Veronica," she stated.

That right that was her name when she was brought to the house. She was weak, and she had been stabbed. They had just attacked her village and took her hostage.

" Why have you not returned to your clan?" I asked.

" Forgive me, my queen," she stated.

" I am happy here and have found my mate," she stated.

I smiled and nodded my head at her. She went about her duties. I knew Chrissy would take good care of her.

" I see you ran into Veronica again," Chrissy stated.

" Yes, she looks good. She looks like she has put on some weight," I stated.

When I left, she was losing weight because we were not being fed properly.

" Yes, she gets to eat three times a day while working here," Chrissy responded.

It is good that she provides meals for her. Chrissy never liked the fact that there were slaves among her people. There were a lot of slaves who had disappeared. I wonder if she helped them escape.

" Chrissy, I have a question for you," I stated.

" Yes, my queen," she responded.

" Please don't call mime that," I stated.

" Forgive me, Your Majesty," she stated.

" There is nothing to forgive, Chrissy," I stated.

" Did you help people to escape in the past?" I asked.

She proudly said yes. That would explain why when she took a couple of slaves, they would never be seen again. She helped them escape.

" Thank you," I stated.

She went and put her baby down. We then sat there, talked, and got to know each other. She told me a lot about how she never approved of Leanne and Junior dating. She would always try to break them up. She said she was sorry that she could not rescue me because Roland kept a close eye on me. I could see her point. He always made sure he knew where I was. He would have made me his chosen mate.

But I was rescued before he could do that. I was highly pleased that Ray found me. I told her that we might be expecting another little one. She jumped up off the couch and hugged me. I was surprised that she was so happy about it. After she hugged me, we sat back on the sofa again. She explained to me how sad she was when I was being tortured and that she tried to stop it several times, but her father would not let her help.

All these years, I did not think very highly of her. I was nice to her because I had to be. I remembered that she was sad all the time. But now she would be happy because she had her mate and pup. I was delighted for her, and I told her I wanted to be friends and that she was welcome to visit me as often as possible.
