The Lost Princess Of The Lycans Chapter 179: Final Attempt
Sarah POV
After talking to Ray and Caleb, and talking to Chrissy, it was final. Leanne would be executed. I wish she would have listened to me and begged for mercy. She is only one year older than me. She was throwing her life away; literally, she was going to be executed. I might have one more chance to save her. Maybe before she gets executed, she can beg for mercy. Yes, it would be satisfying to watch her beg. But more than that, I wanted to save her.
So that way she could have a life. She was too young to die. I know everyone is wondering why I want to save her because she was a bully to me and has attacked me and even tried to kill Chrissy. She is just immature. I know if she finds her mate, then she will find happiness. Her world ended the day that I was rescued. But she could still find happiness.
I went to the pups' room. I wanted to see them before the executions started. I opened the door to the pups' room, and I was pleasantly surprised that Isabella was crawling. I was so happy. I mind-linked Ray and had him come to their room. He was there as quickly as lightning. He got to see Isabella crawl. We sat in the nursery for a few minutes, watching the pups play. We then picked the pups up, kissed them, and left the room.
The executions took place on the training grounds. They had set up a platform with a wooden block on it. Then, to the left of that, they had another platform set up with chairs for us. Sadly, Chrissy's chair would be empty because she went home. She was not feeling well. She was going to have her pup any time now. I was excited for her. We walked over to the chairs and sat down. The first prisoner was brought in. The executions were going smoothly.
Next, Leanne was brought in. She was still crying as she was brought in. This was my last chance. As I was walking towards her, I heard shouting to the right of me. I turned to look, and there were six black lycans with emerald green eyes. The guards were holding them back. Ray was immediately at my side.
" Sarah, we need to get you out of here," he stated.
" Why," I ask.
" It's the Shadow Clan," he responds.
" The shadow clan," I responded,
I had never heard of the shadow clan before. Were they part of the kingdom, or were they considered rogues? I was so confused that I went with Ray to the stairs.
"Seize them," Ray stated.
Several warriors stepped forward and seized them. They did not put up a fight. Instead, they just stood there and let themselves be taken. Then, one of the shadow clan's men asked to speak to Ray. The largest Lycan steps forward to Ray. He bows like he's supposed to.
" Forgive my intrusion," The Lycan states.
" I'm the alpha of the shadow clan," he states.
" My name is Jeremiah," he stated.
" That girl in chains is my mate," he states.
I was unaware she had found a mate or was finding him for the first time.
" I was unaware that she had a mate," I responded to him.
Ray looked at me and glared at me. I did not care. If this was her mate, then I could use that to try and get her to agree to get whipped or maybe get her to agree to go with him and not to return.
" Leanne, is this your mate?" Ray asked.
" I just discovered him right now," she responded.
So she just found him. That's great. We could still save her life. I could see that Leanne's newfound mate was concerned and was ready to fight over her. I then stopped the execution and pulled Ray and Caleb to the side.
" They just found each other, and they have not had an opportunity to get to know each other," I stated.
" Why should we make him suffer? " I stated.
" I will speak to Caleb about this and see what can be done, " Ray said.
"That's all I ask," I responded.
The executions were temporarily postponed. Maybe Leanne's new mate could talk her into taking a whipping instead of being executed. I just wanted to save her life. I wanted to show her mercy. She's probably never had mercy shown to her. I do not know what her home life was like. But in this clan, I'm pretty sure it was unpleasant. Suppose they were willing to treat their captive as severely as they did. I wonder what they did to their people. I knew her father and mother were both warriors in the clan. I knew she was the only child, which usually meant they got spoiled.
Ray finished talking to Caleb, and then he spoke to Jeremiah. He then went back to everyone who was watching the executions. " Due to the seriousness of her crime, she would not be executed. Instead, she will be whipped," Ray stated.
" Then she and her mate are more than welcome to leave," Ray said.
Then, to my surprise, silver chains were brought out. Who were those for? Why are they being brought out? I wondered. Why are they putting them on Jeremiah? Then it dawned on me why he was in chains to not stop the punishment. He's not going to stand there and watch his mate get whipped. He's going to want to do something. His companions were ready to come to his defense. They were starting to advance when he held his hands up.
"No, I must do this for my mate," he stated.
They then backed down and stood behind him. Then Leanne was brought to her mate so they could talk. They had a moment to speak. She agreed to whatever he said and was led away to the whipping post. At that time, I could not stay and watch because I knew how being whipped with that whip felt. I then went to the building where we had the trials. It seemed like an eternity before Ray walked into the room that I was in and said that it was over.
"She got ten lashes," he stated.
" Sarah, how did you know she would find her mate and be happy?" he asked.
" I didn't know, but I'm thankful he did show up," I stated.
" Sarah, I still don't understand why you were hell-bent on saving Leanne after everything she did to you." He stated,
I told him that you treat others how you want to be treated. If I were in her situation, I would want to be treated the same way I treated her. I then told him the old saying: Kill people with kindness. She will always remember that I fought to save her life. I asked him if he had heard the expression.
"Be kind to your enemies", I stated.
She was an enemy of mine, not because I made her one but because she made herself one over something that would've never been. She got jealous of Junior, and I would've never been mated even if I had been a free woman then. He was kind to me. He was kind to just about every slave there was, but he did have ulterior motives for his kindness. That's why I told Ray not to make him Alpha of the White River or any clan. He was too much like his father in some ways. He just had a dark spirit. Caleb Ray and I took a break from the executions.
