The Lost Princess Of The Lycans Chapter 33: A Late Start

Sarahs POV

We were up until pretty late that night. I woke up on the floor still in front of the fireplace. Ray was still asleep. So I wrapped a blanket around me and tried to walk to the door. I never made it. My legs gave out six steps. I pulled a lamp down as I fell. The commotion woke up Ray and the person on the other side of the door. It was Brittany. I was relieved that it was her. Ray was carrying me to bed. He gently sat me down on the bed.

"I'm so sorry my princess," Ray stated.

"It's not your fault," I whispered.

" I should have been more alert," he stated.

"I'm OK." I whispered.

He was upset with himself. I tried to assure him that I was OK. But he didn't believe me. He called for Dr. Bernard to come and examine me. Which I really didn't think was necessary. I let him fret over me. The doctor came and said I was fine. All I had was a bump on my knee. He then left. I was grateful that Ray had got me pajamas last night, or I would have been in front of everyone naked. After the doctor left, we finished what was left over from dinner.

" Sarah, we need to talk about the mating ceremony. " Ray stated.

" What is the mating ceremony?" I asked.

" That is where I present you to the kingdom as my mate and I mark you in front of everyone." Ray stated.

I have never heard of a mating ceremony. The White River Clan never celebrated that or had any ceremony when someone found their mate. They always went in front of the alpha and presented their mate. He would then approve or disapprove of the match. There were a couple of times that he made his mates reject the other one. I don't know why, but he did. So I was anxious about this.

" OK" I stated.

My voice was getting better. I could talk but I was hoarse. My throat hurt too, but that was to be expected. The doctor said it would take time to come back fully. I was really getting inpatient with this healing process. But I guess I'll have to deal with it. The mating ceremony was scary sounding. It was a wedding ceremony of sorts. Humans celebrate their unions that way. But humans don't mark their mates. We do. If you were mated to an alpha, there was a lot more to the ceremony.

I knew about some of the things. But not all of it. I was deep in thought when I felt Ray's hand on my cheek.

" Sweetheart is OK." he stated.

" I know it's a lot," he stated.

" But I'll walk you through it." he stated.

I shrugged my shoulders.

" I need to get dressed," I stated.

I wanted to be his forever, but I don't know if I'm strong enough for all the ceremony. I wanted to be 100 percent better. I have heard when a wolf is injured badly like I am that the mark helps to heal it. I don't know if that is true. Nobody talked to me about this stuff. I knew it would hurt when he marked me and I also knew that it would bind us together forever.

" Can you help me take a shower?" I asked.

I knew that I was getting stronger, but I hurt after falling, and I wanted to take a shower. He went to pick me up, but I stopped him.

" No, I want to walk." I stated.

It wasn't that I didn't love him carrying me everywhere, but I did want to walk. My legs are never going to get stronger if I don't use them.

" As you wish, Princess," he stated.

We went into the bathroom. He puts the shower chair in the bathtub. I had him help me get in and I sat down. He then undresses himself and gets in the shower with me. I love it when we bathe together. We take our shower and get out. He wraps a towel around me and helps me on the couch. I'm already exhausted. It's a lot of work to learn how to walk on my own.

I had him get me my underwear. I chose the black lacy ones. He helps me snap the snaps, and then I wear the sweatpants and a t-shirt. I want to be comfy today. Since I don't know what is planned. I'm sitting on the couch and Ray comes over to me.

" I'm sending you and Brittany shopping again," he stated.

" I don't want to go shopping," I stated.

" It will be OK, Caleb and Zack will be with you," he stated.

I agree with this reluctantly. He then kissed me goodbye. He said he had things to tend to, and he would see me later for dinner. He told me to buy a new dress and a swimsuit. I don't know how to swim. I know the doctor said swimming would help me build up my legs. I was thinking about all the things we talked about. When Brittany came in,

" Are you ready? " She asks.

I shook my head no. I really didn't want to go shopping. Last time I was almost kidnapped. So I did not want a repeat. I didn't feel safe.

" I know last time things happened," Brittany stated.

" This time we will have extra guards," she stated.

" Ok ." I stated.

She then helps me with my hair. She puts it in pigtails. I looked in the mirror. I like what i see. I noticed that I was putting on some weight. My cheek bones don't stick out as badly and the dark circles under my eyes are almost completely gone. So I am getting stronger and healthier. I didn't look like the girl I did when I first came here.

After looking in the mirror, I was happy to go shopping.
