King Rays POV

"What happened that the witches are attacking you?" I asked.

" I do not know," Darren responded.

This was interesting, as I did not know how to respond. If he was asking for help, then it was getting serious, and he could not handle the situation. Before I make any decision, I need to talk to Donald about the situation. He would have answers since he is the king of witches. This is what it is about being a king.

" I will talk to Donald," I stated.

" That's all I ask," Darren responded.

He then left the room. It was just myself and Caleb now.

" Now, old friend, what reports do you have for me?" I asked.

"Have you appointed a beta and guards to protect you and your mate? "

He needed to do that. He needs to make sure he and his mate are protected. I have already promoted another to the beta position and filled Brittany's position. I made sure that we were well protected. Even Sarah was protected and had her own details. They followed her around and were ready to sacrifice their lives for her. The pups also have their information, but they won't go anywhere soon.

" I have not discovered trustworthy men here to fill those positions," he responded.

" You could have some warriors from my clan since you trained them," I stated.

" I would like that," he responded.

" I will make a phone call as to how many men you need," I responded.

After we settled that, he went over the harvest report. The crops brought in a lot. He was shipping them to other clans and stores. He had made over three million dollars. He had to break up a gang that was extorting people that the previous alpha had allowed. He then said that the carpenter's shop was doing well. Construction was going well. He had plowed up another field for more crops and was planning to reopen a diner that had been shut down here.

He was getting things lined out. Then we came back to the dragon business. We discussed plans to help them if Donald said there was a danger.

" Everything sounds good," I responded.

" I will go talk to Donald and Eric about the dragon issue. Until I figure out what is going on, double your patrols and guards at the borders," I stated.

He responded, " Yes, Your Majesty," and I left. I was very pleased that Sarah and Chrissy were on the sofa discussing things. I knew she was in the house even before seeing her. I could smell her intoxicating scent. Caleb walked out of the office and saw that they were talking. We both decided to leave them be. Sarah needed to communicate with all the alpha mates, find out if there was anything that she could help with, and befriend them.

I heard a squeal come from the living room. Caleb and I ran into the living room, and they hugged each other. Sarah must have told her that there was a possibility that she would be pregnant again. They agreed to get together as often as they could. Then, both women found us in the kitchen. Sarah walked over to me and kissed me. Chrissy did the same to Caleb. Then we heard their baby start to cry. That was our notice to leave and let them tend to their business.

We were walking back to the house where we were staying and discussing what Caleb and I had discussed. She mentioned the dragons. I told her that there was a possibility that we would help them fight witches, and she was ready for it. I told her I would talk to Donald before any decisions were made. He had been busy helping build things as well. I'm sure he was using magic to help with that.

He would use magic to help. He must have heard or felt that I needed to talk to him because he was at the house sitting on the porch.

" Your Majesty," he bowed to us.

" I have been waiting for you," he stated.

" I was escorting Sarah home. Then I was going to look for you," I stated.

" Well, I'm here," he responded.

We entered the house, and Sarah got us both drinks. We sat down at the kitchen table.

" Why are the witches attacking the dragons?" I asked.

" I do not know," he responded.

It was not surprising that he did not know why they were attacking the dragons.

" Is there a way you can find out what is going on," I asked.

" Yes, I will go and find out," he responded.

He then left. Donald does not know why they are attacking the witches, which is dangerous because that means a war between the witches and them fighting the dragons. This was not good news. I started rubbing my temples. My head was beginning to hurt. Sarah got up, walked behind me, and rubbed my shoulders. That helped with the headache. I then grabbed her hands and pulled her around in front of me.

" I want to let Nash out," I stated.

" I don't want you shifting until we find out for sure if you are pregnant again or not," I stated.

" But I know Nash would love for you to come with us on a run," I stated.

She agreed to come with us. She ran beside us. Nash was enjoying having her run beside us. Nash and Sarah have not gotten to spend much time together. So it was nice that they spent time together. We ran to a waterfall, and the moon was coming out. The sunset was beautiful. Sarah sat on a rock and petted Nash. He was enjoying her petting him. He ran around some, pranced, and showed off to her. I knew he was doing it for Karina. I knew Karian could see him.

We enjoyed this time outside, enjoying the fresh air and each other's company without pressing matters or meetings. Sarah rubbed her arms. She was starting to get cold. It was time to head back to the house. Mike would have dinner ready. I was getting hungry, and I was sure Sarah was also getting hungry. We slowly walked back to the house. When we got there, the smell of sulfur was so strong.

I immediately shifted back to human form. I did not care that I was naked. I walked into the house, and Darren was there; he had some people with him. Even in human form, they still smelled like sulfur. This was not surprising, but I can sniff things out that normal people would not be able to.

I knew Sarah could smell it, too. As I was getting dressed, she went to our bedroom and got me some clothes.

" What are you doing here?" I asked him.

" Things are getting worse," he stated.

" How so," I asked.

He explained that the witches had been attacking around the clock. What were they trying to accomplish? What had happened that they were attacking? I have the feeling I'm not being told everything. The ones hunting Sarah are dead, so I know it was not them. But who else wanted to cause wars? I told Darren and his men to go to the inn that had been reopened and stay the night so that we could discuss this in the morning. Just as they were leaving, Donald showed up.
