The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 100: Nursing Home

"Lily's right! We're a bunch of gorgeous college girls, way more popular with the elderly than those smelly guys from the snooker club!"

The dance club members, who had been feeling a bit down, were now fired up by Lily's words, ready to turn the tables in the afternoon.

The snooker club guys, on the other hand, were in high spirits, laughing and joking all the way.

Recently, they had been outshining the dance club in various activities, and it felt great!

Some of them had agreed to help Victoria today out of sheer boredom, but after seeing the dance club's flashy yet ultimately unsuccessful efforts, they felt it was worth it.

Eric leaned back in his chair, speaking casually, "Alright, everyone, let's give it our best this afternoon. Don't let us down."

The group responded enthusiastically.

Elise sneaked a glance at Ethan. He still had that cold, expressionless look, but he had been very serious about fishing, clearly taking it to heart.

She then shifted her gaze to Victoria. Could Ethan really be doing this for Victoria?

Although she and Ethan had been in the same club for a while, he was always so aloof and rarely participated in school activities.

Could this time be different because of Victoria?

Victoria felt a pair of intense eyes on her and slowly turned to see Elise looking serious.

She asked, puzzled, "Elise, you worried about something?"

Elise quickly shook her head, forcing a smile. "Nah, just thinking about something else. I'm leading by so many points now that as long as we perform normally this afternoon, we should win."

Mira nodded in agreement.

Victoria said, "Yeah, but we should still plan a bit. Let's divide the tasks. Some of us should chat with the elderly, preferably those who are outgoing and emotionally intelligent."

She continued, "If the elderly need anything, we can help with some cleaning. Most importantly, does anyone know how to cook fish?"

Ethan watched her, admiring Victoria's serious approach. She was particularly charming when she was deep in thought.

Eric nodded in agreement and loudly asked, "Who in our club is good at cooking? Raise your hand!"

Two guys hesitantly raised their hands, one of them timidly asking, "I can fry an egg, does that count?"

The bus erupted in laughter. Another guy said, "I can make a sandwich. Does that make me a chef?"

Indeed, these young men and women came from well-off families, many with household staff and chefs, and had never cooked for themselves.

Eric shook his head, realizing they couldn't compete with the dance club in this area.

Someone suggested, "Eric, maybe we should skip this part and let the nursing home's chef handle the fish. We can focus on other tasks."

At this point, Mira slowly raised her hand, saying uncertainly, "I can cook a little, but I'm not very skilled. Sometimes I break the fish skin when frying, but I can cook it through. It tastes like a regular home-cooked meal, edible."

She hadn't raised her hand earlier because she didn't consider herself proficient, but seeing that others were even less capable, she reluctantly volunteered.

"Great! Mira, it's up to you," Eric said, clapping with a smile. "No pressure, we have plenty of fish. If you mess up a few, it's no big deal. Feel free to ask for help if you need it."

Mira nodded.

Soon, they arrived at the nursing home. The dance club girls were super enthusiastic, heading straight to the courtyard as soon as they got off the bus.

Many elderly people were sitting there, soaking up the sun. The sunlight filtered through the tall trees, casting a warm glow on their wrinkled faces.

Seeing so many young people, the elderly's faces lit up with smiles. This nursing home had excellent facilities, and the residents were well cared for, but they often felt lonely.

Many had family members living abroad, and some had even outlived their children, leaving them with no choice but to stay in the nursing home.

The nursing home director, Caspian, introduced them, "These are students from Nexus College, here to spend time with you today. They even brought fish they caught themselves for a special meal."

The dance club girls quickly formed small groups, chatting warmly with the elderly. The seniors, delighted by the clean and pretty girls, clapped their hands in welcome.

The others looked on, dumbfounded—was there really a need to rush up and compete?

Caspian cleared his throat and said, "Not all the elderly are here. Some are in the indoor activity room. You don't all need to crowd here."

Today was unusual; Nexus College had never sent so many students before. Today, two busloads arrived, almost outnumbering the elderly residents of the nursing home.

What he didn't know was that, in previous years, only two or three members from the Snooker Club and the Dance Club would participate in such activities.

This year, the large turnout was due to the rivalry between the two clubs.

Following Caspian's guidance, the rest of the students moved to the activity room.

The student council members took the fish to the kitchen and loudly asked, "Who can cook? You can start preparing now. The rest of you, follow Caspian's instructions."

The dance club members were a bit flustered; none of them knew how to cook.

Lily frowned; her family had a chef, so she never needed to cook.

Seeing everyone struggling, Ella stepped up and said, "I'll do it. When my mom was sick, I made her fish soup, and she said it was good. My cooking skills are average, but if no one else can, I'll give it a try."

Everyone praised Ella for being kind and multi-talented, then happily sent her to the kitchen.

Once there, Ella was stunned by the lively fish.

At home, the chef always prepared the fish and ingredients for her. She only had to follow the steps and add water.

Now, she had to handle the fish herself, which was daunting.

She bit her lower lip and looked innocently at the nursing home chef, sweetly saying, "Sir, I don't know how to clean fish. I always buy it pre-cleaned. Could you help me with that?"
