The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 152: Speculating Victoria's Family Background
Tim didn't even bother to turn around. "Whatever."
Jasmine stomped her foot in frustration, glancing back longingly at the receding luxury yacht. What a wasted opportunity!
Just then, she noticed another speedboat being lowered from the ship. The person sitting at the front was wearing clothes that looked just like Samuel's!
The speedboat was heading in her direction, and Jasmine's heart leapt with joy. She hadn't expected Samuel to come personally after sending someone to refuse her.
'This Samuel sure has an interesting personality,' she thought.
She was about to get up and greet him when she saw the speedboat speeding up instead of slowing down.
The speedboat zoomed past Jasmine, splashing her with a wave of seawater.
Jasmine pushed her wet hair out of her face and spat out the salty water, yelling, "Can't you see there's someone here? Can't you steer clear?"
From the rapidly retreating speedboat, Nick's insincere apology floated back. "Sorry, miss, we're in a hurry."
The engine noise drowned out the rest of his words, and Jasmine didn't hear them.
Fuming, Jasmine could still taste the salty water in her mouth. She screamed at Tim to speed up and catch the speedboat.
Tim just shrugged. "Their speedboat's been modified. It's way faster than ours. No way we can catch up."
Jasmine could only curse in frustration. She knew Roy had been on the ship too but hadn't said a word in her defense. No family loyalty at all.
And that Victoria, who came from nothing, was now comfortably sitting on Samuel's modified speedboat just because she had latched onto a rich guy.
'She actually gets better treatment than me. Are those men blind? Can't they see that I'm more talented and beautiful than her?' Jasmine fumed inwardly.
Inside the speedboat, which was surrounded by special glass, Victoria felt no wind or rain but could see everything outside clearly.
She didn't look back at Jasmine but had seen her disheveled state as they passed.
She remembered how Jasmine had bullied newcomers in their previous life, once even throwing hot coffee on a pretty girl's face, sending her to the hospital.
A cold smile played on Victoria's lips. Jasmine would never have imagined herself in such a sorry state.
Ethan noticed the change in her expression and leaned in to ask quietly, "You don't like that woman?"
Victoria lowered her eyes and said calmly, "I don't know her well."
They soon reached the island, where staff were waiting with cars. They had raincoats and large black umbrellas, ensuring that neither the hosts nor the guests got wet.
Tony, who was waiting on the shore with the speedboat's headlights on, saw Samuel's speedboat return to the island but had no news of Jasmine.
He paced anxiously until the speedboat he had sent out finally brought Jasmine back.
She was soaked and shivering, and the person who came to get her only had a raincoat.
Jasmine threw the raincoat into the sea. "I'm already soaked. What's the point of a raincoat now?"
She sneezed and continued, "Hurry up and take me back to the island. I need to change clothes and warm up!"
By the time Jasmine reached the shore, Victoria and the others were already inside the villa, watching movies, eating snacks, and chatting in the warm, clean living room.
A servant wrapped Jasmine in a large towel, and she finally felt some warmth.
As soon as she saw Tony, she ran to him, crying, "Tony, they bullied me!"
Tony frowned, not liking being wet, but he didn't push her away. He gently patted her back and said, "Let's get in the car and talk inside."
In the car, Jasmine cried as she recounted how she had been refused help and splashed with water.
She said indignantly, "How could Mr. Hamilton be so cold-hearted, not even inviting me on the cruise? It must be that Victoria. She has a grudge against me and must have badmouthed me to keep me off the ship."
"She even had the speedboat splash me on purpose. She just wanted to see me humiliated!" The more she thought about it, the angrier she got, hating Victoria even more.
Tony patted her back soothingly, thinking Jasmine's behavior was odd. It wasn't unusual for Samuel not to invite her on the ship.
As for the splashing, it might not have been intentional.
The space was tight, and both speedboats were heading in the same direction. Samuel's powerful speedboat would naturally create a big splash when passing.
But knowing Jasmine was upset, he didn't argue.
Suddenly, Jasmine remembered something. She had found it strange that Victoria had gotten a limited edition pair of Christian's shoes, even having her name engraved on the soles, a privilege for VIPs.
Ella and the others had insisted Eric had given them to her, and Jasmine hadn't doubted it.
But Eric hadn't dumped Victoria as they had predicted. Something was off.
If Victoria was as poor as Ella claimed, Eric wouldn't treat her so well. Eric came from a wealthy family and wouldn't bring a casual fling to socialize with Samuel.
So maybe Victoria's background was more fitting for Eric. That would explain a lot.
Jasmine stopped crying, tears still on her cheeks, and said, "Tony, do you think Victoria could be part of the Hamilton family?"
Tony replied, "She's always had the last name Hamilton. You just noticed?"
Jasmine clarified, "I mean Nick's family. At school, Victoria was always close to Nick and the others. At first, I thought it was because of Eric. But I heard she rode with Nick on her first day."
Tony's expression grew serious. "You think Victoria is Nick's sister? But Nick's family records are public. They only have one son."
Jasmine smiled slyly. "Maybe she's an illegitimate child, like us. The Murphy family acknowledged us, but Victoria hasn't been publicly recognized. Her treatment in the Hamilton family might be worse than ours in the Murphy family."
Tony nodded thoughtfully. "An illegitimate daughter is less of a threat than an illegitimate son, so Nick treats her kindly."
"Plus, if Eric likes her and their relationship is stable, the Hamilton family might acknowledge her eventually."
"Jasmine, since we suspect this, you should be careful not to make an enemy of her."
Jasmine scoffed and turned away. "She's just an illegitimate daughter of Nick's family, not Samuel's sister. Why should I give in to her?"
They had already clashed several times at school, and Jasmine hated Victoria. Admitting defeat was out of the question.
Tony wanted to persuade her, but Jasmine waved him off. "Tony, don't try to talk me out of it. I know what I'm doing. Nick's family is just a branch of the Hamilton family, about as powerful as the Murphy family. If I can marry Samuel, I won't have to worry about them."
Tony doubted Jasmine's intelligence could win Samuel's favor over so many competitors, but he admired her determination and supported her.
