The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 158: Something's Wrong!

5 min 113.9K views

After a while, Victoria pulled out a wooden reindeer carving, the one with sapphire eyes that had caught her attention immediately.

To get this wooden reindeer, she had to solve a chess puzzle and even got into a fight.

Of course, she didn't tell Mira any of this, not wanting to burden her.

Every time she looked into the reindeer's eyes, she thought of Mira. They were the same, with eyes that were clear and pure, a little timid, but very cute.

Mira gasped in delight, covering her mouth. "Wow, it's so beautiful!" Even though it was just a wooden carving, it looked exquisite and lovely.

Mira wanted to ask if it was expensive but didn't want to ruin the moment.

She noticed the reindeer's eyes were especially beautiful, a clear blue, and asked, "What are its eyes made of? They're so pretty, like the sky on a sunny day."

"Sapphire," Victoria replied. "Lytheria is known for its sapphires. As soon as I saw this reindeer, I thought of you." Victoria's expression was sincere, without a hint of pretense.

Mira blushed, covering her reddening cheeks. 'Oh my, does Victoria really think I'm this pretty and cute?'

She was so touched that her eyes welled up, blinking rapidly as she looked at Victoria.

After a while, she hesitated and said, "But I work at Sunhaven and don't have any gifts to give you."

Victoria waved it off. "It's no big deal. I just happened to come across it. You don't need to worry about giving me anything in return. Besides, I didn't even spend any money on it. I solved a chess puzzle, and the owner gave it to me."

"Wow, you're amazing!" Mira exclaimed, urging Victoria to explain further.

Victoria had to skip over the part about her conflict with Zachary and focused on the story of the elderly Stanley and his late friend.

She also mentioned that the owner of the wood carving shop was a charming and interesting woman.

The two chatted for a while longer before reluctantly ending the call.

Outside, the wind and rain raged, but inside, Victoria slept peacefully. The white noise of the rain helped her sleep deeply, without any dreams.

The next morning, when Victoria opened her door, she was greeted by the smell of bread and cheese in the air.

She went downstairs to the table and saw Samuel having breakfast. Sandwiches, French bread, and cheese rolls made for a hearty meal.

Samuel looked up and asked, "How did you sleep, Victoria?"

Victoria took a deep breath, savoring the aroma. "I slept great."

A servant quietly asked Victoria what she wanted for breakfast, and she casually picked a few items.

Nick chimed in, "I didn't sleep well at all. The thunder was so loud last night, it didn't stop all night. Look at Ethan, he's got dark circles under his eyes."

Victoria glanced at Ethan, who was sipping black coffee with a serious expression. There were faint dark circles under his eyes, but you had to look closely to see them.

Ethan met Victoria's gaze, his facial muscles twitching as if he wanted to smile but didn't.

Just as Victoria was about to greet him, Ethan quickly looked away and kicked Nick under the table. "You talk too much."

Ethan hadn't slept well, not because of the storm, but because he was debating whether to join Victoria's gaming team.

He glanced at Victoria again. She was already seated at the table, taking a bite of an egg with a satisfied expression.

Ethan made up his mind. He wanted to join them in the gaming tournament. Sometimes, it's not about what you do, but who you do it with.

Samuel knew they were planning to join an esports tournament, so he had the gaming room rearranged that morning.

Six high-end computers were set up, and the network was optimized to ensure they could play without any issues.

Soon, Victoria finished her breakfast. Looking at the gloomy sky outside, she asked worriedly, "How long is this storm supposed to last? Are we going to be stuck on the island?"

Ethan put down his coffee and said gently, "The weather station says it will last a week. It shouldn't delay the start of school."

Samuel reassured her, "Don't worry. My yacht is big enough to handle this kind of storm. If you really want to go out, you can always take the Dawn Cruise Ship."

Victoria remembered something. "You mentioned the neighboring island is man-made. Will they be in danger?"

Samuel glanced out the window and nodded with a smile. "It's quite possible."

Eric added, "Isn't the neighboring island where the Murphy siblings live?"

Roy frowned but said nothing. They had met Jasmine last night and knew she was aware of their presence. If anything happened, she would definitely come to them for help.

Just thinking about it was annoying; he didn't want to see those siblings.

While they were having a relaxed breakfast and chatting, Jasmine had also had a restless night due to the storm.

She had felt her bed moving slightly, but since this wasn't an earthquake zone, she dismissed it as her imagination.

Looking out at the storm, she thought she just wasn't used to the island's weather.

She had expected a relaxing vacation, but now, thanks to the storm, she was stuck.

Nothing good ever happened when Victoria was around!

She got up in a foul mood, only to find the dining room empty and no breakfast on the table.

Furious, she shouted, "Where is everyone? Where the hell did they all go?"

No one answered, so she angrily rang the bell.

Finally, a servant rushed over. "Ms. Murphy, something terrible has happened!"
