The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 113: She Is Special
After leaving the chess house, Ella got a call from Jasmine.
Tony's wound had been treated, and he just needed to change the dressing in a few days and get plenty of rest.
Jasmine then asked about the chess tournament results.
Ella's voice was tense, "I got second place."
Jasmine was thrilled, "That's awesome! Now you can join the Chess Association. You'll have plenty of chances to see Leon in the future."
With Tony injured, she had been worried that Ella wouldn't place at all. "What about Victoria? Did she lose in the first round?"
Ella took a deep breath, trying to keep her anger in check, "She got first place."
"What?" Jasmine's voice was sharp with disbelief, "Didn't you say she didn't know how to play chess? She's your sister, how could you be so wrong about her?"
Ella gripped her phone tightly. She found it strange too. Victoria was so different from her past life.
Dancing, chess—could she really have learned all that in just a few months?
What Ella couldn't possibly imagine was that Victoria had also been reborn.
Tony used his injury as an excuse to take a break from school. He didn't have to maintain his good student image and face Ethan and his gang's bullying every day.
This was actually a good thing for him.
Ethan had recovered from his illness, and after school, they planned to go to Dreamlandia to celebrate.
They had been busy lately and hadn't had any fun in a while.
Victoria went to Sweet Haven Corner to check the accounts first, so she arrived last.
The four of them had already played a round and were sitting and chatting, each with a drink in front of them.
Nick was the first to see Victoria come in and raised his glass to greet her.
Ethan was holding a champagne glass, gently swirling it, watching the amber liquid reflect the light.
He only looked up when he heard the noise, his cold expression softening slightly when he saw Victoria.
She greeted everyone and casually found an empty seat, taking a sip of soda. Only then did she notice Ethan holding a drink.
She frowned and leaned over to snatch the glass from his hand, scolding, "You just got better, why are you drinking?"
Ethan was caught off guard, but instead of getting angry, he chuckled, "Then what should I drink?"
Victoria picked a warm glass of milk and handed it to him, "Drink this."
Nick slapped his knee and laughed, "Ethan, looks like someone can finally keep you in check."
They had tried to persuade Ethan earlier, but he seemed in a bad mood and glared at them, so they didn't dare push further.
Eric and Roy laughed without restraint. Eric added, "You should be like Victoria and just take it. You're both Hamiltons, but she's got more guts than you."
Nick, remembering Ethan's cold stare, shrank back. He feared Ethan more than his own father and never dared to go against him.
He quickly shook his head, "I'm not stupid. If you're so brave, you take it. I admit, I'm not as tough as Victoria."
Eric laughed, "Look at you, so weak."
The three of them saw clearly that Ethan was particularly indulgent with Victoria.
Maybe because she was a girl, Ethan treated her more kindly than he did his friends, even showing a bit of tenderness.
Of course, Ethan never showed this kind of tenderness to any other woman; Victoria was special.
After joking around for a while, they decided to hit the go-kart track. Halfway through, it started to snow lightly. The snowflakes sparkled under the track lights.
Victoria, who grew up in Silvervale where it never snowed, was enchanted by the snow. She slowed down, catching a snowflake in her hand and watching it melt.
She laughed brightly, "Look, it's snowing."
When she turned around, she saw Ethan standing there, looking like a perfect ice sculpture, the snowflakes not melting on him.
Seeing Victoria's unclouded smile, he also smiled, "Yeah, it is."
Ethan suddenly remembered overhearing some girls on the street saying, "They say lovers who experience the first snow together will stay together forever."
Though he and Victoria weren't lovers yet, they had experienced the first snow together. Could they stay together until they were old?
The old Ethan would have scoffed at such a notion, but now he found himself hoping it was true.
Victoria suddenly asked, "Winter break is coming up. Do you guys have any plans?"
Nick, who had driven up beside them, answered, "We're planning to go skiing abroad, ride dog sleds, reindeer, and chase the Northern Lights. Victoria, you should ask your parents and come with us!"
Eric sped past them in his go-kart, shouting, "Enjoy the last of our free time!"
Roy added, "Soon we'll all have to start taking over our family businesses, and we won't have this much time to hang out together."
Victoria thought back to her past life, remembering seeing Eric in a news segment.
By then, he was a successful CEO, being interviewed on behalf of his company.
At thirty, he was still charming and handsome, but with a more mature demeanor, sporting a small mustache, unlike his youthful exuberance now.
Victoria nodded, "Okay, I'll ask my parents."
David and Diana had previously discussed with Victoria about taking her on a trip during the winter break to make up for the many years the family hadn't traveled together.
Now that the plans needed to change, she would naturally need to discuss it with David and Diana first.
When she got home, both David and Diana were there, so Victoria brought it up.
Diana, reluctant, said, "Victoria, we haven't traveled together in so many years. We finally have time this year, and we wanted to spend it with you."
David put down his teacup, "Do you really want to go with your friends more?"
He felt a bit jealous that Victoria preferred other men over him, even if they were just friends. He had specially arranged his work to free up a whole month.
Victoria felt guilty. She didn't want to disappoint David and Diana, but the trip with Nick and the others was more appealing. Maybe she shouldn't have agreed to Nick.
Samuel, flipping through a finance newspaper, chimed in, "Mom, Dad, what young person wants to travel with their parents? Of course, it's more fun with friends. Victoria is eighteen now, an adult. You should give her some freedom."
Diana glared at him, "You troublemaker, don't lead Victoria astray. No matter how old she is, she's still my child, and I'll spoil her as such!"
David added, "Samuel, stay out of this! You still haven't brought home a girlfriend. Next year you'll be 29, almost 30, and still single. You're bringing shame to the Hamilton family! How dare you sit here? I should kick you out!"
