The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 137: Life Threat

Nick was baffled. Why was Samuel being so polite to this jerk? He couldn't stand it and was about to rush forward and start yelling when Eric grabbed him.

"Don't mess things up. Victoria's safety is the most important. Samuel must have a plan!"

Eric, though not as experienced as Samuel, was the most emotionally intelligent among their peers and had a hunch about Samuel's intentions.

Zachary smirked. "You're the brother of that fierce woman? You sure know how to talk."

He liked being flattered. If Victoria had sweet-talked him earlier, he wouldn't have held a grudge against a beautiful woman.

But his smile was too wide, pulling at the wound on his face, and his expression changed.

"Your sister hit me earlier. Look at this injury. This isn't something a simple apology can fix."

Samuel maintained his perfect, warm smile as he slowly walked toward Zachary, patting Ethan on the shoulder reassuringly as he passed.

Ethan quickly understood Samuel's intention but was still resentful, turning his face away in defiance.

Samuel laughed heartily. "You're right. Let me go talk to my sister. She'll listen to me. We'll meet any demands you have. Our family isn't just some pushover."

He was hinting that his family wasn't to be trifled with, hoping Zachary would reconsider.

Zachary rubbed his chin thoughtfully for a moment, then beckoned a henchman over and whispered something in his ear.

The henchman nodded repeatedly, then stepped aside to make a phone call.

Zachary waved his hand, signaling the henchmen blocking his way to move aside. "Alright, go talk to her. I'm not unreasonable."

He noticed that Victoria hadn't spoken out against Samuel since he arrived, thinking she would listen to him.

In reality, Victoria was following Samuel's subtle cues.

Samuel walked up to Zachary with a smile, greeting him face-to-face.

Zachary was daydreaming about getting cozy with Victoria, thinking that if her family was wealthy, a marriage alliance wouldn't be a bad idea...

Suddenly, his vision shifted to the ceiling. Samuel had one arm tightly around his neck and had pulled a small handgun from somewhere, pressing it against Zachary's temple.

"You scumbag, what kind of daydreams are you having with that sleazy smile?"

"You tricked me!" Zachary struggled and shouted, but Samuel's arm was like iron, pressing against his throat and making it hard to breathe.

The cold barrel of the gun pressed against his temple, accompanied by the sound of the safety being released.

Samuel's voice was icy. "Don't move, or it might go off." Zachary's struggling legs went rigid.

Zachary thought, 'Damn, this guy will really shoot. What kind of thug did I provoke?'

The henchmen were in a panic, some turning their guns on Samuel, others crying out, "Mr. Johnson, what do we do?"

Samuel shouted, "If you want your Mr. Johnson safe, don't move. Drop your guns." The henchmen froze, exchanging glances.

Zachary cried out, "Do as he says! Just do it!"

The henchmen reluctantly dropped their guns. Their safeties were on anyway; the guns were mostly for show.

Someone had tried to aim at Samuel but realized they couldn't get a clear shot without risking hitting Zachary.

Ethan quickly stepped forward, picking up the guns and handing one to Victoria. "Hold this. Are you okay?"

Victoria nodded. "I'm fine, but I don't know how to use a gun."

Ethan replied, "There are too many. Just hold it for me. I know how to shoot." Victoria looked at him in surprise.

She thought to herself, 'How come everyone knows how to shoot except me? I need to get Samuel to teach me when we get back!'

The two of them, armed, moved to Samuel's side, escorting Zachary out of the store.

"We did what you asked. Now let Mr. Johnson go," the henchmen called out, wanting to follow but too scared to move.

Samuel replied, "Relax. As long as you promise not to bother my sister again, I have no interest in killing anyone."

Zachary quickly agreed. "I promise! Just let me go, and we can talk about anything."

Zachary wasn't a man of principle. He'd say anything to save his skin.

But he was also known for breaking promises, having assured his grandfather Harold a hundred times that he wouldn't cause trouble, only to never follow through.

Samuel smiled, seeing through Zachary's empty promises but not caring. He just needed to buy more time to ensure Victoria's safety.

Police sirens wailed, and the crowd buzzed with excitement. Someone shouted, "The cops are here!"

The crowd parted as a group of uniformed officers approached, led by a stern-looking middle-aged man with a short mustache.

Zachary's eyes lit up, and he shouted, "Uncle Willie, I'm here! These foreigners attacked me and are holding me at gunpoint. You have to help me!"

The man was his uncle, Police Chief Willie Johnson. Willie didn't like his nephew much but wouldn't let family suffer.

He often cleaned up Zachary's messes, so Zachary felt safe seeing him. Surely these foreigners wouldn't dare oppose the local police.

Willie was surprised and scolded, "What are you doing here? You troublemaker!"

He then turned to Victoria and the others, his tone softening. "Who's Victoria? Who's Ethan?"

He had received a call from the Prime Minister's assistant, saying a high-ranking official's son from Aerion was in danger and he needed to ensure their safety immediately.

Ethan said coldly, "That's me. You got here pretty fast."
