The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 164: Half-Raw Turkey
Samuel politely greeted them and inquired about their visit.
Tony stood up and gave a slight bow, speaking earnestly, "Mr. Hamilton, we just wanted to say thank you. We really appreciate you sending the ship to rescue us and taking us in."
Jasmine quickly stood up too, glancing shyly at Samuel. In a soft voice, she said, "Mr. Hamilton, I made a roast turkey just for you. I hope you like it."
She pushed a large insulated box onto the table, revealing the turkey inside.
Samuel glanced at the turkey and said a bit awkwardly, "You're too kind. Please, have a seat." He then instructed the servant to pour them some coffee.
Jasmine quickly waved her hand, saying, "It's the least we could do. It's just one dish. I was worried it might be too small a gesture to repay you for saving our lives, Mr. Hamilton."
Tony chimed in enthusiastically, "The turkey is best when it's fresh out of the oven. Mr. Hamilton, why don't you try some now?" He gestured for the servant to come over and slice the turkey.
The servant looked to Samuel for approval, and upon receiving a nod, took the turkey to the kitchen to slice it up.
Samuel checked his watch and saw it was time for afternoon tea. He instructed, "Go call Victoria and the others. They should take a break."
Over the past few days, the group had been playing games from morning till night, and Samuel was concerned that their irregular eating habits might affect their health.
Jasmine frowned slightly but quickly smiled again.
She had a hunch that Victoria was an illegitimate child of Nick's family and wanted to find an opportunity to test her theory.
When the servant knocked on the door, Victoria and her friends were clinking glasses.
The servant respectfully said, "Miss, the Murphy siblings are here. They brought a turkey. Mr. Hamilton invites you all to join for afternoon tea."
Victoria paused mid-toast. Tony and Jasmine had come over uninvited, how bold.
She exchanged glances with her friends, all showing a hint of interest.
Nick said, "We're tired of gaming anyway. Let's see what they want." They put down their glasses and headed downstairs.
As footsteps echoed on the stairs, Jasmine looked up and immediately saw Victoria surrounded by a group of young elites.
She bit her lip. Victoria was so lucky to be surrounded by such promising young men, almost like she was the Hamilton family princess.
But she was just an illegitimate child from a side branch. What was she so proud of?
Samuel smiled and waved when he saw Victoria, "Victoria, sit here."
Victoria smiled lightly and gracefully sat next to Samuel.
Jasmine's smile froze for a moment. How could Victoria be so close to Samuel? Weren't they supposed to be cousins?
Even if they were cousins, such intimacy was unusual. It confirmed her suspicion that Victoria was Nick's half-sister.
But as an illegitimate child, she hadn't been shunned by Samuel. Victoria was truly skilled.
Roy approached the table, and Tony, feigning surprise, stood up and said, "Roy, you're here too! If we had known, Jasmine and I would have visited sooner."
Jasmine also stood up and greeted him politely, "Roy, how have you been?"
Roy glanced at them coldly, clearly uninterested in their act. He simply nodded and sat far from them.
The servant brought out the sliced turkey and placed it in front of everyone.
Despite having been bullied by Tony at school, today Tony acted as if they were all good friends, smiling and greeting each of them.
It was clear Tony was a deeply calculating person. Eric couldn't help but sneer at his behavior.
The roast turkey had a crispy, aromatic skin, sprinkled with rich spices, emitting a tempting fragrance.
Nick, feeling hungry, casually picked up a piece and put it in his mouth.
After chewing twice, his expression changed. He spat out the meat, his face contorted, "This turkey tastes weird, like it's raw. Who made this?"
Eric picked up a piece, sniffing it.
Beneath the crispy skin was the smell of raw meat. Looking closer, the meat was slightly translucent with traces of blood.
He mocked, "The turkey is burnt on the outside but raw inside. When did the island's chefs become so incompetent?"
The servants fell silent. Jasmine, lips trembling, whispered anxiously, "I'm sorry, I made it."
Nick wiped his mouth harshly, rolling his eyes impatiently, "So it was you. If you can't cook, don't waste food. Are you trying to make us sick?"
Roy snorted disdainfully, giving her a look of contempt.
Jasmine stood up, clutching her dress, her face flushed, "Mr. Hamilton, I'm sorry. I must have rushed and wasn't familiar with the oven, so the turkey didn't cook properly. I didn't mean to, please believe me."
Samuel's fork naturally veered away, placing it gently on his napkin. He cleared his throat, "It's fine. Let's remove the turkey and bring out some desserts."
The servants quickly brought out the beautifully prepared desserts for the afternoon tea.
Jasmine, however, shyly insisted, "Thank you for understanding, Mr. Hamilton. But I must make up for my mistake. I'll go to the kitchen and make another one. This time, I won't mess up!"
Before Samuel could stop her, Jasmine had already rushed to the kitchen.
Victoria watched Jasmine's hurried figure, feeling something was off.
She suddenly remembered that in her past life, Jasmine had participated in a cooking show, showcasing her excellent culinary skills.
How could someone so skilled fail to cook a turkey properly? Even if she did, wouldn't the chef she brought notice? There had to be a scheme.
