The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 183: Tiny Diamonds Are Worthless
Victoria's voice had a tinge of envy as she said, "Dennis, working with such an amazing team right off the bat, that's the dream in our field. Fingers crossed your show becomes a hit."
She knew Dennis would keep sailing smoothly, just like her past life, becoming a shining star.
"You really think so?" Dennis looked into her eyes, which were brimming with confidence and well-wishes for him.
He noticed her slightly upturned lips, her crimson lips looking softer and more kissable than the leading lady's in the show.
As this thought crossed his mind, Dennis quickly looked away, not daring to look at her any longer.
Victoria, lost in her memories, didn't notice. She said with some emotion, "Yeah, Dennis, you're talented and handsome. Once 'Lone Hero' airs, who knows how many girls will fall for you."
Dennis's smile widened. 'So, this is how she sees me.'
He asked softly, "Will you be one of those girls?"
Victoria was taken aback. What was going on? Was Dennis flirting with her?
She cleared her throat to ease the awkwardness and then politely said, "Dennis, your acting has a lot I can learn from, but we're colleagues. I won't mix up the roles with reality like the audience might. The chess club should be quiet today, right? Let's catch up at the seminar. I gotta go now."
Without waiting for Dennis's response, she quickly gathered her things and left.
Dennis watched her leave and shook his head with a smile. Was she shy?
It made sense; such confessions should come from the guy. Plus, they hadn't seen each other all winter break, and asking such a question right away was a bit forward.
When school started, Victoria wore the "Moonlight" outfit specially designed for her by Diana, and the driver dropped her off at the school gate. She had arranged to meet Mira to go to class together.
Mira arrived quickly and exclaimed as soon as she saw Victoria, "Victoria, you look so elegant today! This outfit is the latest trend, great taste!"
Victoria smiled and said, "Really? Thanks for the compliment. My mom insisted on buying it for me. She'll be thrilled to hear you say that."
Mira waved her hand and shook her head earnestly, "I'm just being honest, not flattering you because we're friends."
Victoria nodded in agreement, and the two walked into the campus together.
Many people glanced at Victoria and whispered among themselves.
Victoria was used to such looks by now, whether they were friendly or not, she didn't care. After all, in her past life, she had been cursed at on the street and had eggs thrown at her by Ella's crazy fans.
As they reached the teaching building, they heard someone calling out, "Victoria! Mira!"
It was Elise, a member of the snooker club. They had become acquainted through the Campus Queen competition.
Later, Victoria helped her earn some academic credits, and since then, Elise had been looking out for Victoria.
The two stopped and turned to walk towards Elise, greeting her simultaneously, "Hey, Elise."
Elise quickened her pace towards them, smiling, "Long time no see. By the way, the club has new uniforms this year, remember to pick yours up."
"Victoria, are you wearing the latest 'Moonlight' collection? I saw their fashion show in Nordhaven this year, it was amazing, just as good as the big brands like Zantria, but more suited to our Aerion tastes!"
Victoria replied casually, "Yeah, it's 'Moonlight', but I didn't check if it's the latest. My mom bought it."
They chatted for a bit before going their separate ways to report in.
Victoria and Mira arrived at the classroom door and immediately saw Ella and Jasmine sitting in the front row, surrounded by several girls distributing gifts.
Ella generously said, "These are all handpicked by me at Zantria. I hope you all like them."
In reality, they were just lipsticks she bought at the duty-free shop, giving each classmate one.
Although some received less flattering colors, they were still happy because they were from a big brand, and they kept complimenting Ella's stylish new clothes, her hair clip, and earrings.
Lila suddenly noticed Victoria and Mira at the door and raised her voice, "Ella, your hair clip is so sparkly. Is it made of diamonds?"
Ella touched the clip and said shyly, "It came with a bag I bought, it's just tiny diamonds, not worth much."
Lila said enviously, "I wanted to ask where you bought it, but I didn't expect it to come with a luxury bag. Ella, even your smallest accessories are so expensive."
Ella smiled and took off the clip, handing it to Lila generously, "If you like it, you can have it. I have plenty at home."
"Wow, Ella, you're so generous!" Lila quickly took the clip and put it in her hair, checking herself out in a small mirror.
She had long noticed that Ella liked to show off in front of Victoria, so she deliberately said that to get more gifts from Ella.
A few hundred dollars for tiny diamonds might be nothing to Ella, but it wasn't a small amount for her.
