The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 139: Ethan's Determination
Samuel was a bit taken aback; what a coincidence.
Willie then suggested they try some local cuisine as a thank you.
These kinds of restaurants usually required reservations in advance, which would be tough for newcomers like Samuel and his friends, but Willie had a private room reserved just for such occasions.
After thinking it over for a moment, they decided Willie wasn't too bad, so they agreed.
During the meal, Willie was extremely hospitable, even preparing many local specialty gifts for them.
They weren't particularly expensive, but they were exquisite and unique, perfect for taking back to friends.
When they parted ways, Willie asked about their upcoming plans and offered some local tips.
In the car, Nick remarked, "I can't believe Zachary has such a nice uncle. How did their family raise a kid like him? If I acted like that, my dad would have broken my legs."
Eric chuckled, "He knows Ethan's status, that's why he's being so polite to us. Just look at Zachary, you can tell Willie has been covering for him a lot."
Samuel nodded, approvingly looking at Eric. "Eric, you're right. You all need to be more cautious out there. Many people are only nice to you because of your family's status. If your family falls, they'll turn on you faster than anyone."
Victoria sat in the back, silently agreeing. She had experienced this firsthand in her previous life.
After discovering she wasn't the Scott family's biological daughter, those who had once been kind to her, including relatives and friends, abandoned her. It was clear they weren't true friends.
As Victoria was deep in thought, Ethan gently tapped her shoulder and leaned in to say, "From now on, you're not allowed to go out alone."
He was so close that his breath warmed her ear. Victoria licked her lips and shifted slightly away. "Today was just an accident. It's not like I encounter danger every time I go out."
Samuel overheard and disapproved. "Ethan's right. Victoria, you're not allowed to go out alone anymore. If Mom and Dad find out about today, they'll skin me alive."
Victoria pouted but didn't argue.
Nick laughed heartily. "Victoria sure knows how to stir up trouble. One solo outing and she almost starts a shootout. How thrilling!"
He actually felt a bit excited, especially impressed by the speed at which Samuel drew his gun. It was so cool!
Samuel gave him a hard knock on the head, speaking sternly, "If you like thrills, I'll send you to the military to fight for freedom and happiness, okay?"
Nick quickly shook his head. "No thanks, I don't even know how to handle a gun. I'd probably last two days on the battlefield."
He then asked, "But Samuel, when did you learn to shoot? That little silver gun was awesome, just like in the movies."
Samuel smiled slightly. "When I was younger, I traveled a lot and got caught in some conflict zones. I learned to shoot because it's better to have control over the situation."
What he didn't mention was an incident where he was negotiating a deal in a war-torn country, and a gunfight broke out on a nearby street.
A bullet grazed his ear. Fortunately, his experienced guide quickly pulled him to safety.
After Diana found out, she forbade him from going to conflict zones. The Hamilton family was wealthy enough; they didn't need to expand into those areas.
Ethan listened thoughtfully. His uncle had faced many dangers in the military, so his family strictly forbade him from enlisting, and he never learned to shoot.
But seeing Victoria held at gunpoint today, feeling helpless, was too painful. If he were as skilled as Samuel, he could have gotten Victoria out of danger sooner.
He looked at Victoria with determination, deciding to learn to shoot as soon as they got back.
Even if his parents opposed it, he wanted the ability to protect himself and the girl he loved, not just rely on bodyguards.
Meanwhile, Calista was packing her bags. Her convoy was leaving the next day, and she would be parting ways with Victoria and the others.
Victoria knocked on her door, and Calista took the opportunity to say goodbye.
Victoria sighed, "Time flies. It feels like we haven't had enough fun yet."
Calista smiled faintly. "We'll meet again if it's meant to be. After I finish photographing the auroras, I'll return home to process the photos. You can visit me then."
She and Victoria had hit it off well, with no conflicts despite the short time together.
Victoria nodded but suddenly had an idea. "Why don't we go with you to Frostholm? We could keep you company."
They had planned to chase the auroras anyway, and Samuel had booked a hotel with glass-domed rooms where they could safely watch the auroras.
Calista hesitated. "Your plans are set. Changing them now might not be a good idea."
She knew Victoria was concerned for her and wanted to accompany her.
Victoria insisted, "It's fine. I'll talk to Samuel." She found Samuel and explained her desire to change their plans.
As expected, Samuel disagreed, frowning. "Victoria, Frostholm is quite remote. The accommodations and environment are harsh, not suitable for you."
Victoria pouted. "If Calista can go, so can I. Don't underestimate me!"
At that moment, Ethan walked by and saw Victoria pleading with Samuel. He smiled and approached. "What's going on?"
Victoria straightened up and said seriously, "I want to go with Calista. I want to see the northernmost auroras. Besides, you promised me a favor before, and I'm calling it in now. You can't back out."
Ethan smiled. "I'll vouch for her."
Samuel had no choice but to agree.
