The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 69: Thanksgiving Show
As Thanksgiving approached, Nexus College was buzzing with preparations for its annual Thanksgiving showcase.
Every year, the college went all out, with various clubs putting on performances. The event was open to the public, drawing students from nearby schools.
In the end, the audience would vote for the best performance. Historically, the dance club always snagged the top prize, thanks to their professional members and impressive stage presence.
The students were buzzing with excitement, especially since Ella was the only one from their class in the dance club. Everyone was eager to get the inside scoop from her.
"Ella, come on, spill the beans! What's the dance club planning this year? Is it going to be amazing? I heard last year's Campus Queen was your club president, Lily. Is she coming back to perform?"
Ella basked in the attention, answering vaguely, "Don't crowd around me, guys. I'm just a newbie. The club hasn't decided on the dance yet. But Lily might come back, and she'll put on a great show!"
Lila looked at her with envy, "I'm so jealous, Ella. You're so pretty and such a good dancer. You'll be performing too, right? You're this year's Campus Queen contest winner; I bet you'll get tons of votes!'
Ella blushed and laughed, gently tapping Lila, "It's just a temporary lead. Don't say that. Even though I'm new, the senior members have decided to let me perform."
Natalia exclaimed dramatically, "Ella, you're amazing! Unlike some people in the snooker club, who are pretty simple-minded, just good at playing. They embarrass themselves on stage every year! Last year, they even told jokes they downloaded from the internet. So lame!"
As she spoke, she glanced sideways at Victoria and Mira sitting in the back row.
Mira rolled her eyes, while Victoria ignored her and continued tidying up her desk.
The two of them happily planned to head to the cafeteria. Just as they reached the door, a group blocked their way. It was Vivian and the dance club members, coming to find Ella. They completely blocked the exit.
Victoria said coldly, "Move." Mira also glared at them.
Vivian looked at the two of them, remembering how Dennis had kicked her out of the car because of them, humiliating her. And yesterday at Moonshadow Hall, they had better seats than her.
She couldn't stand them. She stepped forward, chin raised arrogantly, "I won't move. What are you going to do about it?" Then she called out into the classroom, "Ella, we're here to get you for practice."
Vivian was referring to the Thanksgiving performance, making a point to come to the classroom so everyone would know Ella was close to them.
Ella giggled, "Vivian's here to get me for practice. I'll catch up with you guys later." She signaled Natalia and Lila to help her pack up, treating them like servants.
Victoria's face darkened. These dance club girls were as annoying as flies! She reached out and shoved Vivian hard, causing her to stumble back and knock into the girls behind her. Victoria and Mira calmly walked past them.
Vivian steadied herself and pointed at Victoria, shouting, "Stop! Victoria, you barbaric bitch! How dare you push me!"
Victoria didn't look back, scoffing, "Don't be a roadblock."
Vivian was fuming and wanted to charge at Victoria, but Ella held her back, gently persuading, "Vivian, don't waste your energy on her. Victoria's probably just stressed because the snooker club can't come up with a decent performance for Thanksgiving. We win every year, after all."
But in her mind, she thought, 'What a joke. Last time, so many girls at Brightlight University couldn't beat Victoria. If Vivian goes, she'll just get beaten up too. What's the point of being so impulsive?'
"The snooker club is no match for us. Losing to us isn't shameful! What are they going to perform, clown acts?"
Saying the snooker club's performances were boring was one thing, but Mira couldn't stand them saying the snooker club was inferior to the dance club.
She turned around and shouted, "The snooker club is the top club! We just won a gold medal for the school in the recent intercollegiate tournament! That's an honor for the school! Your dance club only performs on campus. Try winning an award outside!"
Their argument drew a crowd. Some agreed that the dance club's performances were spectacular, while others sided with Mira, believing that bringing honor to the school was more impressive.
Seeing she was losing ground, Ella quickly tried to mediate, "Stop arguing, both clubs are great. I wanted Victoria to perform with me, but she's too stiff. Our parents sent her to dance classes, but she was too lazy to practice. She'd just embarrass herself on stage."
What started as a comparison between the two clubs had now turned into a personal attack on Victoria, causing the surrounding students to start gossiping about her.
Victoria smirked, looking at Ella with disdain, "Who says I can't dance?"
Vivian rolled her eyes, "You don't think flailing around counts as dancing, do you? In that case, everyone can dance. Anyway, we'll just wait to see what kind of joke your snooker club makes this year."
"I'm saying the snooker club will have the best performance this Thanksgiving!" Victoria said with unwavering confidence.
Ella laughed lightly, "You don't think you can perform snooker on stage, do you?"
Victoria lowered her gaze, her expression unreadable, "We'll beat you at what you do best—dancing."
Ella's heart skipped a beat, but she remembered Victoria's dance experience. She had only taken ballet for two years as a child, barely at an elementary level.
There was nothing to worry about. Ella smiled brightly and said, "Victoria, don't make promises you can't keep. Everyone's looking forward to your performance."
Victoria met her gaze, "Just wait and see."
On the way to the cafeteria, Mira whispered with admiration, "Victoria, you were so confident back there, I almost believed you. But can we outdance the dance club? They're professionals, but I can't dance at all. Not many in our club can."
Victoria replied, "I made the promise, so I'll handle it. Don't worry."
"You can dance? Oh my gosh, Victoria, you're amazing!" Mira looked at her with starry eyes.
Victoria didn't have years of dance training, but in her previous life, she had worked hard to master a dance.
It wasn't top-notch, but it was enough for a college stage performance and might even rival the dance club members.
