The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 31: A Direct Confrontation with "Shadow"

The next day, Flora was taken for a check-up, but the moment the little leopard was away from Victoria, it started screaming like a scared little kid.

Victoria had to tag along to keep Flora calm.

Luckily, the check-up showed Flora didn't have any parasites or viruses. Flora was just a bit weak and needed more goat milk to get its strength up. In three weeks, Flora could start eating minced meat.

The doctor also gave Victoria a weekly diet plan for Flora.

Victoria was a bit shocked to learn that an adult leopard could grow up to 6.5 feet long and needed to eat 9 pounds of meat a day, with a max of 44 pounds.

Right now, Flora only weighed about 4 pounds. Flora was nestled in Victoria's hand, licking her fingers, with just a tiny white spot of a milk tooth showing.

Victoria thought, 'Forget it, let's raise it like a kitten for now, and later as a big cat. After all, cats eat meat too.'

After the check-up, Victoria took Flora home. Flora lay on the carpet drinking milk while Victoria opened the dark web.

After advancing to the semi-finals in the last hacker competition, she had started military training and now finally had time to compete.

The semi-finals were a multi-player attack and defense match. Participants were assigned opponents after clicking to accept the challenge during the competition period.

Coincidentally, Victoria's randomly assigned group included her target—Shadow.

Seeing this familiar ID, she smiled, "First head-to-head encounter, let's see how good you are."

There were six people in the group, each with their own fortress. Points were scored by effectively attacking the opponent's fortress, and successful counterattacks also earned points.

Victoria quickly set up her firewall and then began a fierce attack, first targeting the weaker players. After gaining a points advantage, she intentionally surrounded Shadow.

Others noticed Victoria's intention and joined her in attacking Shadow, allowing her to leverage their efforts and take a large chunk of Shadow's points.

But Shadow wasn't easily defeated. He quickly counterattacked, and while Victoria managed to escape unscathed, the others weren't so lucky and had their points taken by Shadow.

In the end, Victoria took first place in the group, with Shadow coming in second.

Shadow looked at the top-ranked "X" and pondered, 'Why does it feel like this X is targeting me? No way, in the group stage, everyone is an opponent. I must be overthinking it.'

Victoria left a mark on Shadow's computer during the competition and easily found his IP address afterward.

Unexpectedly, Shadow was currently in Sunhaven, and very close to Nexus College!

In the previous life, Shadow appeared around Ella after some time and was very mysterious, never showing his face, only manipulating online trolls and monitoring public opinion. Victoria had thought he wasn't in Sunhaven, but it turned out he was so close.

Victoria left a string of characters on his desktop: [Hello, Shadow.]

Then she cleaned up her traces.

When Shadow exited the dark web and saw his desktop altered, who knew what his reaction would be.

Victoria rested at home and played with Flora. In the afternoon, she suddenly realized her transfer hadn't been received.

After checking, she saw that 24 hours had passed and Ethan still hadn't accepted the money.

Victoria thought, 'What's going on? Why hasn't he accepted it? Is he that busy?'

It was a minor issue, so Victoria didn't give it any more thought.

Classes officially started.

Despite Flora meowing and acting all spoiled, Victoria didn't take it to the classroom. Flora was too clingy and couldn't be spoiled!

In the classroom, Victoria sat alone in a row, and others avoided that row when they saw her.

Ella was surrounded by a few girls, chatting lively in the middle of the classroom.

Mira came in just before the bell, saw Victoria sitting high in the back row, and ran over with her canvas bag.

"Victoria, you're here early. Where did you go after receiving the prize yesterday?"

Victoria replied, "I went home."

Mira took a bite of bread and mumbled, "I woke up late and didn't have breakfast. Do you want some?"

Victoria raised her hand to decline.

Mira smiled awkwardly, "Why didn't you choose a single room? The teacher said there was one reserved for you, but it's not as good as choosing your own. I wanted to live next to you."

Victoria responded coolly, "I didn't want to."

Mira nodded, "Oh right, you're from Sunhaven, right? After military training, you went straight home."

Victoria felt she was talking too much and didn't want to answer anymore.

Just then, the bell rang, and a short-haired, bespectacled teacher walked into the classroom.

"Hello everyone, I'm your teacher for this class, Skylar Tate."

Wendy in the front row suddenly interrupted, "Sunhaven resident? Mira, did you forget? Victoria is the unwanted adopted daughter of the Scott family!"

Lila also mocked, "Just because she was first in the training assessment, does she have to be so arrogant? Mira, you're trying to please her, but she doesn't even care about you."

Natalia rolled her eyes, "Didn't she get a prize? Maybe she rented a place and thinks she's a Sunhaven resident, what a joke!"

Lila chimed in, "Exactly, she must be copying Ella. Ella rented the best place in Scenic Gardens around here. It's so vain that Victoria can only afford to rent for a few months despite spending tens of thousands of dollars."

They were all Ella's followers, receiving gifts and badmouthing Victoria.

Mira stopped eating her bread, angrily pointing at them, "You guys are so mean! I wasn't even talking to you. You're acting like shrews!"

Lila assumed Mira was too mild to fight back, but Mira shocked her by snapping a curse. This made Lila jump up and scream. "How dare you call me a shrew? You're the one who is acting like a shrew!"

A loud bang came from the podium, and Skylar sternly scolded, "The girl in the back! What did you say? If you want to shout so loudly, come up here and teach the class!"

Lila realized they were in class, nervously fidgeting with her fingers, and said in a low, aggrieved voice, "Sorry, Ms. Tate, she cursed me first."

Skylar retorted, "Who cursed you? I didn't hear it. I only heard you shouting. What's your name? I'll have the Office of Student Affairs give you a warning."

Lila, trembling with fear and tears in her eyes, wanted to argue but was afraid of enraging Skylar further. Reluctantly, she sat back down.

Skylar knocked on the lectern and emphasized again, "You can talk quietly and play with your phones, but basic respect is required. Do not disrupt the class! No eating in class, and no shouting!"

Hearing this, Mira quickly stuffed her bread into her desk, not daring to eat anymore. Luckily, Skylar didn't notice, or she would have been scolded too.

Victoria sneered and thought, 'Ella and her followers are such idiots. Do they even realize we're in class?'
