The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 174: Samuel's Gossip
Diana's worried expression vanished instantly, replaced by excitement.
"Teresa is finally willing to come back? Wait, she usually doesn't even return for important holidays. Why now all of a sudden?"
David replied, "I heard she got hurt on a mission and can't stay on the front lines anymore. Her family arranged for her to be transferred back to Sunhaven. She'll be stationed here permanently, doing desk work."
Samuel listened quietly, his brow furrowing as he thought, 'She got hurt? How bad is it? Teresa is so reckless. She volunteered for an overseas military base right after graduation, always going where the danger is.'
'Doesn't she ever think about her parents? It's been five years, and we barely see her once a year. Doesn't she miss home at all?'
Diana sighed, "Desk work is good. She can be with her family more often. She's been in the military for so many years, she must have gone through a lot. I wonder how bad her injury is."
Victoria stayed silent, but the name Teresa rang a bell.
In her past life, there was a military channel host named Teresa, known for her military background, tall stature, short hair, and striking presence.
Could it be the same person?
David patted Diana's hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, Teresa's all healed up. She's not your average girl. She has the same spirit Jacob had back in the day."
David drifted into memory.
In his youth, he had secretly enlisted in the military to avoid his family's plans for him. His father was furious but let him go since the spot was already secured.
That was when he met Teresa's father, Jacob Stewart.
Many of their comrades from those days now held high positions in the military, and they still occasionally met up.
The Stewart family had served in the military for three generations. Jacob, David's squad leader, was brave and responsible, even saving David's life on a mission.
Diana nodded and turned to Victoria. "You haven't met Teresa yet, have you?"
"She's a year younger than Samuel. They grew up together and were always at our house. They were very close. She's got a great personality. I'm sure you'll like her."
"Yes, I'm looking forward to meeting Teresa," Victoria said with a smile, glancing at Samuel. "Samuel, you must be excited to see her again, right?"
Victoria even suspected that the reason Samuel hadn't had a girlfriend all these years might be because he already had someone he liked, perhaps this long-separated Teresa.
Just then, the car slowed to a stop. They were home.
Samuel didn't answer, instead, he opened the car door and said, "I'm tired. I'm going to freshen up."
Watching him hurry away, Diana shook her head. "Do you think Samuel's really been thinking about Teresa all this time?"
David shrugged. "Let the kids figure it out themselves. They'll see each other soon enough."
Victoria, intrigued by the hint of a story between Samuel and Teresa, tried to get more details from Diana.
But Diana just smiled and said, "Victoria, I won't say much about Teresa. If you want to know, you'll have to ask Samuel yourself. You'll naturally learn more as you spend time with her in the future."
But seeing Samuel's attitude, it was clear he wouldn't say anything, leaving Victoria feeling a bit disappointed.
However, she did know a bit about Teresa.
In her past life, she often saw Teresa on the news, always composed and dignified, with a strong sense of justice and patriotism.
Victoria had a very positive impression of her.
Meanwhile, Jasmine had arranged to meet Ella at the central mall in Sunhaven.
This was the top luxury mall in the country, frequented by people dressed in designer clothes, perfectly matching Jasmine's tastes.
She had returned a day earlier than Victoria but had taken a day to rest before meeting up with Ella.
Eager to exchange information, Ella had immediately booked a flight from Silvervale to meet her.
The two friends greeted each other with compliments before linking arms and heading off to shop.
While picking out clothes, they naturally started talking about their recent travels and mentioned Victoria.
Ella asked skeptically, "Jasmine, are you sure you saw Victoria at The Emerald Atoll Archipelago?"
Jasmine, with a hint of disdain, replied, "It was definitely her. I saw her clearly."
Thinking about Victoria made the wound on her forehead throb.
She had fallen down the stairs and hit her head, and the injury hadn't healed yet. She was wearing a beret to cover it.
"Alright," Ella said, a bit deflated.
She had thought her trip to Zantria was impressive, but Victoria's destination was even more exclusive and upscale. It made her feel competitive.
But soon, she perked up and asked, "I saw on the news that an island at The Emerald Atoll Archipelago collapsed recently. Was that where Victoria was staying? Seems like island vacations aren't that great after all, too dangerous."
Jasmine's face darkened immediately. She glared at Ella. "No, I don't know. Can you stop talking about her? She annoys me."
Ella nodded vigorously. "Sure, I can't stand her either. By the way, have you found teammates for the esports competition?"
