The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 157: Ethan Does Not Participate

Jasmine was all in for this opportunity, and Victoria needed it just as much.

Plus, Victoria's gaming skills were top-notch; she could easily crush the competition. So why not jump in?

Nick was the first to speak up. "Count me in! Let's help Victoria snag that championship!"

Roy chuckled. "You just want to have some fun, don't you?"

Nick grinned. "You bet! And hey, there are five of us, so Victoria doesn't even need to find another teammate."

Eric glanced at Ethan and shook his head. "I'm cool with it, but you forgot, Ethan doesn't know how to play this game."

Nick smirked at Ethan. "No problem. Ethan can play support. The four of us can carry him, and we'll definitely win."

Finally, Nick felt like he had an edge over Ethan in something. He had to get Ethan on board!

Ethan raised an eyebrow and shot Nick a cold look. "You're assigning me a role now?" His tone was icy, and the others burst out laughing.

Nick quickly raised his hands in surrender. "I'm just trying to help Victoria win. If you don't want to join, we can find someone else."

Victoria noticed Ethan's hesitation and chimed in, "It's okay. Ethan doesn't know how to play anyway, and I don't want to drag him along. If you guys are up for it, let's team up tomorrow and get some practice in?"

With a month left before school started, there was still time to find another teammate.

She then grabbed her phone and left the game room, remembering she had a video call with Mira scheduled for tonight.

Eric couldn't hold back his laughter, and red wine sprayed from his mouth. The others tried to stifle their laughter but soon burst out.

Nick clutched his stomach, pointing at Ethan. "Serves you right, getting turned down by Victoria, haha!"

Growing up together, Nick was always a bit intimidated by Ethan. But seeing Victoria, who had just come back home, not giving Ethan any special treatment was too funny.

Ethan's face darkened, and he coldly asked, "What's so funny?"

The laughter died down, but everyone struggled to keep a straight face. It was the first time they saw Ethan being dismissed.

Despite this, Ethan wouldn't show Victoria any anger, which made it even more entertaining.

Since Victoria joined their group, they had seen more of Ethan's emotions, making things livelier.

Ethan huffed and left the game room, not in the mood to play anymore. Nick and Eric exchanged glances.

"Do you think he's really mad?" Nick whispered.

Eric shrugged. It was the first time he saw Ethan like this.

Maybe guys do get childish when rejected by someone they like.

Eric had dated many girls, always seeing them as replaceable. But Ethan was different. This was the first time Ethan liked someone, and it seemed serious.

Back in his room, Ethan washed up and sat at his computer, lost in thought.

When he snapped out of it, he realized the game "Glory" was open on his screen.

His hands jumped off the keyboard. What was he doing? He always thought this game was childish and boring.

But then he remembered Victoria's excited expression when she talked about the competition. He hesitated.

If someone else teamed up with her, they'd probably play together often, chatting while gaming.

The thought of another guy being so close to Victoria while he was left out made his mouth taste bitter.

Must be the toothpaste tonight; he'd ask Samuel if they had his usual brand tomorrow.

Ethan shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts, shut down the computer, and went to bed.

But he tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Meanwhile, Victoria was chatting with Mira in her room. Victoria had been traveling abroad, while Mira was working part-time at a coffee shop.

Due to the time difference, they hadn't had a face-to-face conversation in a while, only exchanging occasional messages.

Mira was excited to see Victoria. "Victoria, I missed you! Where are you? Aren't you cold dressed like that?"

Victoria explained that she was no longer in Lytheria but at The Emerald Atoll Archipelago, where it was summer and very hot.

If it weren't for the rain tonight, she wouldn't be able to sleep without the air conditioning.

Mira looked envious. She wanted to vacation on an island too but didn't say it out loud. She knew Victoria was wealthy and didn't want to owe her more favors.

Victoria had already helped her a lot by providing a job. As friends, there should be give and take, not just one person benefiting.

She'd wait until she graduated and earned money to travel wherever she wanted.

They shared updates about their lives. Victoria talked about her travel adventures and showed stunning photos, while Mira shared the new holiday treats at the dessert shop and stories about quirky customers.

They had a great time, and an hour flew by. Mira yawned, and Victoria noticed. "Are you tired? You have work tomorrow. Maybe we should call it a night."

Mira quickly waved her hand. "It's rare to see you. I can chat a bit longer."

"Alright, another half hour then." Victoria checked the time.

Sunhaven was four hours behind, so it was only nine o'clock there, not too late.

She suddenly remembered something and rummaged through her nightstand. "Oh, Mira, I got you a souvenir. See if you like it?"
