The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 148: Jasmine's Scheming
Tony paused for a moment, then said cautiously, "Youve got a point. But someone like that might be tough to approach."
Jasmine rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "True, but now that he's on an island near us, it's like fate. I'll figure out a way to get close to him and win him over."
"Tony, you're still pretty new in Sunhaven. Roy's friends at school are all loaded and have connections. I've got to hustle harder."
Before Jessica sent them to Nexus College, she kept reminding them to make friends with kids from wealthy families.
These classmates would be valuable connections in the future, especially since Jasmine wanted to break into the entertainment industry.
Some of these rich kids might inherit their family businesses and could provide her with resources.
These days, hard work alone doesn't cut it. Connections and resources are what really matter for climbing the social ladder.
Jasmine really wanted to be friends with Lily, whose family was even more prestigious than the Murphy family and had real political clout.
Unfortunately, Lily looked down on her as an illegitimate child and was very cold to her.
But that didn't matter. Once she became a famous star in the entertainment industry, with countless wealthy suitors supporting her, those rich girls who looked down on her would be fighting to be her friend.
Tony also stared at the distant yacht, lost in thought.
Roy was two years older than him and would start interning at the company next year.
If Tony obediently finished his studies and then joined the company, he would be two years behind Roy.
By then, Roy would have established himself and gathered a group of loyal followers. How could Tony compete with that?
To make Roy lower his guard, he was currently studying acting, which was a waste of time for him.
His real goal was to compete with Roy for control of the company, and what he really wanted to study was finance.
Tony spoke with determination, "I've been talking with Mom, and next semester she's sending me to study abroad."
He had been hesitant, but seeing Jasmine's ambition today, he felt he couldn't back down.
Jasmine looked at him in surprise. "What? You're going abroad? Then we won't be able to live and study together anymore."
They had grown up together and were very close, never having been apart for such a long time. She already felt a bit reluctant at the thought of their separation.
Tony smiled reassuringly, gently ruffling her hair. "Yeah, but we've grown up and need to take on our own responsibilities. When I'm not around, you have to take care of yourself."
Jasmine nodded firmly. "Don't worry, by the time you come back, I'll definitely be a shining star. Tony, I'll be able to help you."
With their plans set, they went to have lunch, each lost in their own thoughts.
Afterward, Tony stayed in the study to handle his study abroad application, while Jasmine went back to the beach to observe the yacht.
Using binoculars, she could only see a few figures on the boat, unable to make out who was who or what they were doing.
After a while, her eyes grew tired, and she finally gave up, slamming the binoculars onto the table in frustration.
"Isn't there a binocular with a higher magnification that can see more clearly?"
The servant adjusted the binoculars and said softly, "I'm sorry, Ms. Murphy, but we have a rule here: to protect the privacy of the wealthy around us, high-magnification binoculars are not allowed. If caught, the consequences would be severe."
The people living on the surrounding islands were all rich and powerful, coming here to relax. If someone was caught spying on them, they would make that person regret it.
Jasmine thought about it and realized she couldn't afford to offend these people, so she reluctantly picked up the binoculars and continued observing.
The servant tentatively suggested, "Ms. Murphy, if you want a clearer view, you could have someone take you out on a speedboat."
Jasmine snapped her fingers. "You're pretty smart. Go find someone who can drive a speedboat and take me over there right away."
The servant quickly found a speedboat driver, and Jasmine, unable to wait, immediately boarded the boat and told him to head towards the yacht.
The driver hesitated, "Ms. Murphy, it's getting dark soon, and it might rain tonight. Their yacht can handle the weather, but it could be dangerous for you on the speedboat."
Jasmine angrily opened the weather app on her phone. "Are you trying to avoid work? The forecast says it's going to be clear for the next few days. How could it suddenly rain? I want to go now, immediately!"
The driver didn't know how to explain that the weather at sea could change in an instant, a fact he knew from years of experience.
Seeing that Jasmine wasn't the type to listen to reason, he sighed and started the boat.
The rain tonight wouldn't be too heavy, and if it came to it, they could rush back. Maybe a little rain would teach Jasmine a lesson.
Halfway there, Jasmine picked up the binoculars and could finally make out the faces on the yacht.
She could vaguely identify Roy and a few of his close friends. Samuel was even more handsome than in the magazine photos, and she recognized him immediately.
But who was that young woman? The more she looked, the more familiar the woman seemed.
Wait! Wasn't that annoying girl from her class, Victoria?
Jasmine put down the binoculars and blinked several times to see more clearly.
It really was Victoria! How did she get involved with Samuel?
At that moment, Victoria and the others were on the deck, enjoying grilled fish made from the seafood they had caught that afternoon.
Samuel handed a piece of grilled fish to Victoria. "Victoria, try this."
With her hands busy, Victoria took a small bite, savoring the delicious flavor. She nodded approvingly at Samuel, who smiled and placed the fish on her plate.
Jasmine saw this scene and frowned deeply, unable to believe it.
It must be a visual mistake. Samuel couldn't possibly be so nice to Victoria; their social statuses were worlds apart.
From this distance, she couldn't see their expressions clearly, so she kept urging the driver, "Go faster, get closer!"
The driver looked at the darkening sky and reminded her again, "Ms. Murphy, the sun is setting. We should head back immediately."
