Romance
The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 75: New Friends
Sophie quickly replied, "No way I believe that! Next time someone tries to pull that, I'm shutting them down for sure!"
Willow nodded seriously. "You're awesome, Victoria. Even if you weren't a Hamilton, you'd still stand out. You totally fit the bill as Mrs. Hamilton's daughter. Those people spreading rumors about you being a spoiled rich kid? They can't touch you in looks or talent."
Victoria smiled warmly. "Thanks for having my back. You guys are amazing too!"
At Nexus College, she usually kept a cool demeanor because her classmates had been unfriendly and hurt her deeply in her past life.
She used to be lively and cheerful, but her past experiences made her decide to close off her heart.
Now, with the Hamilton family's love and new friends, she was gradually opening up and returning to her true self.
As the three chatted happily, Diana arrived. "You kids are getting along so well, I don't even need to introduce you."
Victoria called out sweetly, "Mom, we met at the snooker league."
Diana's eyes crinkled with a smile. "Oh yes, my poor memory! You all play snooker, so you have a lot in common. But enough talking, let's get to dance practice."
She then turned to Willow and Sophie with a stern look. "Why haven't you two changed yet? Hurry up!"
Sophie exaggeratedly blinked at Willow, saying, "Look at Mrs. Hamilton! Her attitude changed so fast! When has she ever smiled at us like this or spoken so softly? The rumors out there say she doesn't like her daughter, but from what I can see, she absolutely adores her!"
Willow rolled her eyes at Sophie. "They're mother and daughter, what do you expect?"
They quickly changed and came out just in time to see Victoria dancing to the music. They watched intently.
Victoria's dance was graceful, though not perfect, but she infused it with emotion and could engage the audience. Her movements were elegant and smooth, with her own unique style. They were mesmerized.
When the dance ended, Victoria finished with a graceful turn and bow. Willow and Sophie clapped enthusiastically, and Diana also clapped lightly in encouragement.
She praised Victoria briefly, then pointed out several issues in detail, teaching her how to correct each move and even demonstrating herself.
"Got it?" Diana asked, taking the handkerchief Willow handed her and gently dabbing the sweat from her temples.
Victoria nodded repeatedly. Diana's breakdown of the moves was indeed more elegant, and her explanations were very thorough, not just showing how to do it but also explaining the principles behind it.
Victoria's understanding of the dance deepened. What followed was repeated practice, first breaking down the moves and then stringing them together to increase fluidity.
Diana watched Victoria practice with satisfaction. Her comprehension was truly high; each practice showed noticeable improvement. Her control over her facial expressions and body was excellent, making her a natural stage performer.
As night fell, Diana left to handle theater matters, leaving Victoria, Willow, and Sophie in the dance studio, sweating profusely.
Willow and Sophie were used to practicing for hours every day, but they were surprised that Victoria could keep up without complaining.
The truth was, Victoria's stamina had been pretty average in the past life. But ever since her rebirth, she knew the challenges ahead would be tough. She had made a conscious effort to train herself, going through military drills and snooker practice. Now, her stamina had improved significantly.
The three practiced until they were drenched in sweat and their stomachs growled with hunger. They finally took a break, sitting on the floor, sipping water, and laughing at each other's disheveled appearances.
Sophie wiped the sweat from her forehead and asked, "Victoria, why'd you suddenly decide to go all out with dancing? If I didn't want to keep up with you, I would've taken a break ages ago."
Victoria laughed. "Our school's hosting a Thanksgiving performance, and I'm representing the snooker club."
Sophie said, "Your club's performances are always so cringey! Even folks from our school know about it. Francis even jokes about it with Dennis."
The Thanksgiving performance at Nexus College was a big deal, even a hot topic among the Sunhaven University crowd. Brightlight University's snooker club never missed a chance to mock them.
Willow tapped Sophie on the head. "Watch your mouth! With Victoria's dance skills and Mrs. Hamilton's guidance, this year won't be embarrassing. She might even have the best performance."
Sophie glanced at Victoria awkwardly and laughed. "Willow's right, Victoria! You're definitely going to win an award up there! Your progress today was so obvious; you're going to blow everyone away! Willow and I will be there to cheer you on!"
They chatted and laughed, then had a simple fitness meal before parting ways.
Victoria climbed into the car sent by her family, slumping in the spacious back seat, her mind still on the dance moves.
Every day after that, Victoria went to practice dancing, often with Willow and Sophie.
During breaks, they discussed dance techniques, costume materials, and designs, and also chatted about daily life, quickly becoming close.
Nexus College began preparing for the Thanksgiving performance, setting up the stage and finalizing the program.
The snooker club submitted their performance, "Sword Dance," sparking discussions among the students.
"How strange, the snooker club is doing a dance? Did I read that right? Is it a mistake from the dance club?"
"No mistake, it's the snooker club's newcomer, Victoria. Apparently, she can dance and is challenging the dance club. Impressive!"
The Nexus College student council's publicity department posted the program list on the forum early and started a poll for "Which performance are you most looking forward to?"
Because the snooker club usually did comedic acts, this year's seemingly serious performance piqued curiosity and anticipation, earning many votes. It even surpassed the dance club's expected highlights, topping the poll.
Someone noticed that the snooker club's performer, Victoria, was the runner-up in the Campus Queen contest. They checked her photos and found her stunningly beautiful, like a fairy, prompting many to vote for her, pushing her votes past Ella's.
Ella noticed quickly and was furious, immediately contacting Bodhi to rig the votes.
In broad daylight, her votes surged rapidly, catching the attention of many voting students and other contestants, who reported the anomaly to the organizers.
The dance club members saw the program list and informed Lily.
Lily was preparing a ballet and street dance mashup, showcasing both elegance and the coolness young people loved, highlighting the dance club's talent and professionalism.
"Can Victoria really dance the Sword Dance? But the costumes can be very elaborate and beautiful, and the stage can be decorated lavishly, easily drawing attention."
Ella confidently said, "She can't. She only took ballet for two years in elementary school and hasn't danced since. My parents told me. Lily, you might not know, but Victoria was raised by my parents."
Lily nodded. "Yeah, I heard about that. Sword Dance requires high body control. It looks simple, but without years of training, the moves can easily look stiff and awkward."
Vivian snorted. "She can't dance, so she's trying to win with stage design. Dream on! Let's see how she embarrasses herself on stage!"
