The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 40: Aloof And Unattainable
Natalia and Lila knew the Scott family was a big deal, but they were nothing compared to the Smiths or the Allens.
All they could do now was hope Ethan wouldn't take his anger out on them.
The three of them slinked off to the side.
Natalia asked nervously, "Ella, Victoria's got such a good relationship with Ethan and the others, do you think..."
Ella cut her off, "No way, they won't start a fight over a girl."
Lila, feeling jealous, said, "How does she get all the guys? I thought it was just Eric, but now three out of the Charming Four are backing her up."
Ella sighed, "That's just how Victoria is. But this time, she's juggling several guys. The Charming Four? They'll figure out what she's really like eventually."
Victoria didn't want to pay them any mind. When she saw Ethan and the others come in, she stood up, twirling her phone, and greeted them.
Seeing Victoria's laid-back attitude, Ethan's expression softened. "All done?"
Victoria smirked, "Yeah, it was a piece of cake."
Mira, feeling more at ease with them, proudly chimed in, "She was awesome! She scored a Maximum Break. I bet Gavin was floored."
Ethan looked surprised, not expecting Victoria to be so good at snooker. Too bad he missed it because of other commitments.
Nick exclaimed, "Victoria, how are you better at snooker than me!"
Eric grinned, "Really? Let's watch the video later."
"Let's go eat," Ethan said.
Victoria raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'Are you gonna make me pay again?'
Ethan smirked, brushing a strand of hair from her forehead, signaling her to relax.
Victoria stepped back a bit, coughed awkwardly, and grabbed her bag, "Let's go, Mira."
Mira smiled, "Then I won't be shy."
They probably wouldn't mind one more person.
It seemed like the student council president, Dennis, was also into Victoria. One was aloof, the other gentle. Mira wondered what Victoria thought about it.
They all headed to a private restaurant near the school, and soon Roy showed up too.
As soon as he walked in, he asked about Victoria's match.
Nick, sounding proud, said, "Of course she won!"
He spoke like he had seen it himself.
Victoria shook her head and invited Mira to go to the restroom with her.
In the fancy restroom, Mira couldn't help but ask, "Victoria, did Dennis come to talk to you at the pool hall? Why didn't you chat with him more?"
Victoria replied coolly, "Not really close."
Mira sighed, "If you talk more, you'll get to know him. Dennis is really nice. Unlike Ethan and the others, who always seem distant. When he was mad earlier, it looked like he was gonna hit someone."
Victoria lowered her eyes, "I know."
Dennis was a gentleman, someone she would've liked in the past.
But after seeing how devoted and obedient he was to Ella in her past life, Victoria now felt a subtle but clear aversion towards him.
It was like something pure had been tainted; the mere thought made her feel sick.
Even though he hadn't gotten involved with Ella yet, Victoria couldn't just forget it; it was her memory.
"Don't worry, Ethan won't hit women," Victoria chuckled softly.
Despite Ethan's aloof and seemingly arrogant demeanor, he had the right to be proud and had his own principles.
Feeling relieved, Mira held Victoria's hand, "It's great knowing you, getting to hang out with these handsome guys every day."
But she couldn't help but ask, "Victoria, who do you think is the most handsome? I can't decide. Dennis is gentle and warm; Ethan is aloof and unattainable."
"You're choosing? Go ahead and choose in front of them if you dare," Victoria retorted, not wanting to answer.
Actually, she had a slight preference in her heart. Aloof and unattainable? Quite interesting.
Because of the tragic experiences in her past life, she had always shielded her emotions, presenting a prickly exterior to those with malicious intents. But why was he, who came from a privileged background, like this?
Mira giggled, "I don't dare to choose."
She wanted Victoria to choose, not herself!
Back in the private room, Mira felt a bit guilty and didn't dare to look at Ethan.
Victoria's gaze lingered on Ethan for a few seconds; he met her gaze, curiosity evident in his expression.
Victoria shook her head and smiled, thinking she was just confirming if he really was aloof and unattainable.
Nick nudged Victoria with his arm, grinning mischievously, "Victoria, do you have a little secret?"
Seeing Victoria ignore him, he turned to interrogate Mira, "Mira, did you two just talk about something secretly?"
Mira saw his handsome face grinning at her and took a deep breath to calm her pounding heart.
After a while, she blushed and answered, "No, we didn't say anything."
Nick persisted, "You're blushing, so you must be lying. If you're embarrassed, just whisper it to me."
He leaned in even closer to listen.
Mira was embarrassed and didn't know what to do.
They'd only met twice, and she had no experience with physical contact with young men!
Her face flushed all the way to the tips of her ears.
Victoria couldn't stand it anymore and reached out to push Nick away, "Don't bully Mira! Or I'll tell Samuel you're bullying my friend!"
Nick quickly backed off, waving his hands, "Victoria, you're so heartless, how can you tattle on me!"
Victoria replied, "Because you're bullying a little girl!"
"You're also a little girl, how could I bully you..."
Everyone watched Nick pretend to be cute and bicker, cheering from the side.
Ethan watched them laugh and joke, deep in thought.
They must have talked about something related to him; otherwise, Victoria wouldn't have stared at him like that.
What was it? He really wanted to know.
