The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 130: A Wonderful Coincidence
When William heard Ross was willing to help, his eyes filled with tears of gratitude. He shook Ross' hand over and over, thanking him like crazy.
But Ross looked worried and said they needed Samuel's approval since he was in charge on their ship.
Ross went back to talk to Samuel, while William paced nervously, understanding their hesitation but hoping the person in charge was kind-hearted.
Luckily, Samuel wasn't the type to dodge responsibility; he quickly agreed to Ross' request.
The girl helped Joe onto the small boat. As they were being pulled onto the cruise ship, Victoria recognized the girl as Calista.
Once on board, Calista quickly spotted Victoria, the only other girl there, and exclaimed, "What are you doing here?"
Victoria replied, "I'm here with my brother."
After a brief exchange, Calista helped Joe to the infirmary.
Even though Victoria and her group were young and healthy, the doctor had brought heart medication just in case.
She gave Joe the medicine and did some basic treatment, finally stabilizing his heart rate.
The doctor sighed in relief, took off her stethoscope, and said, "He's out of danger now, but we need to get to shore ASAP so he can get proper care."
Hearing this, Calista, who had been tense, finally relaxed.
She had only met Joe on the ship and didn't know him well, but seeing an elderly man collapse in front of her had been really scary.
Despite their age difference, Joe was knowledgeable and kind, and Calista enjoyed their conversations.
With food shortages on the ship and her luggage lost, Joe had shared his food with her, saying he had a poor appetite because of his age.
He was truly a respectable man.
Feeling relieved, Calista leaned against the railing, enjoying the sea breeze.
Victoria walked over and gently patted her shoulder. "Calista, what a coincidence."
Calista nodded. "I'm so glad I ran into you guys; otherwise, Joe would have been in real trouble today."
Victoria asked curiously, "Is Joe a relative of yours?"
Calista shook her head. "I just met him recently, but he's such a kind old man."
She thought of her own strict and unfeeling grandfather, and her tone grew wistful.
If her grandfather had been as open-minded and generous as Joe, she wouldn't have had to break ties with her family. She hadn't been home in three years.
Suddenly, Victoria remembered something. "There's another coincidence. A few days ago, my brother was fishing and caught a suitcase. Guess whose it was."
Calista's delicate eyebrows arched slightly. "Could it be mine?"
Her suitcase had fallen into the sea during a storm a few days ago, and it contained most of her important documents, causing her a lot of trouble.
She had been worried sick, though thankfully her most crucial photography equipment was safe.
She had come to Lytheria to capture photos of the Northern Lights and had never considered giving up despite the difficulties.
Victoria smiled mysteriously. "Yep, it was yours. What a coincidence!"
She remembered Diana's suggestion to find a girlfriend for Samuel.
Calista, with her elegant demeanor and adventurous spirit, seemed like a perfect match.
Samuel, an outstanding young man, would likely appreciate a brave and ambitious girl like Calista.
Given the serendipitous events, Victoria felt it was the perfect opportunity to introduce them.
Calista smiled. "I really need to thank you all. Not just for my luggage, but also for helping Joe today."
Victoria replied, "Sure, I'll take you to meet my brother so you can thank him in person."
At that moment, Samuel was discussing the situation with Ross.
The cruise ship was overcrowded, and there weren't enough rooms.
It would take another day to reach the shore, so they couldn't bring everyone on board.
Samuel decided to prioritize the elderly, children, and women from the passenger ship, bringing them ashore first and sharing some food with those remaining.
They also sent the exact location of the stranded passenger ship to the company and the Lytheria government, requesting rescue ships.
When Victoria brought Calista over, Samuel had just finished making his decisions.
The small boats were efficiently ferrying food to the passenger ship and bringing people back.
Calista looked at Samuel with admiration; he was only a few years older than her but was so capable and kind-hearted.
Victoria whispered something to Samuel, who then approached Calista and greeted her politely. "Hey, I see you know Victoria."
Calista gracefully tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, we met once before. I wanted to thank you for finding my luggage and for helping everyone on our ship."
She had thought that the items lost in the sea were gone forever and had already planned to replace her documents.
Samuel waved it off. "No problem at all."
He hadn't expected to find the owner of the suitcase he had fished out two days ago so soon.
He looked at Calista with curiosity; she had an elegant demeanor and seemed well-educated, likely from a good family.
He wondered why she was traveling alone and if her family wasn't worried about her.
Although she was a few years older than Victoria, it still seemed unusual.
The thought of Victoria traveling alone and facing such dangers was unbearable to him.
But since it was their first meeting, he refrained from asking such personal questions and kept the conversation polite.
