The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 70: Lily Returns Home
In the afternoon, they headed to the snooker club for practice. Even though the league was over, the club kept up regular training to stay sharp.
Eric showed up today and gathered everyone to talk about the Thanksgiving performance. As the top club in the school, they needed to put together a good show.
No one spoke up; they all exchanged hesitant glances. They were eager to compete in matches, but none of them wanted to embarrass themselves on stage.
It wasn't that they lacked talent—Ethan, for instance, played the piano really well—but he wasn't willing, and no one dared to suggest he sign up.
Just then, Victoria raised her hand. "I'll perform this year."
The room erupted in applause and surprise. In the past, no one wanted to go on stage, so they had to draw straws to see who the unlucky performer would be. Victoria stepping up was a huge relief for everyone.
Victoria was embarrassed, and said, "Actually, I argued with the dance club today. They said our performances are terrible, so I want to beat them at the Thanksgiving show."
"That's right! Our snooker club is the best. Even if it's a performance, we can still beat them! It's all on you, Victoria! You're our hope!"
"Yeah, last time on the bus to the league, they were just cheerleaders and acted so arrogant. It's all because of Lily that the dance club is so cocky. Victoria, you will crush them."
Mira whispered to Elise next to her, "Elise, who is Lily? I've never seen her."
"She's the president of the dance club," Elise replied, glancing at Eric on stage before leaning in closer to Mira. "She and Eric used to date, but he broke up with her. Since then, she's been against our club. The feud between the two clubs started with her. Then she went abroad for an exchange program for six months, so you freshmen haven't met her."
Mira's eyebrows shot up in surprise, her face lighting up with excitement at the gossip.
Lily was the heiress of the Martin family from Sunhaven, with many suitors, but she had high standards and didn't fancy any of them until she met Eric in their freshman year.
Eric was charming and handsome, with a family background that matched Lily's. He won her over, but the Allen family was in the entertainment industry, so Eric had seen many beauties. He quickly lost patience with Lily's arrogance.
They were a high-profile couple on campus, envied by many. Their breakup was equally dramatic, causing Lily to retreat abroad to recover.
The dance club members naturally sided with Lily and were always hostile towards the snooker club, often clashing whenever they met.
"I heard Lily is back in the country. She'll show up at the Thanksgiving event. With her backing, the dance club will be even more arrogant. The Martin family is one of the school's board members, after all. Lily is a tough opponent. I don't think Victoria stands much of a chance."
Eric, however, was unfazed. "No worries, we'll fully support Victoria. If we win, we'll humiliate them. If we lose, it'll be just like every other year."
The room burst into laughter. Everyone decided to give their all to support Victoria. Even if they couldn't take first place, they would improve. As long as Victoria stepped on stage, there would be people voting for her.
After the discussion, Elise pulled Victoria and Mira into the office. "I need to tell you something. Do you remember we suspected someone was cheating in the Campus Queen voting? I had them check Ella's vote increase data, and the curve is suspicious. I also had the computer science department trace the voting IPs and found many votes came from the same IP address, located off-campus near Maplewood Avenue. I've reported this, and the school should handle it."
Mira jumped up excitedly. "I knew Ella couldn't have more votes than Victoria. Will she be disqualified?"
Elise thought for a moment. "Probably. If it's confirmed that she cheated, the school won't tolerate it."
Currently, Ella was in first place in the second round of voting, with Victoria a close second.
Mira beamed. "If Ella is disqualified for cheating, then Victoria will be the Campus Queen."
"Elise, thank you for this," Victoria said, feeling genuinely grateful as she saw how happy Elise was for her.
It seemed that without Ryan's help, Ella's cheating methods were too simple. But Ella wouldn't admit it easily.
That evening, the dance club gathered in the dance studio to welcome Lily. Ella was particularly excited. She had heard that Lily was Eric's ex-girlfriend and came from a powerful family.
As long as Lily disliked Victoria, Victoria would have a hard time at Nexus College. After all, Victoria was trying to flirt with Eric.
Lily wore a pink and white Chanel suit. Her fingers were slender and well-proportioned, her long hair cascading down to her waist, and her features were delicate and coldly beautiful.
Ella suddenly thought Lily resembled Victoria a bit. Though there were differences, both had the air of wealthy heiresses—proud, elegant, and composed. This was what Ella hated most.
Growing up in an ordinary family, she often came across as shallow and petty. She should have grown up in the affluent Scott family, but Victoria had stolen her life, making her suffer for eighteen years!
Lily brought gifts for everyone, luxury perfumes, and cosmetics. The senior members enthusiastically introduced everyone.
When it was Ella's turn, she suppressed her dislike and put on an innocent smile. "Hi, Lily, I'm Ella from the performing arts department. You're so beautiful!"
Lily smiled faintly. "You're very cute too," she said, handing over the gift.
Ella didn't care for such ordinary luxury items, but she pretended to like it and accepted it.
After the introductions, they began discussing the Thanksgiving event. Ella immediately brought up Victoria's claim that the snooker club would win the best performance.
The dance club girls also eagerly chimed in, "Victoria has gone too far. She even had Dennis kick us off the bus. You have to help us get revenge, Lily!"
They said many bad things about Victoria, making Lily form a negative impression before even meeting Victoria.
Hearing that Victoria was Eric's new girlfriend only added to Lily's pain. She thought she had moved on after six months away, but hearing he had a new girlfriend still stung.
