The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 203: Competitive Spirit

The sports car accelerated, and the wind tousled Victoria's hair. She casually tucked it behind her ear.

She was wearing a gown for the birthday party, and the night breeze felt chilly on her exposed skin.

Victoria gently rubbed her shoulders, and Ethan noticed her movement in the rearview mirror. He asked softly, "You cold?"

Victoria pressed her lips together. "A little."

Ethan didn't say anything. He stepped on the brake, and the car slowly pulled over to the side of the road.

Victoria looked at him in confusion as he turned and reached into the back seat, pulling out a neatly folded black coat. "Here, put this on."

Victoria hesitated for a moment, thinking about how Ethan often wore black. Was it because black highlighted his refined demeanor and striking features?

Ethan had already shaken out the coat and was ready to drape it over her. Victoria quickly took it with both hands. "I can do it myself, thanks."

Once she had the coat on and adjusted her dress, Ethan started the car again. This little detour had caused them to fall from the lead to the back of the pack.

Wrapped in Ethan's coat, Victoria felt a light warmth, and the coat had a faint scent, like burning cedar, cold yet with a hint of warmth.

Her eyelashes fluttered as she glanced at Ethan. His coat, like him, appeared noble and aloof but was actually warm and gentle inside.

Ethan kept his eyes on the road, but he saw Victoria staring at him through the rearview mirror. His lips curled into a barely noticeable smile as he asked casually, "Is there something on my face?"

Victoria quickly turned her head to look ahead, changing the subject. "That blue car in front is Roy's, right? He's driving so steadily. Unlike Nick, who's already out of sight. Good thing his car is bright red, easy to spot."

Ethan chuckled softly. "Do you like bright red?"

Ethan didn't have a bright red car. In fact, his collection was mostly black and white, with today's silver car being the brightest.

But if Victoria liked it, he could consider getting cars in all the colors of the rainbow.

"No," Victoria shook her head and looked around Ethan's car. "This silver Phantom is pretty cool. But my favorite color is purple."

"So, out of the four cars, you like Eric's the best?" Ethan squinted at the dark purple car ahead, feeling a sudden competitive urge.

He pressed down on the accelerator, and the engine roared as the car sped up. He warned, "Hold on, I'm speeding up."

Victoria had just said, "His purple is too dark. I like a lighter shade," when the powerful acceleration pressed her back into her seat.

The wind rushed in stronger, and Victoria turned her face to avoid it, laughing joyfully. "Faster!"

Despite the rapid acceleration, the car's suspension was excellent, and the seats were comfortable. She felt nothing but exhilaration.

Unfortunately, the "You are speeding!" warning soon sounded, and Ethan had to slow down to the speed limit.

Roy didn't react, letting Ethan pass.

But Eric got competitive, refusing to let Ethan overtake him, even speeding up and changing lanes to block him. The two of them laughed and chased each other down the road.

Nick, who was in the lead, slowed down to join the fun.

Finally, near a bend at Autumn Mountain, Ethan found an opportunity to overtake and took the lead.

Nick pounded his steering wheel in frustration. "Eric, it's your fault for cutting me off earlier. That's how Ethan found an opening."

Eric rolled his eyes. "You messed up the whole thing. If you hadn't been in the way, I would have kept him behind. Ethan's driving more cautiously with Victoria in the car. He's the easiest to beat today."

The two of them argued in the back, while Victoria and Ethan exchanged a triumphant glance and smiled.

Once they entered Autumn Mountain, there were no speed limits. Ethan pushed the car to 110 mph, but considering the winding mountain roads, he didn't go any faster.

The Phantom was built for safety and comfort, not speed, and with Victoria in the car, he wasn't taking any risks.

Autumn Mountain had a high accident rate, with crashes and fatalities every year.

Nick's Ferrari, with its superior acceleration, soon overtook Ethan. As he passed, Nick whistled proudly.

His car could theoretically reach 217 mph, though this wasn't a professional track, so he didn't push it to the limit but still managed to pass Ethan.

Halfway up the mountain, they saw a checkpoint ahead with bright lights and music, indicating some event. Nick turned on his hazard lights and slowly stopped at the checkpoint.

A few young men saw his car and whistled in admiration. "Dude, your car is awesome! That classic red Ferrari, which woman wouldn't be impressed?"

Even the young men wanted to take a seat in it.
