The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 68: Roy's Family Matters
After getting the tickets, Mira waved the VIP tickets with a grin, mimicking Vivian's earlier tone, "Looks like we got the best seats in the house! Wonder where some people's tickets are. Maybe they don't have any at all!"
She raised her eyebrows dramatically and covered her mouth, wearing a teasing expression.
Victoria burst out laughing, while Ella clenched her phone in anger. It was all that unreliable scalper's fault!
Vivian and the other dance club members glared at Ella. She had bragged about getting tickets, and everyone had come excitedly, only to wait at the entrance for ages with no tickets, wasting their trip and getting mocked by Victoria and Mira!
Ella dialed the scalper's number, her tone fierce, "I don't care how you do it, I need my tickets right now! Otherwise, you'll never do business again. I'll expose you online for scamming and report you to the theater!"
The scalper begged for mercy.
Ella watched as Victoria and Ethan's group entered through the VIP entrance, biting her lip so hard it bled.
Eventually, the scalper managed to get her a few regular tickets. The dance club members lined up at the end of the queue, waiting to enter.
The night wind was a bit chilly, making the girls in short skirts stomp their feet and curse. "Did you see that? Victoria went in with Ethan. Maybe they took our tickets!"
Ella said confidently, "It must be them! The scalper said he had saved some good tickets for me, but someone called and booked them yesterday. He's just a worker; he couldn't do much."
"Ethan, huh? Well, that makes sense. I heard his family background is powerful and mysterious."
Ella didn't know much about Ethan's family background. In her previous life, she had no interaction with them. This time, the dance club members filled her in.
The Smith family was involved in politics, though the specifics were unclear; the Allen family owned one of the top three film industry groups; Nick's family had many commercial buildings; and the Murphy family was one of the top jewelry merchants in the country.
These people were all powerful. It was strange that in her previous life, Victoria had no connection with them, but now they were close.
By this time, Victoria was already seated in the VIP section. The performance hadn't started yet. And they had the best view, right in the center of the front row, where they could see every detail on stage.
Nick cheerfully commented, "This is the first time Aunt Diana gave me such good tickets. I owe it to Victoria." Harold used to say he couldn't appreciate this kind of art and would give him any ticket to get rid of him.
Mira was also enthusiastic, saying excitedly, "I never thought I'd get to sit here and watch Diana's performance. It's like a dream. Thank you so much, Victoria!"
Ethan sat next to Victoria without saying. When Victoria turned her head, her hair brushed past him, leaving a faint fragrance in the air.
Victoria noticed Roy wasn't there and asked curiously, "Where's Roy? Didn't he say he'd come to watch the performance today?"
Eric turned off his phone and chuckled, " When he gets here, don't ask him. He's in big trouble and is stressed out."
Nick shrugged indifferently, "What's the big deal? He got into a car accident on the way here and got delayed. He's almost late!"
Victoria, intrigued, pressed on, "So what's the story? Tell me!"
It turned out the Murphy family was in turmoil recently. Just a few days ago, a pair of siblings showed up, claiming to be the illegitimate children of Roy's father, Marc Murphy.
Marc had been quite the playboy in his younger days, and Roy's mother had made a fuss about it. Things had finally settled down, and there had been no incidents for the past decade. Roy, having grown up as an only child for twenty years, was now struggling to accept the sudden appearance of a brother and a sister.
Victoria's eyes widened in curiosity, "They kept it that well-hidden!"
Eric spoke with enthusiasm, "Yeah, and those siblings are coming to our school. They might even be in your class. You might see them next week."
Ethan suddenly chimed in, "Do you know Jessica Shaw?"
Mira tapped her head, "Is she the beauty from Riverdale who played the lead in Shadows in the Mist? She retired at the height of her career, and many people were disappointed. So she secretly had kids?"
They were deep in their hushed conversation when Roy arrived. Nick quickly nudged Mira's leg, signaling her to look up.
Seeing Roy's stern expression, Mira quickly covered her mouth and stopped talking.
Eric patted Roy's shoulder with a smirk, "This will be public knowledge in a few days. So why stress about it?"
Nick couldn't hold back his laughter, "Yeah, in families like ours, this is usual. Don't worry, we'll all help you!"
Ethan looked Roy in the eye and nodded.
Roy smiled wryly, "You don't understand. Jessica and her kids are not easy to deal with."
Eric sneered, "And we're easy to deal with?"
"Alright, the show's starting. Let's enjoy it," Victoria said as the curtain rose, reminding everyone to stop chatting and focus on Diana's performance.
Ella and her group had just entered, sitting in the last row. They watched Victoria and her friends laughing and chatting up front, filled with anger.
Still, they each took plenty of photos to show off that they were at the premiere of "Voice of Magic," starring Diana herself.
Not every performance featured Diana, so even regular tickets were worth bragging about. They posted on social media, making many classmates envious.
The theater fell silent as the dancers took the stage one by one.
"Voice of Magic" was a group dance with a mix of singing and dancing, lasting an hour. The set was stunning, and every dancer was highly skilled, providing the audience with a visual feast.
They were all in awe, especially of Diana's performance. She danced like a fairy, not only with top-notch skills but also with an emotional depth that moved every viewer, leaving them mesmerized.
When the dance ended, everyone was so absorbed in the performance that it took a while for them to remember to applaud. Then the theater erupted in applause.
Mira gazed at Diana, who was taking her bow, with admiration, "Oh my God, she's almost fifty and still so beautiful. She can still perform such difficult dance moves perfectly."
Victoria also looked at the radiant Diana on stage, clapping vigorously. 'With so many people loving her performance, Mom must be very happy at this moment.'
As they followed the crowd out, Mira was still marveling, "If only I could perform on a stage like this one day!"
Moonshadow Hall hosted not only dance performances but also plays. For students in their performing arts program, performing at Moonshadow Hall was the highest recognition of their skills.
Victoria encouraged her, "Keep it up. If you become one of the top graduates in our class, getting into Moonshadow Hall won't be hard."
Mira nodded vigorously, though she knew that even if she were highly skilled, without connections, getting into Moonshadow Hall would be impossible. But she didn't share this worry with Victoria.
What she didn't know was that Victoria was her connection. As long as she had the talent, Victoria wasn't going to let anyone take her spot away.
