The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 78: Rehearsal Accidents
The next day, the Snooker Club members arrived backstage to find their props completely trashed.
Mira looked at the once neatly arranged props, now reduced to a pile of garbage, and tears welled up in her eyes. "We can't use any of this! What are we gonna do? The show is tonight, where can we find new props now?"
Someone, unable to contain their anger, growled, "If I find out who did this, they're gonna pay!"
Victoria walked in with the costumes, her voice icy as she surveyed the chaos. "Who would want to sabotage our performance the most?"
"It has to be those people from the dance club! Damn it, I can't believe they'd stoop so low! I'm going to the student council to demand an explanation!"
Though they had no evidence, there were security cameras backstage that might provide some clues. They immediately sent someone to find the student council president. The others stayed behind to clean up.
Victoria suddenly noticed a small, reflective pink object on the ground. She picked it up. It was a pink diamond hair clip, and it looked familiar. She tried to recall where she had seen it before.
Mira walked over and saw the clip in Victoria's hand. "Isn't that the pink diamond clip Ella was showing off the other day? She bragged about it in class, saying it was a limited edition real diamond clip worth twenty thousand dollars."
Victoria frowned, thinking, 'Ella wouldn't have the strength to smash everything herself, and losing such an expensive clip doesn't seem like her style.' She shook her head and whispered, "Let's wait and see."
Mira nodded, nervously asking, "With the props destroyed, what are you going to do for the performance tonight? It won't be the same without them."
Victoria didn't respond, deep in thought about how to solve the problem. Finding the culprit wouldn't help now; the priority was ensuring the show went on smoothly.
Soon, Eric heard about the destroyed props and arrived backstage with Ethan.
Eric made a call, requesting a batch of Sword Dance-style stage props from a film company as quickly as possible.
After getting confirmation, he reassured Victoria, "Victoria, go get your makeup and costume ready. We'll handle the props. Don't worry."
They all knew Victoria had been tirelessly practicing her dance in her spare time, not joining them in any fun activities.
Victoria nodded solemnly and reminded them, "Check everything else too, especially the lift. If it malfunctions, the school doesn't have a replacement."
Eric replied, "Got it."
Victoria went to get her makeup done by a professional artist, determined to look her best on stage.
Meanwhile, the Snooker Club members scrambled to find suitable props and check the equipment.
Even Roy, who had been sulking at home, sent over a batch of high-end props, saying they could use whatever fit.
"Eric, the lift is broken too!" a boy rushed over, panicked. "I just turned it on, and it started smoking!"
Eric went to check and quickly discovered that the power supply had been doused with water, rendering it useless.
He called his company again, but the person in charge told him the nearest warehouse didn't have a lift. They'd have to get one from the film base outside Sunhaven. Even if they sent it to Nexus College now, the four-hour drive, plus traffic, meant it might not arrive until midnight.
Eric frowned, debating whether to tell Victoria. Could they replace the dramatic lift entrance with another move? It wouldn't be as impressive, but they had no choice.
Ethan saw his worried expression and asked, "What's wrong?"
Eric explained, "The new lift is too far away. It might not get here in time."
Ethan checked the location on his map. "I have a helicopter nearby. I'll have it pick up the lift. The school field can handle a landing, just need to notify them."
The Snooker Club members anxiously awaited the new props, with only three hours until the show. They were determined not to give up.
Meanwhile, in the Dance Club's dressing room, everyone was in costume, waiting their turn with the makeup artist.
Someone burst in, excitedly announcing, "Good news! The Snooker Club's stage props are all ruined! Their performance is doomed!"
"Serves them right for going against us!"
"Yeah, with only three hours left, they can't possibly fix it. They might as well give up!"
Ella was pleased that Walter had understood her hint. Using admirers wisely could get a lot done.
Lily, with her personal makeup artist, remained still and calm. "I actually hope she performs, so no one can say I won unfairly. If something goes wrong, they might accuse me of sabotage."
She paused her makeup, looking around. "None of you did this behind my back, right?"
Everyone shook their heads. "Absolutely not! We believe we can beat her fair and square. No need for this!"
They weren't lying, as Walter, who had destroyed the props, wasn't in their dressing room.
Satisfied, Lily continued her makeup. She wanted to win on her own merits, without resorting to underhanded tactics.
The Snooker Club's emergency props arrived, and they began frantically setting up. Victoria emerged from the makeup room in her dance costume, fully made up.
"Wow, you're stunning!" Everyone who saw Victoria couldn't help but gasp.
Normally, she wore no makeup and dressed simply, already beautiful, but with her stage makeup, her beauty was striking and almost intimidating, exuding an untouchable elegance.
With only an hour left until the show, Roy arrived. He immediately noticed the real diamonds on Victoria's dress and praised, "Those are real diamonds. The props we had before wouldn't do it justice. Use this."
He handed her a Whip Sword encrusted with diamonds, its handle and blade intricately designed and sparkling.
Mira was shocked. "Oh my God, is this real?"
Roy shrugged.
Victoria carefully took the sword, admiring it, clearly reluctant to let it go.
Meanwhile, on the Nexus College field, students were cleared away as a helicopter descended.
Everyone speculated about the VIP arrival, only to see two pilots emerge from the helicopter, wheeling a large wooden crate toward the backstage area of the event.
The audience was massive, filling the Nexus College stadium, which could hold ten thousand people.
