The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 89: Birthday Gift
Azalea adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and looked at Victoria. "Victoria, care to explain?"
"Natalia says she accidentally tripped my friend," Victoria said calmly, pointing to Mira who was sitting nearby.
"So, I decided to let her and her friend see what it's like to 'accidentally' get bumped by my hand. Didn't think they'd both fall; maybe they're just not used to wearing high heels."
Victoria's words mirrored what Ella and Lila had said earlier, now she was giving it right back to them.
Azalea, a teacher with years of experience, saw through the girls' antics immediately.
She cleared her throat and said, "Both sides are at fault here. If you need to go to the nurse's office, go. And you can cover each other's medical expenses. Next time, don't cause trouble in my class, or I'll deduct points from everyone!"
Natalia and Lila were unhappy, but seeing that Ella had no intention of standing up for them, they had no choice but to accept.
Lila got up, cursing under her breath, holding her swollen face, and shot Victoria a hateful glare.
Victoria didn't even look at them as she helped Mira to the nurse's office.
Fortunately, the injuries were minor, just some scrapes, and the pain eased significantly after the nurse applied some ointment.
"Thank you," Mira said sincerely to Victoria. "Ella used to bully you, and you never fought back. But today, you stood up for me."
It was the first time someone had defended her like this, and Mira felt a warm glow inside.
Victoria patted her head. "No need to thank me. We're friends, right?"
Mira grinned and hugged Victoria. "You're my best friend."
When Victoria got home, she remembered that Mira's birthday was coming up.
She had seen it when filling out some forms. She decided to get Mira a birthday present and asked her mom, Diana, for advice.
Diana handed her a cup of hot milk and reminded her, "Drinking more milk is good for your health. When it comes to gifts for friends, the most important thing is that they like it or need it."
Victoria's eyes lit up. "I know! Thanks, Mom!" She recalled Mira's awkwardness earlier and decided to get her a pair of beautiful high heels.
To avoid making Mira feel uncomfortable, she chose a limited edition pair with a subtle logo, popular among the wealthy abroad but not widely recognized.
The shoes were stunning, like Cinderella's glass slippers, sparkling and adorable.
Plus, the heels were only two inches high, and as a top brand, Christian's design was more comfortable at the same height. She hoped Mira could wear these beautiful new shoes to class next time.
To ensure the shoes arrived before Mira's birthday, Victoria used Diana's VIP status to have the designer customize them, engraving Mira's initials on the soles, making it a unique gift.
On Mira's birthday, she invited Victoria out for a meal, not mentioning it was her birthday to avoid Victoria feeling obligated to bring a gift.
They went to a small but cozy restaurant near the school. Mira had reserved a private room, and since it was a weekday, the place wasn't crowded.
She ordered a more lavish meal than usual. When the food arrived, Mira went to the restroom, and Victoria quickly had the driver bring in the gift, hiding it behind a chair.
When Mira returned, she didn't notice Victoria's little maneuver. Shyly, she said, "Actually, today is my birthday. I don't have many friends, so I just wanted to celebrate with you."
Victoria suddenly pulled out a large gift box from behind her. "Surprise! Happy Birthday!"
Mira's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at the beautifully wrapped box. "How did you know it was my birthday? And you even got me a gift?"
Victoria tilted her head. "I saw it when you filled out the form last time. Open it and see if you like it. I spent a lot of time picking it out."
Mira carefully unwrapped the box, not even wanting to tear the ribbon.
When she saw the dazzling high heels, she gasped. "They're so beautiful!"
She looked at Victoria with tears of joy in her eyes. "Victoria, you're so good to me. You always give me the best gifts."
Victoria shrugged, her tone light. "You're good to me too. This is just a little something between friends."
Mira put down the box and hugged Victoria tightly, her eyes blinking away the warmth. "Victoria, you're my best friend. This is my first pair of high heels, and they're so beautiful!"
At the next etiquette class, Victoria was called away by Azalea, so Mira arrived at the classroom first. She brought her new shoes and was about to change into them.
As she touched the beautiful shoes, she felt a bit reluctant, afraid of getting them dirty or even ruining them. Such pretty high heels should be displayed in a showcase, like a piece of art.
Mira knew the shoes must be expensive, but she couldn't find the brand online.
Just then, the lounge door opened, and Ella and Jasmine walked in, followed by Natalia and Lila.
Ella turned and said happily, "My mom got me the latest Christian shoes. I had the maid bring them over, and I'll wear them for you guys later. Now Jasmine and I can wear the same brand and look even more like sisters."
Jasmine said, "Ella, your mom really loves you. I wanted to buy the new ones too, but I couldn't get them even with a personal shopper. My mom's been too busy to help me order them."
Mira felt a wave of nausea seeing them and suddenly wanted to go to the restroom. She closed the shoe box and stuffed it into the locker.
Ella heard the noise and looked over, her eyes widening in surprise. "That's odd?"
