Willie looked frustrated. He had rushed over as soon as he got the call, feeling like it was just another waste of time dealing with upper management.

But as the lowest-ranking officer, he had no choice but to accept Ethan's reprimands. After all, his superiors had also instructed him to keep Ethan calm.

So, Willie could only smile and bow apologetically to Ethan. "Our efficiency wasn't up to par, and I hope you can understand. But our stance is firm—we absolutely won't let you or your friends be wronged!"

Zachary, seeing Willie's particularly respectful attitude towards Ethan, felt a surge of injustice.

He struggled and shouted, "Uncle Willie, I'm the one with a gun pointed at me! You should arrest all of them! Especially that woman—she's the one who hit me. You can't let her off!"

Willie wanted to say a few more words to appease Ethan, but he was interrupted.

He shot Zachary a fierce glare, took a big step forward, and slapped him hard across the face. "You idiot, can't you see? These are people you can't mess with!"

A red mark quickly appeared on Zachary's face, swelling up immediately. It was clear Willie hadn't held back.

Tears welled up in Zachary's eyes as he clutched his face, unable to speak through his trembling lips.

But Willie ignored him completely and turned to Samuel with a smile. "Sir, could you let him go? While it's clear Zachary is at fault, I believe his mistakes don't warrant death. We can sit down and talk this out. Compensation and apologies—name your terms."

Samuel gave him a half-smile, then released Zachary, pushing him away. He was tired from holding him for so long.

Samuel had made a call on the way over and was assured that the authorities would intervene soon, which gave him confidence.

Victoria, finally relaxing her grip on the gun, said to Willie, "Earlier, we had guns pointed at us, demanding we apologize. They even threatened to break my legs if I didn't comply."

Willie understood that she needed a sincere apology to be appeased. He kicked Zachary in the knee. "Apologize to the lady!"

Zachary, already unsteady, fell to the ground, looking utterly pathetic.

He glanced back at Willie in shock—this was his own uncle, yet he was siding with outsiders against him.

Not long ago, he had arrogantly demanded an apology from Victoria, and now he was the one being forced to apologize. Life truly was ironic.

Seeing Zachary's defiant expression and his reluctance to apologize, Willie grew impatient and smacked him on the head.

"You idiot, apologize! If she's not satisfied, you won't get up. I'll beat you to death myself."

Finally realizing the situation, Zachary, seeing his uncle Willie taking such a stance, reluctantly apologized to Victoria.

Victoria coldly responded, "He's not sincere." This was her way of rejecting the apology.

Willie couldn't take it anymore. He scolded Zachary thoroughly, forcing him to tearfully admit his wrongdoings and beg for Victoria's forgiveness. He cried so hard that snot ran down his face.

Victoria, annoyed, finally nodded. "Fine, but he also needs to apologize to Ruth."

Under Willie's stern gaze, Zachary turned to Ruth. "Ruth, today was my fault. I promise I won't bother you again! And I'll compensate you double for any damages to your store!"

Ruth, seeing Zachary's change in attitude, felt a sense of satisfaction.

She snorted and asked, "You won't apologize today and then come back to harass me tomorrow once they're gone, will you? I don't have any backing."

Willie quickly assured her, "Don't worry. When I say something, I mean it. I'll make sure to keep this guy in line."

Zachary nodded vigorously. Today's encounter with Victoria and her friends had taught him a harsh lesson. He wouldn't dare cause trouble for a long time.

Who would have thought that a random foreign woman he met on the street would have such powerful connections that even his police chief uncle would grovel?

Ruth calculated the day's losses, roughly estimating them at around ten thousand dollars.

She used the highest figures, knowing the Johnson family had plenty of money and wouldn't mind paying a bit extra.

Willie immediately transferred thirty thousand dollars to her, saying the extra was for her emotional distress.

Ruth couldn't help but laugh when she saw the money in her account. She looked at Victoria with gratitude.

Meeting Victoria today had been a stroke of luck. Without her, Zachary would have surely bullied her.

Seeing that the situation was mostly resolved, Nick called out, "Samuel, I'm starving. Let's go get something to eat."

Willie visibly flinched at this and turned to Samuel. "Are you Mr. Samuel Hamilton?"

He should have realized it sooner. This group had an air about them that matched the descriptions his father-in-law had given.

It turned out Willie was the son-in-law of Joe, the elderly man Samuel had saved on the ship a few days ago!

Joe's daughter had married Willie, and having been separated from her parents for many years, Willie was very protective of her and respectful towards her father.

Samuel nodded, looking puzzled. Did this man know his name?

Willie quickly extended both hands, shaking Samuel's hand with genuine sincerity.

"The elderly man you saved a few days ago, Joe, is my father-in-law. I've been wanting to thank you!"

He had inquired about Samuel on the ship, but Samuel had declined to meet. Samuel wasn't the type to seek gratitude for his good deeds.
