The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 50: I Want the Full Package
Over the weekend, to celebrate joining the Snooker club, Mira invited Victoria to go shopping.
Victoria brought along Flora, her little leopard, who had been stuck at home all week and was itching to get out.
In the back seat, Flora was all fidgety, pressing its nose against the window and scratching to get out.
Victoria didn't crack the window open, instead, she tapped Flora's wet nose and scolded, "Flora, if you keep this up, you're staying home next time. It's dangerous out there!"
Flora didn't seem to get it but stopped fidgeting. Instead, Flora started licking Victoria's fingers, making her laugh because it tickled.
Once they got out of the car, Victoria waved the driver off for a break.
Mira texted that she was about ten minutes away, stuck in traffic coming from Nexus College.
Victoria went ahead and ordered some cold drinks, grabbed a booth, and started playing with Flora, checking her phone now and then.
Sunlight streamed through the window, casting beautiful patterns on the floor.
Victoria, in her casual short-sleeve shirt, looked fresh and radiant, her delicate features highlighted as she played with Flora, her long fingers moving gracefully.
It was hard to tell what breed Flora was, but its elegant physique and lush fur could rival any internet-famous cat.
A passing freelance photographer, Calista Day, couldn't resist and snapped a perfect picture of the scene.
Mira came running over, thrilled to see Flora, "Victoria, you brought your pet? It's adorable! Can I pet it?"
Victoria nodded, "Sure, just be gentle."
Mira nodded eagerly and gently touched Flora, who reached out a paw, making Mira pull back quickly.
"It seems a bit shy. I'll just admire it from here," Mira said, watching Victoria pet Flora enviously.
Their coffee arrived.
Just then, Calista walked over to their table.
She explained that the scene was so beautiful she couldn't resist taking a picture and asked Victoria if she could keep it.
Victoria, seeing Calista's elegant demeanor and clear eyes, thought for a moment and agreed.
They exchanged WhatsApp contacts so Calista could send the photo once she had it downloaded.
Calista left, eager to process the photo.
Mira sighed, "Victoria, you really have a way of charming everyone, no matter who they are!"
Victoria smiled helplessly.
They finished their coffee and went shopping.
Mira was on the hunt for a necklace. She didn't have any fine jewelry and hoped to find an affordable luxury necklace within a few hundred dollars.
They browsed through women's clothing, shoe, and handbag stores along the way.
After a while, Mira still hadn't found anything she liked.
They walked into a trendy jewelry store, and Mira said, "I heard this place is perfect for young girls like us, with delicate designs and good prices."
Victoria sipped her coffee and nodded. She didn't mind; she was ready to buy Mira anything she wanted, as money wasn't an issue.
But Mira insisted on paying for it herself.
As they chatted, they didn't notice Ella at the counter, surrounded by three eager salespeople.
Still fuming from the embarrassment at Smokestack Grill & Barbecue yesterday, Ella had called Natalia and Lila to go shopping with her to blow off some steam.
They had bought a ton of stuff, and the salespeople were practically bouncing with excitement.
Natalia was the first to spot Victoria, "Well, look who it is. Why are broke people shopping here and not buying anything?"
Mira felt a bit awkward; her budget was pretty tight.
"So what? Don't you guys take your time picking stuff out?" Mira shot back weakly, trying to pull Victoria away.
But Ella wasn't having it, "Leaving already? How can Victoria afford to live at Lavender Fields Manor but not buy anything?"
Lila chimed in, "Yeah, just window shopping. I feel bad for the salespeople."
The young salesperson who had greeted Victoria looked a bit embarrassed, caught in the middle.
Mira said, "I'm the one buying stuff, so it has nothing to do with Victoria!"
Lila smirked, "So you follow Victoria around every day, and she doesn't give you any perks? Unlike Ella, who bought us lots of gifts. Mira, you should pick your friends better. Victoria's poor and stingy. I don't get what you see in her!"
Mira was too mad to speak.
Earlier, when she found things too pricey, Victoria had offered to use her card, but Mira had refused because friends should be equals.
Unexpectedly, it was seen as Victoria's fault in their eyes.
Victoria didn't want to argue and pulled Mira to the counter, "Which set do you like? I'll buy it for you."
Mira only wanted a necklace, but Victoria was ready to buy the whole set.
The salesperson's eyes lit up and she approached, "Miss, take a look at this set; it's our new Stardust Dance Collection."
Mira saw the price tag, over fifty thousand dollars for a necklace, with a huge ruby in the middle!
With the bracelet, earrings, hairpin, and brooch included, the whole set would be nearly two hundred thousand dollars!
Mira quickly shook her head, pulling Victoria's sleeve, "Victoria, forget it."
She knew Victoria's family was wealthy, but Victoria wasn't extravagant. Giving her a gift worth two hundred thousand dollars might get her in trouble with her parents. She couldn't take advantage of this!
Victoria said calmly, "But I have money. I just want to know if you like it."
Mira nodded, "But..."
The set was indeed beautiful and exactly Mira's style, so she subconsciously nodded.
Victoria could see her interest and without hesitation, handed a Centurion Card to the salesperson, "Charge it."
The salesperson, unable to control her expression, took the Centurion Card to process the payment. It seemed to be one of those globally limited edition supreme Centurion Cards!
Ella was stunned when she saw Victoria nonchalantly pull out it. "How could she have a Centurion Card? It must be fake!"
Natalia chimed in, "Yeah, it definitely won't go through!"
"Payment successful."
With the sound of the card machine, Ella's nails dug into her palm, and the hollow earrings in her hand were crushed out of shape.
The salesperson quickly reminded, "Miss, please let go, you've deformed the earrings and will need to pay for them."
Seeing how unexpectedly wealthy Victoria was, a relaxed smile appeared on Mira's face.
Adopting Lila's sardonic tone, she said, "Victoria bought me a whole set. Ella, are you only planning to give them one piece, and a deformed one at that? How ridiculous!"
