Ella was about to agree when Mira's excited voice rang out, "Victoria, you already caught a fish! That's awesome!"

Everyone turned to look at Victoria, who was reeling in her line. At the end of her fishing rod dangled a small 4-inch fish, its silver tail flapping desperately.

Victoria carefully unhooked it and tossed it into a bucket, causing a splash.

Victoria put the lid on the bucket and finally looked up, saying, "I was just lucky. Be patient; you'll catch fish soon too."

Mira and Elise nodded enthusiastically. "Right! Looks like we still have a chance to win. They have so many people, but you caught the first fish. Guess having more people doesn't help with fishing."

Ella watched the little fish struggle and secretly hoped it would escape. When Victoria finally dropped it into the bucket, she reluctantly looked away, frowning at her own unmoving float.

It was so frustrating. Same river, same bait, why were the fish biting Victoria's hook?

What she didn't know was that Victoria had brought special bait and learned how to attract fish.

Jasmine scoffed and turned to Ella, "That tiny fish wouldn't even be a snack for my cat. Why are they so excited? They've clearly never seen anything impressive. We're here to catch big fish, right, Ella?"

"Yeah," Ella replied absentmindedly, feeling anxious.

Why hadn't she caught anything yet? With so many people from the dance club, not a single fish had been caught. Was something wrong?

Half an hour into fishing, neither Ella nor Jasmine had any bites. Out of the thirty people in the dance club, only two fish had been caught.

Actually, there should have been three, but one girl was too scared to handle the fish, and it jumped back into the river.

As Mira let out another excited shout, reeling in a decent-sized fish, Ella's delicate eyebrows furrowed.

"Maybe we picked a bad spot? We've got so many people and no fish, but two out of three of them have caught something."

Jasmine, who had been bored and playing on her phone, suddenly looked serious.

She thought for a moment and said, "That is strange. If their spot is good, we should just move over there." Jasmine stood up, ready to move.

Ella gasped, covering her mouth and grabbing Jasmine's sleeve. "Jasmine, that's not what I meant. We can't just take Victoria's spot. She won't want to share, and she'll get mad."

Jasmine shook off Ella's hand, rolling her eyes. "Ella, you're too soft. This river doesn't belong to Victoria. We can fish wherever we want, we don't need her permission."

She stood up, smiling confidently, and called out to the dance club members, "Girls, if you haven't caught anything, let's move to a new spot. Sometimes it's not about your skills, just the location."

Many people were already unhappy because they hadn't caught anything yet. When Jasmine called out, everyone responded enthusiastically.

"I knew it! It's been half an hour, and the rod hasn't moved at all."

"Every time I reel it in, there's no fish. I thought I was just unlucky. Turns out it's the spot that's the problem."

"Jasmine, you really know your stuff! Do you know where the fish are biting?"

Jasmine smiled smugly and nodded towards Victoria's spot. "Over there, fewer people, more fish."

A group of them moved over, with Ella hiding behind Jasmine, trying to conceal her smile.

Mira, closing her small bucket, looked up to see the crowd approaching. "Why are you all coming over here instead of fishing?"

Jasmine raised her chin and smiled. "We're here to fish better."

Mira snapped, "That's so shameless! This is our spot! You can't catch fish, so you want to steal our place."

Vivian stepped forward, shouting, "How is this your spot? This river is public. We can fish wherever we want! There's no name written here."

Victoria, watching her float bob, seemed to have a bite. She needed to wait for the fish to take the bait fully and didn't want to argue.

She whispered to Mira, "Don't argue, you'll scare my fish away."

Elise stood up, joining Mira in blocking the dance club members, glaring at them. The tension was palpable.

Ella, watching Victoria closely, saw her line twitch again and rushed forward, shouting, "Victoria, we're not trying to steal your spot. But you can't be so selfish. We're all here to fish, it should be fair."

Mira blocked her, hissing, "Why are you shouting? You'll scare our fish away."

"Why do you think the worst of me? I just don't want Victoria to misunderstand," Ella said, looking hurt.

Victoria's fish, startled by the commotion, tried to escape. She quickly yanked her line, the fish swinging towards them. "Move!" she shouted.

Mira and Elise stepped aside, but Ella, losing her balance as Mira let go, stumbled forward.

The fish slapped her face with a loud smack, leaving a red mark. Victoria grabbed the fish and steadied Ella, preventing her from falling.

She then deftly unhooked the fish and dropped it into the bucket.

Ella, holding her stinging, fishy-smelling face, burst into tears. "Victoria, I was trying to talk, why did you hit me?"

The dance club members gathered around, comforting her.

Jasmine glared at Victoria, shouting, "How could you be so cruel? Hitting Ella just like that! You have no manners!"

Victoria, expressionless, replied coldly, "Are you blind? Which hand did I use to hit her? Fishing requires caution. If you want to blame someone, blame yourselves for standing so close."

The student council, organizing the event, noticed the commotion. Dennis came over to mediate.
