The Inescapable Celibate Heir Chapter 63: Trash Talk
The league switched to a best-of-five format, and Victoria wasted no time, winning three games straight and crushing her opponent.
Even though her opponent was just average, Victoria's wins were so dominant that anyone could see she had some serious skills.
"Man, this girl from Nexus College is rock solid! It's like the ball's on a string."
"Is she new? She could've taken the championship last season, no doubt."
Sophie was watching too, and the more she saw, the more serious she got. When Victoria nailed a tough curveball, Sophie bit her lip, "That was something else."
Sophie could throw a curveball too, but her success rate was only fifty-fifty. Victoria, on the other hand, made it look easy, whether it was or not.
Ella, who had been keeping a close eye on Victoria's matches, was puzzled. 'What's going on? How come she hasn't been pricked yet?' she thought.
She muttered, "No way."
A club member nearby heard her and got excited, "Yeah, that ball was insane; only Victoria could pull that off! She's incredible!"
Ella realized she had spoken out loud and quickly smiled, "Then we're definitely winning this round!"
"Yeah, last year we lost by one point in the girls' group. With Victoria this year, we're sure to win!"
Ella lowered her head, full of disdain. 'Win? It's just luck she hasn't been pricked yet. There's no way she won't get pricked after a whole day. I bet this bitch's hand will be useless after a few more matches!' she thought.
But Victoria kept winning match after match without any issues.
Ella was baffled. She was sure Victoria was wearing the wristband she had rigged, so why was there no problem?
Could it be that the wristband with the needles ended up with the wrong person?
But no one else seemed to be in pain. As the morning went on without a hitch, Ella started to doubt herself.
Mira also won several matches in a row, securing a spot for Nexus College's girls' team.
During a break, Victoria went to get some water and ended up standing in front of Ella.
Seeing her relaxed expression, Ella couldn't help but ask, "Victoria, don't you feel uncomfortable at all?"
Victoria unscrewed the bottle cap, took a slow sip of water, and glanced at her disdainfully, "You must be really disappointed. Not only am I fine, but I also won several matches."
Ella's nails dug into her palm as she forced a smile, "Why would I be? We're in the same club, Victoria. I'm happy when you win."
"Does logistics really count as part of the snooker club?" Victoria shrugged. "Well, okay then."
Ella gritted her teeth. She had seen what happened to the dance club members who insulted Victoria, so she held back.
She said, "Victoria, why do you have to be so harsh? The logistics team is here to help you."
"Convenient for your schemes, right?" Victoria said indifferently.
Ella's expression changed.
Did Victoria find out? But where did she get the same wristband? The one Ella prepared for her had dozens of needles. She couldn't have had time to clean it out!
Ella's gaze fell on Victoria's wrist. She was indeed wearing the custom wristband, not available on the market.
She added, "Victoria, what are you talking about? I'm here to help everyone!"
Victoria smirked, "Can you come up with better tactics? These low-level tricks are getting old."
With that, she turned and walked away.
Ella watched her victorious back, angrily crushing a water bottle.
A senior student who had just returned from the restroom saw this and asked in surprise, "Ella, didn't you say you couldn't open the bottle cap? How come..."
Ella then noticed the crushed bottle in her hand and quickly threw it away in panic, "It wasn't me. I don't know what just happened."
The senior student pouted, thinking, 'Pretty girls can lie.'
Sophie and Willow also advanced smoothly, and Victoria watched their matches closely, knowing they were her real competition.
Victoria sat in the rest area, replying to messages.
Everyone was curious about her progress. She told her family and friends that she had reached the semifinals.
As she kept typing, a shadow suddenly appeared on her phone screen.
Looking up, she saw two short-haired beauties who looked identical, Willow and Sophie.
Sophie, annoyed with Francis's excessive attention to Victoria, came over to warn her.
She stood tall, looking down at Victoria arrogantly, "Victoria, right? Stay away from our Francis! Don't think you're hot stuff just because you won a few matches. I'm your real opponent!"
Victoria put away her phone and slowly stood up, "Are you Willow or Sophie? Sorry, I can't quite tell."
"I'm Sophie!" Sophie's momentum faltered and thought, 'What's with this Victoria? I'm here to warn her, and she's asking questions, so politely too!'
Victoria suddenly smiled, "Sophie, your ring is so pretty! Is it the new badge commemorative edition from GymGenius? That's impressive!"
GymGenius was a popular app among young people. This badge ring required a hundred days of continuous exercise check-ins. Though not expensive, it held significant meaning!
Victoria had missed out on the ring due to family matters, and she was feeling down about it!
Sophie was even more confused and thought, 'Not only is she not afraid of me, but she's also complimenting me. How adorable!'
Though Sophie was domineering, she would become gentle if someone genuinely praised her.
She blinked quickly, her cheeks flushing, and touched her ring, "Oh, thanks! It's easy to stick to. Haven't you got it yet?"
Victoria nodded, "Can I take a look? I really want one too."
Sophie shyly extended her hand, "Sure. Once I get tired of it, I could let you borrow it for a while."
"No need, it's meaningless if it's not earned by myself." Victoria admired it for a while and then smiled, "I'll get mine in thirty more days."
The two chatted and laughed.
Willow was very annoyed and rudely slapped Sophie's head, "What are you laughing at! We're rivals!"
Sophie held her head, looking at Willow with grievance.
Under Willow's stern gaze, Sophie finally remembered she was supposed to be taunting.
Sophie pretended to be calm as she spoke, "Victoria, don't think that complimenting me will get you off the hook. I won't hold back in tomorrow's match!"
Victoria replied, "Okay, I won't either."
Sophie raised her voice and became fiercer, "I will definitely defeat you!"
Victoria looked helpless, "Alright, I'll be waiting."
Dennis had seen them approaching together and, worried they might harm Victoria, quickly walked over. "What are you doing here?" he demanded.
Willow glanced at him, "So concerned?"
Dennis frowned at her.
Sophie left a parting shot, "Don't worry, we'll beat her in the game!"
The two turned and left.
Others gathered around, concerned about Victoria.
Victoria shrugged it off with a nonchalant smile, "Nothing serious, they were just talking trash."
Dennis reminded her, "Brightlight University students have bad tempers. Don't be alone with them."
Mira added, "Yeah, Brightlight University students often get into group fights. We behave in a polite manner. Victoria, I'll even go to the restroom with you from now on."
Victoria smiled helplessly, "No need to be so tense. That Sophie is quite cute."
"Cute?"
Everyone thought Victoria's standards were a bit off.
Sophie and Willow were the female leaders at Brightlight University. No girl dared to confront them directly. It was said they could each take on ten people!
