Lawrence sneered. "Can't you guess? I'm taking all of you down with me."

My face went pale.

Someone like Lawrence, who had endured the most humiliating experiences in his childhood and clawed his way to his current position by any means necessary, had his reputation destroyed by me. How could he possibly accept becoming a fugitive, wanted nationwide?

So, all that talk about going abroad with Stella was just a ruse to deceive her.

A chill ran through me, and I instinctively wanted to step back, but I dared not move recklessly.

I tried to reason with Lawrence, "Lawrence, you still have time. You managed to escape with great difficulty. You should run while you can. Why waste time on us?"

"Don't listen to her, Lawrence. Don't you hate Melinda? Kill her now. Make her feel the torment," Clara interjected.

Despite her own dire situation, Clara still urged Lawrence to torture me.

As he spoke, he moved closer to Clara.

When I asked, his expression changed, and his tone carried an emotion I couldn't decipher. "Think what you want."

I didn't understand. But Lawrence didn't seem to care if I did.

He leaned in close to Clara, whispering something in her ear. When he finished, he smirked, "Did you hear who it was?"

Clara's reaction was strange.

It was as if she recognized the person, and she was both shocked and disbelieving. "No, it can't be him. You're just trying to provoke me, right?"

She then looked at me with resentment.

"Why? How could she be so lucky? It's impossible!" Clara muttered, as if deeply shaken.

Lawrence kept pushing her buttons. "And that's not all! If I told you he always had a thing for her, but I got to her first, could you handle that?"

Clara's eyes blazed with fury as she glared at me. "No way, you bitch. How could someone like you be liked by him? You should be groveling for the rest of your life!"

Lawrence, having sufficiently provoked Clara, now turned his attention to me.

I was still trying to figure out who the man from that night was.

From their conversation, it was someone who knew both me and Lawrence, and had a significant status. Who could it be?

Suddenly, a thought flashed through my mind. I tried to grasp it, but it was too late.

Lawrence's knife was already at my face, the cold blade tapping my cheek. "Still curious about who it was?"

"If I ask, will you tell me? But even if you don't, I can piece it together from your conversation."

"Too bad you won't get the chance! Even if you figure it out, it doesn't matter. You're all going to die with me!" Lawrence stabbed me several times.

"Lawrence, you'll get what's coming to you. Treating me like this, your end will be worse than mine." I grimaced in pain, but I was slowly regaining control of my body.

Lawrence turned his attention to Stella, who grabbed his wrist. "Mr. Phillips, what do you mean by 'all going to die'? Aren't we going abroad? You promised to take me with you."

"Shut up, you fool. Can't you see the situation? How can I leave Starlight City? If I could go abroad, would I need your help to leave the hospital?" Lawrence shoved Stella aside, mocking her.

"No, it can't be. You promised to take me abroad. I don't believe you can't. You're so capable. If I don't go abroad, what will I do? My brother is already implicated because of me. I won't have a good life. You have to take me abroad. You're just trying to provoke Melinda, right?"

Stella fell to the ground with a thud but quickly got up and clung to Lawrence's wrist. "Tell me you were lying. The promise to take me abroad was real, right, Mr. Phillips?"
