I quickly reached out and covered Paula's mouth.

Paula made a muffled sound, and people at the neighboring table were already looking our way.

To avoid drawing attention from Marlowe's table, Paula stopped talking, pointed to her mouth, and shook her head.

She was signaling that she wouldn't say anything more, so I let go of her mouth.

I said, "You can't just say things like that, especially when there's someone Christopher might have unrequited feelings for. What if it gets back to the wrong person?"

"Christopher saved my life and has helped me a lot. I can't repay his kindness with betrayal and make the person he likes misunderstand him. I admire him, sure, but it's just admiration. I've never thought about dating him."

Then I explained to Paula what I had been thinking about earlier.

Without giving me time to react, she suddenly got up and rushed towards Marlowe's table.

"Paula..." I couldn't stop her, so I quickly got up and followed.

Her sudden movement made the chair creak, drawing the attention of everyone around. So when Paula reached Jason, all eyes were on her.

When they saw what she did next, everyone gasped.

Paula stepped forward and started pulling at his shirt buttons, exposing his collarbone and chest, while shouting, "Compensation, right? Let's make it fair and even..."

I didn't know if Paula heard me or if she regained her senses. Her angry expression vanished in a second, and she even helped fix his shirt. "Sorry, I mistook you for someone else."
