When Christopher refused, his voice was deep and carried an authority that was impossible to ignore.

Maybe he didn't want too much attention on his personal life. Maybe he would talk to Marlowe privately about it.

I nodded, understanding. "Alright, I'll only arrange work-related interview questions for tomorrow."

Christopher glanced at me, his expression pausing for a moment before he continued, "Discussing some personal matters isn't entirely out of the question."

Was he messing with me? Or was I just a pawn in his plan? I ground my teeth in frustration. He was the one who said he didn't want to talk about personal issues, and now he was saying it was okay. Maybe he actually wanted Marlowe to ask about it but was slow to realize it until I reminded him.

"Ms. Grey will be very pleased," I said. She would be the first to interview Christopher and the first to ask him personal questions.

Christopher raised an eyebrow at me. "You care a lot about Marlowe? Don't like her?"

"Huh? No way! I don't have any interactions with her, so I can't say I like or dislike her. I only mentioned her because she's the one doing the interview."

There was no way I would admit to disliking her. If Christopher and Marlowe ended up together, I'd be in a tough spot. She was the one he liked, after all.

"Marlowe is an old friend of Jason's!"

I got it, not just an old friend, but the woman Christopher couldn't be with. His explanation sounded more like an excuse.

I nodded in agreement. "I figured. I saw Mr. Cook and Ms. Grey having lunch at a nearby restaurant. I heard Mr. Cook usually doesn't dine with clients, so they must be friends."

I mentally patted myself on the back for my clever response. Now Christopher wouldn't suspect I disliked Marlowe, right?

And today, Jason must have done something to upset Paula. He must have been really out of line. So I told Christopher about their lunch. Jason was Christopher's friend. He should know better than to have lunch alone with the woman Christopher liked. I wanted to see how Christopher would deal with him.

If Paula found out, she would be happy. I was her best friend, after all. She treated me well, so I should do the same for her. Thinking about it made me smile.

Christopher's voice was deep and penetrating, but his tone suddenly shifted. "That private restaurant? You like it?"

"Yes, the food is quite good." I was caught off guard by the sudden question. After a moment, I thought about the restaurant's food, which was indeed delicious. I couldn't help but swallow.

It seemed like Christopher's lips curved into a smile, but when I looked again, there was nothing. Maybe it was just my imagination.

But lately, I had had a lot of these illusions. Maybe it was because I had been to that private restaurant so often. The next day in the company cafeteria, I even tasted similar food. Maybe the cook learned the recipe and made it taste similar. But that was a story for another time.

I quickly drafted the interview questions according to Christopher's requirements and handed them to him for approval. After finishing everything, I left work.

The next day, around ten o'clock, Marlowe arrived at the company with a photographer. I didn't expect her to bring Quinlan along.

Marlowe didn't seem to like Quinlan, and I sensed some tension. Quinlan, being sensitive, noticed it too. To avoid any trouble, she only smiled and nodded at me when Marlowe wasn't looking.

But as soon as Marlowe spoke, Quinlan's smile vanished, and she quickly followed Marlowe to the meeting room. Today, she was here to help with the interview, taking notes.

The interview was set in the meeting room, which was spacious enough even with the photography equipment. Christopher wore a black shirt with a white suit jacket, looking more approachable than usual. Clearly, he was trying to impress someone he liked, even with his outfit.

Christopher didn't know how to pursue a woman, but his small gestures were well-executed. Of course, that was, if Marlowe noticed them.

Everything was ready, and we were about to start. I handed the prepared interview questions to Marlowe. "These are today's questions."

Marlowe quickly glanced at the paper but didn't take it immediately. Instead, she looked at Christopher. "Christopher…"

Christopher frowned slightly, interrupting her. "Ms. Grey, this is a company setting. Please address me as Mr. Collins."

Watching from the side, I couldn't help but feel nervous for Christopher. Addressing him that way during an interview was indeed inappropriate, but Christopher was facing someone he liked. He could have been a bit more gentle. This was too cold. Even if it wasn't Marlowe, any ordinary person would feel awkward and embarrassed.

If I didn't already dislike Marlowe, I might have volunteered to be Christopher's love coach. Even though I was a failure in love, I was still a woman. Women understood women best!

Marlowe, probably afraid of angering Christopher and ruining the interview, reluctantly took the paper from me. I wondered if Christopher realized that his actions today were pushing Marlowe further away, making his path to love even more difficult. He was too perfect in other areas, destined to face challenges in love.

There were eight questions in total. The first seven were about the company's development and future prospects, focusing on artificial intelligence. Marlowe might not be a great person, but she was professional. And Christopher was well-versed in these topics, making the interview smooth.
