Christopher nodded to Paula, "Don't worry, I got this!"

The way he said it, it almost sounded like a groom reassuring the bride's family at a wedding.

I realized my thoughts were wandering and felt my ears heat up.

But I had to admit, Christopher looked incredibly handsome in his tailored suit, making him appear even taller and more striking.

Just thinking about what happened between us that night made me instinctively lower my head, unable to meet his gaze.

Christopher gave me a deep look and finally said, "Let's go!"

He started walking ahead, and I followed with my head down.

Lost in my own thoughts, I didn't notice when Christopher suddenly stopped.

I instinctively covered my head.

Christopher's lips curved slightly, probably finding my reaction amusing.

But to maintain his stern and cool demeanor, he quickly straightened his expression and asked in a deep voice, "What's got you so distracted that you can't even watch where you're going?"

Hearing his question, I thought of Paula's safety.

Paula's safety was my top priority, so I set aside my reservations about him.

I mentioned the golf course incident.

Christopher immediately caught on, "The refund issue involves Paula's safety?"

It seemed he was aware of the golf course scandal where members' funds were embezzled. When Paula confronted them, someone recorded it and posted it online, causing quite a stir.

Just then, the elevator arrived. I thought for a moment, "Mr. Collins, let's discuss this at the office."

Christopher didn't respond, but he stepped into the elevator with me, indicating his willingness to help.

Once in the office, I told Christopher about Stefan.

"I'm worried Stefan might do something desperate. I need to stay with Paula until we have enough evidence to put him in jail. Only then will I feel at ease!"

I mentioned Paula's plan to lure Stefan, but I also expressed my concerns, "Paula can't be put in danger. I don't agree with the plan. We need to find another way."

I couldn't believe Stefan could be so clean that we couldn't find any evidence against him.

Christopher looked at me with deep eyes, "You don't need to worry about Paula. I can arrange everything. The best way to deal with someone like Stefan is to strike decisively. Let Paula lure him in; it's the best plan!"

I frowned. I still wasn't comfortable with this plan.

"I'll arrange for people to ensure Paula's safety!" Christopher promised.

I instinctively looked up and met his serious, deep gaze, my heart skipping a beat.

His solemn promise made me feel a bit uneasy.

"Mr. Collins, this is too much trouble for you. Thank you so much. Having a boss like you is truly a blessing." I genuinely felt this way.

My reservations about him were personal.

He had no real flaws in my eyes.

Originally, I thought his liking for Marlowe was a flaw, but now that I knew Marlowe wasn't his type, he seemed perfect again.

"Is that so? If you want to thank me, remember to keep up with your exercise. I promised Paula, and I intend to keep my word. Besides, employee health is important!"

Christopher reminded me about morning workouts.

Thinking about the quiet mornings and having to work out with him, the atmosphere would definitely be awkward. Plus, being alone with him, I worried about losing control of my emotions.

I felt troubled!

But Christopher didn't give me a chance to refuse. "Once we sort out the Stefan situation, we'll start the workouts."

He specifically reminded me that he had already given me two days to adjust since agreeing to the morning workouts.

When I got back to my office, I was still frustrated, scratching my head.

This affected my work efficiency for several hours.

"Turn left ahead, and Tranquil Sands Retreat is forty miles away!" I heard the GPS voice.

I knew Tranquil Sands Retreat was in the suburbs, and I immediately became alert.

I quickly asked, "Paula, why are you going to Tranquil Sands Retreat? Didn't I tell you not to wander around right now?"

Paula, trying to ease my worry, lied, "Well, Stellar Industries Group is in turmoil, and the current leader wants to stabilize the stock price. They hired me for PR, so I'm meeting them at Tranquil Sands Retreat."

But Paula didn't know that the leader had already scheduled a meeting with Christopher. As his secretary, I knew his schedule, and he wasn't at Tranquil Sands Retreat.

I exposed Paula's lie.

Paula apologized, but I was already eager to stop her.

Despite her reassurances, I didn't have time to ask Christopher for leave and rushed downstairs to catch a cab.

Just then, a car pulled up in front of me. At first, I didn't realize it.

Until Christopher rolled down the window, revealing his handsome face.

"Get in!" Christopher said in a deep voice, then explained, "Paula went to Tranquil Sands Retreat. I'll take you there!"

Hearing this, I didn't hesitate and got in the car.

But my tightly clenched fists and tense face betrayed my worry.

Christopher's voice was low but firm, "You don't need to worry. I had Vincent accompany her and arranged for additional protection. She'll be fine."

Hearing that he had already made arrangements, I felt a bit relieved.

But I still couldn't fully relax until I saw Paula safe and sound in front of me.

However, Christopher had been a great help, so I thanked him, "Mr. Collins, thank you."

Christopher, perhaps to ease my concerns, told me about Vincent's skills. He was a former champion in Starlight City's martial arts scene, and even after a few years, he still looked fit and capable of handling multiple opponents.

He also informed me, "Tranquil Sands Retreat is a property developed by Sloane."

Meaning, since it was Sloane's property, it was more controlled, and that was why she arranged to meet Paula there.

When we arrived at Tranquil Sands Retreat, we saw Vincent waiting for us.

I craned my neck to look around but didn't see Paula, making me immediately anxious, "Why are you alone?"

"Ms. Turner, don't worry. Ms. Ellis is meeting with Sloane. Our people are nearby, protecting her." Vincent explained.

"Who booked the room?" I was worried it might be Sloane, and if she suddenly betrayed us, Paula would be in danger.

When I heard Vincent had arranged it and placed people to protect Paula, I felt a bit embarrassed for overreacting.

I noticed Christopher watching me, so I apologized, "Sorry, Mr. Collins, I was just too worried!"

"No need to explain, I understand," Christopher said, not minding at all.

He reminded me, "I have another appointment here. Let's go!"
