The car pulled up to the expo entrance in no time.

As the president of Summit Innovations Group, Christopher naturally had an invitation.

After handing it over, we were quickly escorted inside.

I had to admit, the expo was impressive. The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence were mind-blowing, and it was hard to even imagine what the future held.

Some companies approached Christopher, and when the moment was right, he'd strike up a conversation.

After chatting for a bit, we were about to move to another section when I noticed a few talented designers. 

I couldn't help but mention to Christopher, "Mr. Collins, I got a call before we boarded the plane. Some other smart car companies are starting to poach AutoForge Workshop's tech staff."

Christopher stayed calm, not surprised at all.

"Yeah, there are always short-sighted folks who think the grass is greener on the other side. We don't need to worry about them."

When Douglas was still at AutoForge Workshop, the tech staff he hired were a mixed bag. After the leadership changed and the company started giving out performance-based bonuses, the internal competition got fierce.

In a competitive environment, some people couldn't handle the pressure and either got eliminated or left on their own.

Most of those wanting to leave now fell into these two categories. Such "talent" didn't fit Summit Innovations Group's hiring philosophy, so Christopher wasn't wrong.

I nodded.

As we arrived at the AI pavilion, I couldn't help but wonder how Marlowe knew we'd be here at this exact time.

Or maybe she had been waiting here all along.

She greeted us with a smile, "Christopher, Ms. Turner, glad you could make it."

Christopher's face turned cold the moment he saw Marlowe. His dislike was almost tangible.

Even if they had a falling out, his reaction seemed excessively harsh.

It reminded me of a joke Paula once made: couples' arguments were easy to resolve; just give it a day.

These two had more than a day, yet Christopher was still holding a grudge. Did it really have to be this way?

I wasn't particularly close to Marlowe, so I just nodded in acknowledgment when she greeted me.

Then I followed Christopher into the pavilion.

Marlowe seemed oblivious to Christopher's coldness. Maybe she was used to being rejected during interviews, which had given her a thick skin.

She tried to link arms with me, "Since you're in Rosewood City, you should visit industry leaders like Mr. Morgan. I have an interview with him tomorrow. If you want to meet him, I can take you along as my staff."

I had been wondering how to meet someone as influential as Levi Morgan, and here was Marlowe offering a solution.

I didn't find her so annoying anymore.

It was like finding an oasis in a desert.

I looked at Christopher, signaling him to agree.

Christopher didn't respond.

Not wanting to miss the opportunity, I answered vaguely, "Yeah, meeting someone like that would be great."

Since Marlowe brought it up, we had the option to accept or decline.

Seeing Christopher's silence, Marlowe bit her lip and couldn't help but say, "Christopher, since you're focused on AI development, this is a great opportunity you shouldn't miss."

Christopher remained indifferent, "Sure."

Such a simple response left it unclear whether he agreed or not.

I whispered to Christopher, "Mr. Collins, meeting Mr. Morgan is a rare opportunity. It would be a shame to pass it up."

Christopher bluntly told me he was more interested in Magnus Callahan.

He thought Magnus's age, experience, and personality might be a better fit for Hayes.

But we decided to visit both in the afternoon and see who we could meet before making a decision.

In the afternoon, we went to the university's tech pavilion, which focused on projects for kids to nurture their interests and talents.

At the entrance, a middle-aged man with a Jonah Clarke badge stopped us.

"Sorry, everyone entering needs to register. How old is your child?"

He assumed Christopher and I were a couple with a child.

I was about to explain we weren't, but Christopher spoke first, "Five years old."

"That's the perfect age for curiosity. What is your child particularly interested in? You can take them inside to explore."

I looked at Christopher, silently questioning, "When did we have a five-year-old?"

Christopher whispered in my ear, "Hayes's mental age is about five, isn't it?"

Fair enough, but the man still thought we were a couple.

Oh well, for the chance to meet Levi, I could play along.

Levi occasionally taught a class here to engage the kids and spot potential talent.

Since we said we didn't bring our child, we had to say we were here to gather information for them.

The man took our information inside, saying it would be approved soon.

Unexpectedly, Marlowe showed up again. "Isn't it a coincidence we meet here too, Christopher? If you want to see Mr. Morgan, there's no need to go through all this trouble!"

She was probably going to mention the interview again.

Christopher ignored her.

I casually asked, "Weren't you at the expo? How did you end up here?"

Marlowe had a ready answer, "To interview Mr. Morgan, I need to understand him better, so I came to see his class."

I nodded, "Well, you go ahead. We don't want to waste your time."

Christopher agreed with my statement.

Marlowe had no choice but to leave.

After a while, we thought our information would be approved, but the director came out angrily, "You're not welcome here. You're not here for the kids but to see Mr. Morgan. This is deceitful and unacceptable."

We were escorted out.

It was a bit of a setback.

Awkward, but there was nothing we could do.
