"Mr. Collins, is there something else?" I couldn't help but ask.

Christopher looked at me calmly and said, "Remember what I said, any retaliation should be about protecting yourself."

"Got it!" I agreed, though I didn't fully understand his sudden statement. But soon, I realized what he meant, and my heart warmed.

He wasn't upset with my initial thought of revenge because it might damage the company's reputation, but because I was the victim. If the video got out, it would hurt Alan, but it would also tarnish my own reputation.

Christopher was so kind. Just because of a promise he made to my parents to take care of me, he had done so much for me.

After getting the video, I also collected some defamatory remarks about me. Seeing the uniform slander, I guessed it was Alan's doing. He probably used money to turn around any bad reviews about him in the past.

But sometimes, these things could turn the tide for him, and other times, they could be his downfall. I organized everything and sent it to the police station.

After submitting the materials, the police accepted the case and promised to notify me as soon as there were any developments.

"Ms. Turner, if you have any new information, feel free to submit it," the officer reminded me.

"Will do!" I accused Alan of not only sexual harassment but also damaging my reputation.

After finishing everything, I left the police station. I didn't expect to run into Jason. Since Lawrence's incident, we hadn't crossed paths.

"Mr. Cook, long time no see. Are you working on a new case? Thanks again for your help last time," I greeted him, genuinely grateful.

Jason was wearing a dark blue suit. He was always cool and reserved, but unlike Christopher, his coldness seemed to come from seeing too many grim cases.

"I told you, it's my job. This time, you won't thank the wrong person, right?" Jason's rare attempt at a joke reminded me of the last time I thanked the wrong person, thinking it was Paula who helped.

"No, I won't. Don't worry! But I should thank both you and Mr. Collins. How about I treat you both to dinner sometime?"

"No need!" Jason, true to his nature, declined directly.

But he was curious enough to ask, "Is this about Lawrence's case?"

I had already divorced Lawrence and knew his fate, so I shook my head. "No, it's another case."

Jason gave me a meaningful look. I felt a bit embarrassed. It seemed like I always had one issue after another.

He asked, "Is it about Alan?"

I was surprised Jason knew about my situation. Or maybe my conflict with Alan had spread quickly.

Jason seemed to read my confusion and explained, "I recently took on a case involving Alan harassing female employees at the company. Naturally, I noticed your involvement with him. If you have evidence, could you share it with me?"

His words made my eyes light up. He was the best criminal lawyer. With his help, I was confident I wouldn't lose the case against Alan.

Paula had just told me about Alan harassing female employees. There were at least five cases. Such a person should be in jail as soon as possible.

"I do. I'll send it to you. By the way, are you interested in taking on my case too?" Since it was related to Alan, he probably already had some evidence, which would be beneficial for me.

"Sure, we've worked together before. You know the process. I'll have Fallon contact you to sign the contract. If you have new evidence, you can provide it to me."

"Great, thank you." I was thrilled. With him on board, I felt victory was within reach.

This was a rare opportunity. My case wasn't that big, and even with money, it might be hard to get his time.

Since Christopher gave me half a day off to go to the police station, I called Paula to meet up.

But Paula was busy and said she'd get back to me later to set a time.

Unexpectedly, Una somehow found out where I was. Or maybe she never really left and followed me when I left the company.

She had changed from her sharp demeanor in the morning to a pitiful one, begging for my help, "Melinda, please don't go. No matter what, help me. Don't be so heartless, okay?"

I was really annoyed by Una's persistence and stepped back to distance myself from her. "Why should I help you? We have nothing to do with each other. If you keep bothering me, I'll call the police. You must know where I just went, right?"

Una's face turned pale, clearly scared by my threat.

Just as I thought my threat worked and was about to leave, she became agitated.

"Don't go! Do you hear me? Do you think you can scare me? I'm not afraid. You owe me, so you must help me! You're a flirtatious woman, and being friends with you is unlucky. But I lost my job because of you. Even if the police come, they'll side with me. I'm not afraid of you."

If she didn't sound so weak, I might have believed she wasn't afraid of the police. "Really not afraid? Did you really lose your job? Feeling guilty and can't answer?" I threw a few questions at her.

"I begged you, and you have no sympathy. You even doubt me. What good does this do me? I just want a stable job to earn money." At first, she denied everything.

I looked down at her. "No benefit? Really? There's plenty. Money, power, what did Ophelia promise you? You're just a pawn in her game against me. I'm curious, what did she offer you to make you risk your career and even jail to set me up? If there was a mirror, I'd want you to see what you've become."

When I first met Una, she was so pure and a bit shy. Though she was just plain-looking, I found her beautiful in a natural way. Maybe this was what they meant by "beauty comes from within."

In such a short time, she had lost all traces of her former self.
