Most people who played golf were pretty well-off, so it was easy for them to tell who was who.

Paula, being the daughter of the richest man in Starlight City, always had the best of everything. Even though she wasn't decked out in jewelry today, her necklace and the way she carried herself made it clear she was someone important. 

It didn't take long before she was chatting and playing a round of golf with the others, getting even closer to them.

Paula casually brought up the topic of her not getting a refund.

"How could that assistant be so bold? Must be someone from the sticks with no vision," one of the women said. She had been at the golf course with Paula that day and stayed to listen out of curiosity. She thought she knew the most about the situation and blurted it out.

The others immediately started asking questions. "Really? Doesn't she know that everyone here is well-off? Instead of chasing after a small refund, she should work hard and maybe meet someone who can help her."

Of course, it also depended on luck and ability.

As the person involved, Paula was asked for more details. She took the opportunity to mention Stefan. "I heard Stefan treats her well. If she plays her cards right, isn't that better than a small refund?"

After all, getting that money was just a temporary win. Eventually, it would be found out. But Stefan had a high salary and commissions, which could be a long-term benefit.

"Someone from the countryside, with such a small-minded attitude, Stefan probably wouldn't be interested," someone who knew a bit more couldn't help but say.

Paula, keeping her cool, asked, "What do you mean by that? Do you know something?"

"Yeah, tell us!" The others encouraged the person who had spoken.

"I saw Stefan with someone from the Ellis family…" She stopped herself, realizing it wasn't wise to say too much, especially since the Ellis family was well-off and best not to offend.

So she quickly changed her tone, "We're just gossiping, don't take it seriously. I was just talking off the top of my head."

Paula and the others nodded, "Yes, just chatting."

But the person who had spoken decided to keep quiet after that, afraid of saying too much.

Paula and I realized we wouldn't get any more useful information, so we decided to leave after a while.

Still, we had a lead. Stefan was getting too close to someone with the last name Ellis. If we investigated from this angle, we might find something soon.

If we found out that woman was married, that would be even better. With her good family background, her husband must be well-off too. If he found out, he wouldn't tolerate his wife's affair.

Even if Paula didn't act, Stefan would be in big trouble.

With this clear direction, Vance continued the investigation, and soon he sent Paula and me a list of the most likely suspects.

I couldn't help but say, "Vance is amazing. Ever since we got him, everything's been so much easier."

Paula smiled proudly, "Of course, I introduced him!"

After some more praise, I got to the point. "So, we have three Ellis members. Only one is the real deal. What's your plan?" I asked Paula.

Paula was confident, "It's simple. We have the video of Stefan and that woman. We'll send it to all three. The real one will definitely panic and respond."

Sure enough, Paula sent the video to the three women named Ellis.

One of them quickly responded, clearly panicked: [Who are you? Where did you get this video? What do you want?]

She then realized her mistake and quickly retracted the message.

But it didn't matter. We got the response we needed to identify her.

One of the others replied with just a question mark after a while.

"What do you think?" Paula asked me.

"The one who replied quickly is definitely involved. Otherwise, she wouldn't have reacted like that," I said confidently.

As for the other two, the one who replied with a question mark seemed like a normal reaction to a strange video. The one who didn't reply at all might not be involved.

Paula, however, had a different take. "Melinda, what if the one who didn't reply is also involved but is just better at keeping calm?"

I was shocked, "How could that be? What would they gain?"

It was hard to imagine.

Paula, being from the wealthy circle, was unfazed. "People say that when you have everything, you start looking for excitement. Stefan is good-looking and charming. Some rich wives might not have much status at home, but they enjoy the attention outside. They get emotionally involved, and then… you know."

Thanks, but I really didn't want to know!

"I sent the messages from my phone. They'll figure it out soon," Paula checked the time.

"With their resources, they'll find out in less than half an hour. They won't confront me directly; they'll send Stefan," Paula said confidently.

Sure enough, Stefan called soon after.

I gave Paula a thumbs up. She really understood people and had Stefan wrapped around her finger.

Stefan was very polite on the phone, "Paula, I know I've caused you trouble, but it was all a misunderstanding. You know I've always cared about you. Can you let this go?"

"Is that why you called?" Paula pretended not to know his real purpose, mocking him.

Stefan was at a loss for words but continued to apologize on behalf of his colleague.

Paula, losing patience, said, "If you're pleading for your colleague, I'm not petty. We can discuss compensation, and I might forgive."

The real issue was Stefan's problem, not hers. If he wanted to play games, she'd play along.

She hung up, leaving Stefan likely frustrated on the other end.
