I was in a bit of a bind. "Sorry, the person isn't in Rosewood City right now, but don't worry, I'll get someone over right away," I said, pretending to make a call.

Cassius, however, said, "If they're not here, We'll just go to them. Why make a fuss?"

"I'm a teacher, I can't just go looking for a student," Magnus grumbled.

Cassius continued to persuade, "Why not? If the student is smart enough, it's perfectly normal for the teacher to seek them out."

"No way!" Magnus was still unwilling to compromise.

Christopher chimed in at the right moment, "There's an antique auction in Starlight City in a few days. They'll have some rare paintings. If you're interested, I can get you the best seats."

He was good at seizing opportunities. Just by standing nearby and listening to a few words, he could analyze the old men's interests and speak up at the perfect time.

But he didn't directly say he'd buy the items for them, which showed respect.

Cassius saw Magnus wavering and added one of his own antique paintings to the offer.

Magnus, worn down, finally agreed.

I was immediately thrilled.

Christopher assured them, "Don't worry, I'll make all the arrangements for your trip to Starlight City. You won't have to worry about a thing."

The two old men started packing their things.

While they were packing, Vincent had already booked our return tickets.

We all headed to the airport.

When we got out of the car, Christopher and I offered to carry their things, but the old men refused and carried their own belongings.

As we walked, Cassius suddenly asked, "Young lady, is this your boyfriend? He's a good match for you!"

I quickly shook my head, "No, Mr. Blackwood, you've got it wrong. We're not a couple. He's my boss, Mr. Christopher Collins from Summit Innovations Group…"

I stopped mid-sentence, worried that Magnus, who didn't like businessmen, might dislike Christopher.

To my surprise, Magnus took over the conversation, revealing Christopher's identity and even mentioning the new models from AutoForge Workshop and the company's design philosophy, including some AI features used by Hayes.

I was impressed, "Mr. Callahan, you're amazing. I didn't expect you to know all that."

Magnus, not wanting to be flattered, replied, "Don't try to butter me up. I recognized Christopher right away."

Cassius, seeing Magnus's attitude, said, "A little praise won't hurt. Why are you acting like this towards the young lady?"

"I have a good memory. I don't need her praise. Unlike you, who forgets things and can't even find your way home."

Magnus's casual remark was typical of their bickering relationship.

But when Cassius said, "I don't want to forget. It's because I'm sick," looking pitiful, Magnus immediately softened.

Their relationship made me think about how Paula and I might be in many years. We wouldn't bicker like them, but our friendship would only grow stronger with time.

Just after we got off the plane, as I was about to ask the old men if they wanted to meet Hayes first or rest at the hotel, Marlowe called.

I found it odd that she always called me instead of Christopher, even though she was so focused on him.

"Ms. Turner, I've set up a meeting with some AI experts and professors. They're free for dinner and some fun. It's a great opportunity, so I thought of inviting Christopher. What do you think?" Marlowe sounded smug.

She probably felt proud of herself for being able to connect with these important people, especially after seeing us in a tough spot.

I replied directly, "Ms. Grey, sorry, but that won't be possible. We're already back in Starlight City, so dinner is out of the question."

Marlowe, clearly hearing me, asked, "Is Christopher with you?" But I could sense the anger in her voice.

"Yes, Mr. Collins is with me." For some reason, her displeasure made me feel better. It lifted the gloom from her previous scheming.

God had been kind to me, letting me meet Cassius and persuading Magnus.

"I thought you were supposed to meet Levi? Why did you leave suddenly? Even if you couldn't meet Levi, didn't I say I could help you get an interview?"

At this point, she still thought we were fixated on Levi.

I interrupted her, shattering her delusion, "No need. We've already met the person we needed to."

And we had successfully brought them to Starlight City, exceeding our expectations.

Although Magnus had stated he needed to see the person first before deciding, Christopher and I were confident that Hayes's intelligence and talent would impress him.

Marlowe, perhaps feeling frustrated because of being repeatedly rejected, finally dropped her pretense, "Ms. Turner, are you deliberately preventing Mr. Collins from meeting the important people I introduced? Let me tell you, Mr. Collins brought you on this trip to find a teacher for Hayes. Don't let your personal feelings affect Hayes's future, or I won't be polite. You claim to have found someone important. Who exactly is it?"

Where was this concern earlier?

Hearing Marlowe's words, I almost laughed in anger.

Why didn't we get to meet Levi? Because of Marlowe's interference.

Didn't she know we were looking for a teacher for Hayes back then? Why didn't she care about Hayes then?

Sometimes she might genuinely care for Hayes, but other times, it felt like she used him as a tool, especially now that he was capable. She loved using this tool even more.

"Sorry, you'll have to ask Mr. Collins about that," I replied coldly.

Marlowe seemed to want to say more.

I didn't want to deal with such a hypocritical person, so I reminded her, "Ms. Grey, do you want to know now? Should I hand the phone to Mr. Collins?"

Implying that Christopher had heard everything she said.

"Are you threatening me? Let me tell you, I…" Marlowe, thinking I was bluffing, retorted sharply.

I handed the phone to Christopher, "Mr. Collins, Ms. Grey has a question for you!"

Before Christopher could take the phone, Marlowe hung up.

Was it guilt that made her avoid talking to Christopher? She only dared to act tough in front of me.
