Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 10
Ashley pov
Yesterday was tough, but today has to be a good day. I judge that by the fact that this time, I don’t wake up with Ethan hovering over my bed. That might be because I locked my door, but also, maybe he finally realized that I need some privacy.
Glancing at the small clock on my nightstand, I grin. It’s early, somehow I managed to wake up before the three mad men did.
There’s no time to waste, so I kick off my sheets and tip-toe to the bathroom. Since I’m stuck with a limited time frame, I shower, brush my teeth and get dressed faster than ever before.
I grab my books and sneak out of my room. Standing in a common area feels a little weird, seeing how no one is here, but also kind of eerie - I’m still scared someone might catch me here.
The last thing I want is to run into one of them. A noise coming from one of the bedrooms startles me out of my thoughts, pushing me to bolt out of the shared apartment before someone sees me.
I wouldn’t mind if it would be Ethan, at least he’s nice. The rest, yeah, not so much. Everett wouldn’t be half as bad if he tried, but Elias - he really is a grade A asshole.
Once I step out in the long hall, I shiver. “Shoot, I should have grabbed a jacket or something,” I mutter, wrap my arms around myself and start walking.
I have no idea where I’m going, but away from the triple trouble sounds like a great plan.
Somehow, I end up wandering around the schoolyard. The first period hasn’t started yet, so I decide maybe sitting down by a tree could be a good idea. There are some tests I have to prepare for, so I open the chemistry book and start reading.
After a good while, I hear voices somewhere in the distance. At first, I ignore them and try to focus on the words in the book, but soon, more voices join, there are some shouts and hollers, and soon enough, there’s so much noise, I can’t tell a from b apart anymore.
Groaning, I slam the book closed and get to my feet. While all my instincts scream I should stay away from whatever is happening, I can’t help the feeling that pulls me closer to the ruckus.
Not far away from me has formed a crowd, seemingly surrounding someone.
I try to be careful as I walk past a few people to steal a glance of what is happening. There, in the middle of the crowd is a scrawny-looking boy, being made into the bud of the joke by some bullies.
Anger immediately surges through me. I know the bully in question all too well.
Stepping forward, I snarl his name to catch his attention. “Steven!”
All eyes instantly focus on me and for a brief moment, I regret my action. I hate being the center of attention, but it’s too late to change anything.
“Ash fucking Kingston. To what do I owe the displeasure, huh?” Steven snarls, showing off just how much of an asshole he can be.
I raise an eyebrow, drop my books and cross my arms in front of my chest. “The one and only. I suppose you can thank the Goddess herself. Are you itching for another repeat of our last fight? Looks like you’re still struggling with your weak spot and I just so happen to be very damn fast - one kick and you’re down. Or… Maybe I should tell everyone around here what that sweet spot is? I could keep your secret since I’m a kind person, but I don’t think you deserve it if you bully those weaker than you.”
Steven’s face pales. Everyone around us starts urging me to share Steven’s secret, which I’m sure many want to use against the asshole. Honestly, he deserves it and he knows it.
“So? What is it going to be? Are we sharing secrets or are we leaving the poor thing alone?” I ask, pinning him down with a warning glare.
Oh, I’m so going to spill the beans if he doesn’t back down. I’m so damn ready, never been more ready than I am now.
Steven clears his throat, looks around and steps back, dropping his shoulders in defeat. “I’ll get your ass, Kingston. One of these days and you won’t even see what came for you.”
It’s a threat, of course, but I pay no mind to it. The same as I ignore the looks from others. Some of the gathered students look at me in awe while others, mainly Steven’s friends, glare at me, and a few look like they really hate me. Better for me - I won’t have to avoid them if they do the job for me.
While the rest of the crowd just watches me, I approach the guy on the ground. I offer him my hand and flash a quick smile to encourage him.
His hand trembles as he carefully places it in mine. It’s a little odd to hold a hand just as big as mine, but I quickly shake off the feeling. We’re surrounded by overgrown men, of course someone my size is a rarity around here.
First, as soon as he gets to his feet, I nod my head in the direction I came from and he silently agrees to follow me. As we start walking, another student rushes to my side and hands me the books I dropped. “Oh, thank you so much, I already forgot about those,” I mutter and chuckle at the blush on his cheeks.
These guys, they’re acting like children and clearly, the majority of them don’t know what is a simple act of kindness. It proves when the guy who gives me the books whispers, “no, thank you. You were the only one brave enough to stand up against Steven. He’s a dick and Anno here didn’t deserve that.”
Nothing more is said as the guy leaves and soon, the crowd starts minding their own business as I lead the guy away from everyone.
Once we reach the tree I sat at earlier, we sit down and I offer him my hand again. “Nice to meet you, Anno, I’m Ash. Let’s be friends, yes?”
He flashes me a brilliant smile, shakes my hand and nods. “Thanks for saving me there, by the way.”
Anno’s voice is so soft and quiet, I barely catch on to the words he speaks. But on top of that, what really surprises me is his scent. Just to make sure I’m not dreaming, I sniff the air around him and arch an eyebrow, “an omega? In an Academy that accepts only Alphas? Color me surprised.”
Anno shrugs, “yeah, family has a lot of money, they want the best education I can get and all that. Pretty much explains how I ended up in this hell hole.”
“Well, if nothing else, at least you’re getting a friend out of this ordeal. It’s not ideal, but better than nothing, if you ask me.” I offer.
Anno smiles and points a finger at the chemistry book. “You’re struggling with that? I’m kind of known around here as a nerd because I really dig chemistry. Since you helped me out, I can return the favor by tutoring you. If you want, of course.”
“You know what, Anno?” I grin and open the book. “I think this is the start of a great friendship.”
