Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 62
Ashley pov
Initially, Elias suggested he could carry me around to move forward, but once he realized that wouldn’t get us far, he left me sitting by a tree and went looking for a shelter nearby.
His thought process was that it’s best to let me rest and start healing - the mission could wait.
That’s how we both ended up inside yet another cave. Me, laying in his sleeping bag while Elias set up the fire, made some food and sat on the guard.
This night, unlike the previous, he didn’t join me. It’s clear he’s becoming weird ever since learning I’m not a guy, but I try to pay little mind to it.
Also, waking up feels different too. Yesterday, I woke up in a tangled mess with Elias, while this morning, he’s nudging me awake, gently, whispering for me to wake up with a smile across his lips.
“Ash, you need to wake up. It’s morning already, I know you’re still hurting, but I’ll deal with the task alone if needed. You must eat something to build back your strength.” He whispers.
As I blink my eyes open, the first thing I see is the plastic travel glass he’s holding near me. “Here, drink some water,” Elias whispers.
Slowly, I sit up in the sleeping bag and reach out a hand to take the cup. “Thank you. Seriously, I appreciate this so much, you have no idea.”
While there is a newfound tension between us, he’s being so nice, caring and attenuative that everything else just doesn’t matter. So much so that I almost wish we could stay here forever - just the two of us.
“I never asked for your real name, but before you blurt it out - don’t. I don’t want to accidentally blurt out your name instead of the one you’ve chosen for yourself. Is Ash still fine?” As he speaks, a light tint of red colors his cheeks, catching me off guard completely.
Is Elias, the big bad biker wolf, blushing? I need to write this down, or better yet, take a photo and frame it so I never forget this once in a lifetime experience.
“It’s fine,” I offer him a quick smile and bring the cup to my lips, rather focusing on drinking the water than this conversation.
Elias lets me be for a moment while he plates me some food and mutters something only he can hear. After we both eat, he lets me stand aside while he gathers everything, packs our stuff and tosses both bags on his back.
Leaving the cave, he asks millions of questions if I need his help, despite being the only one with actual weight on his back. This new side of Elias is weird, I’d even say endearing..
Sure, there’s still some tension between us, I can’t deny that much, but his attitude towards me is changing. It’s even more noticeable when he finds a note, attached to one of the trees that lists our next task.
“Shit, fucking damn it,” he hisses and crumples the paper in his large fist.
“What?” I ask, looking around for any answers, but the jungle has gotten quiet again, which has to mean only Elias knows what’s going to happen next.
“The stupid task,” Elias growls. “It would be fine if you were okay, but this shit is too dangerous. Especially for you. You’re already barely healing, if you get involved, there might be no you to return to the fucking Academy.”
I watch him pace around in frustration, more whispered curses leaving his lips.
In an attempt to calm him, I clear my throat and speak up. “It’s fine. If the task becomes too much on me, I can always call it quits. The Professor will understand the situation. This whole thing was built as a team spirit exercise, not to get possibly lethally hurt and still push through that kind of thing. I think we can manage. I can manage. Put some faith in me.”
Elias stops his pacing, looks at me and his gaze seems to soften. “I have all the faith in you, Ash, don’t you ever doubt it. Just because I’m a dick for brains guy who likes to push your buttons doesn’t mean I’m oblivious to your abilities. I’ve seen you train, fight and go through challenges worse than this one. I know you can do this, but it doesn’t mean I won’t worry. Team building, baby, you’re my buddy now.”
He flashes me a smile to ease the tension yet doesn’t even understand what that one word of endearment and smile are doing to me.
Deep down, I’m a puddle in front of him. ‘Baby.’ One, simple and stupidly primitive word, yet it does unimaginable things to me. If only this man really wanted it, I would become a clay in his hands - perfect for him to use and abuse me until he would form the perfection he’d want to keep.
Shaking my head, I quickly rid myself of the thoughts and focus on reality. “Let’s go then,” I beam to encourage him.
Elias returns the smile and offers me his hand, for support I suppose but I still accept it, bashing in the momentary bliss. For him, it’s just helping me, but for me - this is so much more. A fantasy comes true.
And as the day progresses, Elias only proves how capable he truly is. He first leads us towards the place on the note and puts his all into the task. Elias has to solve riddles; each wrong answer triggers a trap with a weapon that could kill.
He’s acting like a true gentleman and protects me from everything that flies or is shot at my way, making sure I don’t get hurt. He also helps me whenever I can’t figure something out, especially on yet another obstacle course.
Eventually, we find the last clue, which gives us the location of the said ‘enemy.’ It’s not an actual person as it turns out, just a location with a stupid flag that we have to take back to the Academy.
Attached to the flag is a little map that shows us how to get out of here and back to the building where the Professor is waiting for us.
Elias still holds my hand as he leads the way and once we finally emerge from the jungle and notice the buildings in the distance, we both groan in relief.
“I can still hold your hand until we get closer. Don’t want to embarrass you or anything,” he offers, and my heart nearly shatters at the doubt in his voice.
Elias is full of himself, he knows who he is and how capable he is, so hearing him so unsure of himself, listening to the undertone of doubt is truly sad.
“It’s fine, but I do have a favor to ask,” I mutter and look up at him, half hoping he won’t demand for me to tell what it is.
“Your secret?” He asks, raising an eyebrow.
I nod. “Yes. Could you please keep this secret a secret?”
Elias thinks for a moment and grins. “Am I the only one who knows it then? Is this us only thing now?”
A chuckle that leaves me says it all. “Anno knows, obviously. He figured that out pretty quickly. Also, his friend knows too, she helped me with something rather private. You and they are the only ones. So? Can I count on you to keep it?”
Elias extends his pinky finger to me, and I don’t even think as I lock mine with him. With a blinding smile, he nods and whispers, “the secret’s safe with me.”
