Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 51
Ashley pov
“Anno, what did he just say?” I mutter as I reach out to grab my best friend’s arm for support.
My stomach starts flipping on itself as the dark cloud of helplessness drags over me once again. Holding onto Anno is the only way I can convince myself this is reality, not a dream we’re all sharing.
“Try to act unaffected, Ash. He’s still talking, someone asked questions so he’s repeating himself. Let’s hope this meeting ends soon and we can get out of here as soon as possible,” Anno whispers and places his hand over mine for support.
I can feel gazes on me, so intense, they burn my skin, and while I know who is responsible for that, I pay them no attention. The triplets are the least of my worries, especially now.
“Just like I said, crown prince Kaiden has decided to join our Academy. I know it’s a big change for many of you, it’s the same for the staff, we all will have some challenges and new adjustments to make. However, I believe we’re fully capable of following through with this. We’re a team, right?” The principal speaks over the voices, earning a few chuckles and boo’s.
“Oh, come on,” he snarls. “Let’s focus on the positive aspects of this situation. I get that most of you have grown friendships, but it’s not like he will disturb anything. And to add, think about how prestigious your diplomas will be after you graduate and tell people, potential employers, that you graduated side by side with the king himself? Yeah, that’s right, keep in mind that boy is about to become a king. Better be kind or there will be price to pay.” The principal finishes his awful speech, waves everyone off and storms out of the room.
I’m not the only one who’s shaken by the announcement. Anno looks downright murderous, as I catch a glimpse of the triplets - they too look very annoyed - and actually, everyone does.
While I try to focus on my breathing, I still hear some of the students gossip. We all know attending this Academy comes at a great price only the wealthiest can afford, but getting in after the school year has officially started is downright impossible, no matter the money or power you have.
Well, I suppose except if you’re the next king himself. It seems everyone around me doesn’t shy away from voicing their anger at the stunt Kaiden pulled. Nobody likes people like him.
I realize that Anno is leading me out of the room only when we enter the hall and he helps me lean against the wall.
My eyes struggle to focus on one thing, all I see is a blur of students running past us and hear far too many loud voices. It’s impossible to focus on anything in a mess like this one.
However, the issue is fixed soon enough since my senses finally kick in the right gear when Anno is grabbed and yanked away from me. The yelp that leaves him is one of pain and soon, I’m surrounded by very angry-looking triplets.
“What the fuck did he do to you?” Ethan snarls.
“Yeah, bet that omega asshole fed you something or spiked your drink.” Everett quickly adds.
For some reason, my eyes travel to Elias, as if he is the one who has the most brains and ability to calm his stupid brothers down. He just shakes his head, crosses his arms in front of his chest, and smirks at me, “you knew better, Ash. You knew moving out was a bad idea and you still did it. My baby brother is very upset, as you can see. Enjoy the consequences,” Elias whispers the last words, winks at me and strides away as if he has no bloody care in the world.
A hand slams into the wall right next to my head, snapping my mind back into reality. As I slowly turn my head, I come face to face with extremely angry looking Ethan. “I asked what the fuck did that bastard do to you? Don’t give me bullshit excuses, there has to be something, otherwise you wouldn’t be reacting to the principal bringing up that shitbag at all. Last time, Ash, the fuck did he do?”
I’m certain all color drains from my face as the puzzle pieces fit back in their places. Ethan knows. He figured out I have a history with Kaiden and he won’t let this go, no matter how I plead, beg or try to squirm out of this bloody situation.
Like the godsent angel he is, Anno pushes Etha’s side in an attempt to get him away from me. Sadly, Ethan doesn’t budge, but at least it drags all the attention away from me.
“Don’t you think he would tell you everything, if only he wanted to? Right now you’re the only shithead, back away, Ash needs to breathe damn it!” Anno hisses.
Well, until he brought this up, I didn’t even think about breathing, so finally, I suck in a greedy breath, so loud and painful that all of the guys jump away from me.
“See?” Anno says a little louder, pointing his finger at me. “What did I tell you? He needs space to breathe, let the guy get back to his senses, all this dominance and power play you’re pulling off here isn’t cool at all. You’re doing more damage than helping.”
It takes Ethan and Everett but a second to realize Anno really is trying his best to protect me, even if he has to protect me from them.
When both finally step away, I wave them off, hoping my silent action will give them the hint to get away, not stick around. One problem at the time, send only one problem, moon Goddess.
“Give Ash some space, you colossal morons. He will talk to you when he’s ready, this isn’t something you demand of wolves who stand lower than you. In this place we’re all equal, regardless of the title.” Anno announces and eventually, both Ethan and Everett walk away, their shoulders low, eyes trained on the floor.
Anno stands next to me and throws his arm around my shoulders, doing his best to show his support. In the meantime, I try to focus on the conversations around us - most are about Kaiden, his sudden decision to join the Academy and what changes might come with his arrival.
After a while, I finally manage to calm down, right in time with the arrival of one of the Professors, who urges us both to return to class. We do as told, I refuse to let go of Anno’s hand even when we take the seat.
“Good day, students. I believe you have heard the exciting news about the changes in our Academy and I’m sure you are just as excited as everyone else is. Since there are a few things we still need to prepare for the prince’s arrival, all I’m tasked to do today is to share another announcement with you. The prince is used to certain standards for everything in his life, we must implement those to school activities as well. We are creating an extra class of students who will learn side by side with the prince. First, I will call out the names from the list and then, you must attend another magic class. That will be all for today.”
As the Professor keeps talking, I zone out. The last thing I need is to listen to all the lavish things Kaiden has demanded to be brought here. I saw enough of his lifestyle back in that forsaken pack, I don’t need more.
Well, at least I try to zone out until the Professor starts listing off the names of the students who are about to join the same class as that monster. And of course, just my luck, my name is one of those on the list. Fuck my life.
