Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 114
Kaiden pov
His words push me over the imaginary edge I’ve been holding onto all this time. Without thinking, I follow his lead and jump to my feet to scream, “so that’s what all of this is about? My mother? Is her death the reason why you ignored me all my childhood, just to avoid the burden of reminder I am, huh? And now, all of a sudden, after mistreatment filled years, you need me? Do you hear yourself? How fucking delusional you have to be to act like that?”
“Kaiden, that’s enough!” Gio roars from where he’s standing.
Instead of listening to his threatening warning, I point my finger at him and snarl. “You, keep your fucking nose out of our business. This is between my father and I, not the goddamn outsiders. You proved your ability to sit back while father was spewing his nonsense, so flatter me with the same attitude before I have your head.”
“You won’t kill Gio,” father chuckles, shaking his head in disbelief.
“Oh, but I would,” I snap back and look at him. “The same as I would kill you if need be. Be grateful I’ve followed your silly little rules all this time. If it were up to me, I’d kill you as soon as I was ready to take over the power. Call it a little old school action. Our ancestors killed their parents to take the packs, I don’t mind hopping back on that trend.”
Seeing how serious I am, father raises his hands and takes a step back while Gio moves towards the door, no doubt intent to unlock it and call for backup if I decide to go on a rampage.
“Son, there’s no need to stoop that low. We are as civilized as our kind can be, surely we can talk about our problems rather than go ahead with nothing but our fists, right?” Father suggests, his voice losing all the previous anger and bravado.
Now, he sounds like a scolded child who has understood the importance of listening. Maybe he thinks he’s coming across as a man of understanding, but the reality is that he doesn’t. In my eyes, he looks like someone who understood he fucked up.
And what makes this mess even better is that deep down, both of them know that I could go off and kill everyone in my way, that I am fully capable of acting according to my words and the promises I toss around aren’t as empty as they assumed after all.
“Oh, so now we’re civilized? Were you civilized when I had to run around butt naked and pretend that shit didn’t bother me, huh? Where were your highly trained guards when I needed them? What were they looking at while those bears found their way in your home?”
Both of them remain silent as another idea pops in my mind, so I quickly spit out the question. “Can you imagine exactly how drastically different would be everyone’s reaction if it were you, who stood in front of everyone with a knife against his throat? Tell me how much I mean to you if that shit didn’t matter to you much. You stand here, higher than god, claim you won’t lose me but you’re willing to put my life in danger for some chick? Real classy, real civilized, father.”
He brings his hand to his face and pinches the bridge of his nose, letting out the heaviest sigh I’ve heard. Not for a moment he opens his eyes to glance at me or meet my gaze. “Kaiden, can we not? Can we please, for once, discuss the burning matter without involving something that already happened? Tell me what are you planning to do next and I’ll do my best to support you however I can.”
For a brief moment, I’m taken aback. This attitude has to be a telltale of how old he’s getting since my father never avoids confrontation or another argument. In fact, he’s the first one to jump in as soon as a chance presents itself.
“Fine,” I grumble and drop back on the sofa.
There are plenty of things I could do instead of this, but if I keep arguing, all I do is lose more time. First, I need to find some answers and see if father is willing to give up on his silly mate idea. Other than that, I can go from there.
“I’m glad to see you have grown into a reasonable young man, not much of my impact, of course, but either way, I’m proud of you, Kaiden.” Father says as he finally looks at me.
I might be mistaken, since the old man never shows much emotion, but I’m pretty sure I see a hint of smile playing on his lips.
While I could have any reaction, I decide to nod and return the smile, not focusing on his words. He’s right, though, he didn’t raise me so he can’t come in and take the praise for the man I’ve become, but at least he’s not delusional enough to try to deny the fact.
“So, tell me,” he grumbles and takes a seat across from me. “What are you planning to do now? What is your next step? I could suggest a thing or two, but we’re talking about your life and your mate, so I can’t dictate every single detail.”
“First,” I smirk. “I need to know if I can take your place without her at my side.”
Father shakes his head and looks away. “Before your mother died, I promised I would insist you stay with the woman the moon Goddess blessed you with. I intend to keep the promise, like it or not. And yes, even if I must pay with my life, I will still insist you stay with that girl. It’s what the Goddess intended, we have no right to go against her wishes.”
“In that case,” I full-on grin and lean forward. “I plan to get her back. If the worst happens and I can’t, the backup plan is to kill you and get what I want, with or without her at my side.”
