Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 161

Kaiden pov

The night isn't eventful, I spend the majority of it sleeping on the couch in my office. When the morning comes, I still haven't changed my mind about going along with my best friend's idea.

Going along with Scott's plan, I quickly roughen up my office and slip outside the house unnoticed. If I really want to play off the idea about being kidnapped, I need to try my best to actually create an environment that might alert someone of trouble. Such as a messed up office in my case.

Once I get far enough to not be noticed by the patrol guards or some of the servants who might be out and about, I can finally breathe out a sigh of relief.

“Well, better figure out where my next stop is then,” I mutter under my breath and scan the surroundings.

It's not like I have many options in this situation. I can't go to friends, father will definitely call their parents and they are obligated to be truthful with him.

Hotels, motels and any other establishments like those don't work for me either. It'll be the same thing on top with me, using the credit card father can easily track.

“Suppose wandering the bloody woods it is,” I groan and facepalm myself. Probably should've thought about the course of action before I made this stupid decision.

A little annoyed, I start my journey deeper into the woods. Who knows, I might come across something interesting during this stupid walk too.

Surrounded by nothing but trees and bushes, the darn time drags out so painfully, I seriously consider turning around and going back home so many times, it's not funny anymore.

Just to kill some time, I decide to give Benjamin another call to check how far they have gotten and if there's any progress with their mission.

As soon as I bring the phone to my ear, I actually expect him to reject my call or simply ignore it, but as always, the guy surprises me by answering the call nearly immediately.

“What's up, prince bro?” He chuckles into the phone, sounding like an absolute moron.

“Are you drunk?” Is the first thing I ask. I can't help but wonder if that's the case.

I haven't interacted with Benjamin enough times to be foolish enough and claim I know the guy, but I haven't heard him speak like this ever before, so I'm sure my assumption might be pretty close to the truth.

“Nope, not drunk,” he slurs his words, clearly drunk off his ass.

I laugh at his feeble attempt to lie and shake my head, wondering how I'm supposed to deal with a drunk hunter.

On one hand, I could tell him I'll call later or just hang up the phone and let him sleep off his drunken state. On the other hand, I still want to know if they have gotten any further with their plan at all.

“Okay, okay, you're not drunk,” I laugh, unsure how else to react. “I'm just calling to see if you've gotten any further with the plan. I decided to take a walk through the forest and started wondering if there's a chance I might run into you guys here.”

Benjamin is silent for all but a few seconds until he laughs. The sound isn't one of amusement, I'd rather label it one of ridicule. He isn't laughing with me, he's laughing at me. Stupid prick.

“It's barely morning, pretty thing. Of course we haven't moved our asses yet. Just because we're on a mission you're paying for doesn't mean we're going to rush it. Nice and steady, darlin’, nice and steady.”

The last words sound like he's trying to seduce me, not talk to me and give any updates. I swear, those hunters are a different breed, a whole damn bunch of weirdos.

“Well, in that case, if you're not awfully too far from me and I'm planning to take a spontaneous hike today, we might run into each other after all,” I grumble, trying my best to sound as uninterested as I can.

The last thing I need is for a possibly homosexual hunter to think I'm interested in his company beyond the contract that binds us.

“We might as well,” he agrees, adding extra thickness to his words.

Great, no matter how hard I've been trying to wave off his possible advances, it's clearly not working.

“Okay, bye,” I quickly blurt out and end the call before Benjamin can say something I definitely don't want to hear.

Shoving my phone back into the pocket rather aggressively, I stomp away from where I've been standing for all this time and aim ahead, not really knowing where I'm trying to go.

Time drags out, I'm not sure how long I've been walking around, but Goddess, am I grateful to come across a little waterfall near the bottom of the mountains. I sit next to it and fill my palms with water to drink, mentally cursing myself for forgetting such a simple thing as a water bottle.

But then again, it kind of makes sense that I didn't take one with me. The truth of the matter is that nobody would believe I've been kidnapped if I took water and snacks, so I have to do good with whatever I can find in the forest.

The sound of the water is so calming, as soon as I lean against the tree behind me and close my eyes, I almost fall asleep.

Only almost because I overhear some voices in the distance, nearing me. A few sniffs of the air is enough for me to know those are just humans getting closer to me.

I jump to my feet and walk in their direction until I “accidentally” run into them. One of the girls seems very happy to see me, although at first I don't know why.

All of them speak over each other until one of the group shouts for them to calm down and steps closer to me. “Hey, I'm so glad we ran into you. You must be the boyfriend that pretty girl is waiting for over there,” she grins and points a finger in a direction behind them. “She looks so tired and scared, I think it's best you get to her as soon as you can. Woods can be dangerous, especially if you're traveling solo.”

Just for shits and giggles, I ask them about how the girl looks, giving them a false impression that I am, in fact, heading deeper into the woods to catch up with my girlfriend.

Call this a sign if you will, but as the humans describe this mystery girl, they're describing my mate. Well, damn, my day just got a whole lot better.
