Kaiden, even the loving fucking asshole, sends the maid away and walks around me, his gaze so intense, I feel like my skin is peeling off my body. “Well, well, well,” he drags the words as his hand slowly slides down my arm. “Would you look at what the cat has dragged in? You, my darling, look exquisite.”

I cringe at his words and pull my hands into tight fists to remain frozen on the spot. All of my senses are screaming for me to run away, to punch the ever living hell out of this guy and run.

However, even I understand it’s a bad idea. Even Sam agrees. It’s best to pretend we’re okay with this and disappear when he isn’t paying any attention. And besides, running around in this ugly dress will not only pull unnecessary attention but also make it hard to actually escape.

“I do think you should wear something, hmm,” Kaiden stands in front of me and lets his eyes roam my body. “Something more form-fitting. I want to show off how beautiful my Luna is, make all the onlookers jealous, but this dress hides your natural beauty. Yes, you’ll have to change.” He waves me off.

My jaw nearly hits the floor. That’s all? Just wave me around like some puppet and decide whatever you want? Is that how easy it is for this asshole?

And yet, I don’t dare to object. I would, honestly, be happy to wear anything but this. The less fabric gets in my way during the escape attempt, the better.

Kaiden clears his throat and claps his hands, “maid! Come in!”

Not a second later, Giana’s back in the room, standing next to me, bowing to Kaiden.

I’m not sure what sets him off, but he immediately grabs her by her throat and throws the poor girl against the wall. She’s a rotten person, very evil in her core, but I still don’t like seeing her hurt.

“Who the fuck do you think you are to stand next to my Luna?” Kaiden roars at her. “You are nothing, you don’t stand close to this woman, never will, so don’t let me see you stand side by side with her ever again. Do I make myself clear?”

There’s a murderous look in his eyes, so darn extreme that even I get scared. Just as the hint of fear hits my chest, Kaiden, as if noticing it, returns his gaze back on me and at the same moment, it softens.. What the fuck?

He takes another step closer and it really takes all I have to stay rooted on the spot instead of trying to step away from him. Kaiden lifts his hand to my face, so I brace myself for a slap, but instead, he caresses my cheek and smiles. “Now that you’re with me, you have nothing to worry about. I would never hurt you,” he promises in a gente whisper.

I know it’s a lie, but I still nod in agreement just to get him off my case and his disgusting hand off my skin. The only people who can touch me this freely are my triplet mates, not this asshole.

“That useless piece of crap,” Kaiden says, tilting his head in Giana’s direction. “She will show you where our bedroom is and help you change into another dress. I have a few options there, purchased them this morning for you, so feel free to change whichever you like the most. Make sure she does your makeup and hair, and then, return back downstairs, my love. The guests are arriving and the ceremony will start soon too. Hope you’re excited to become my Luna queen.” He beams.

I nod again.

Kaiden’s gaze hardens as he guides his hand to the back of my neck and grabs it, baring his teeth at me. “Use your words, little mate. Tell me you’re excited to become my queen,” he hisses.

Tears prick in my eyes as I manage to find my voice and repeat his repulsive words. “I’m excited to become your queen, my prince.”

A smug smile spreads across his lips and the next moment, those lips are pressed against mine. Kaiden goes so far as to slide his hand down to my ass to squeeze it, so I gasp and he uses the chance to plunge his tongue into my mouth. I wonder if he can feel that I just vomited in my mouth as soon as his lips touched mine.

When he finally ends the kiss, he presses his forehead against mine and whispers, “if this is how your lips taste, I can’t find out how the rest of you tastes like. Make sure to avoid wearing any underwear, you won’t need it, we won’t stay at the ceremony for longer than necessary. As soon as we exchange those vows,” he grins and guides his hand down, in between my legs to cup me. “This pussy is mine.”

I feel seriously sick to my stomach, but he doesn’t notice it as Kaiden finally releases me, turns me around and slaps my ass to get me going.

Giana, as awful as she is, bless her, grabs my hand and pulls me out of the room. She grumbles something about being wrong about me and the intentions I might have, but then, she shuts down and just guides me to Kaiden’s bedroom.

She doesn’t say too much other than which dress she suggests would be best for more movement freedom. Giana doesn’t outright announce it will be easier to run away wearing something, but she sure implies that.

When I’m changed into another gown and Giana finishes the last touches of makeup, she mutters a weak, “best of luck. I’m sorry,” and drags me downstairs to an open event hall at the back of the house. I don’t remember ever seeing this place before, so I suppose it’s something new they created.

Out of thin air, Kaiden appears at my side. He places his hand on the small of my back, too close to my ass, and guides me towards older looking gentlemen. No pleasantries are exchanged, he just stops and barks. “My Luna queen.” I’m pretty sure this isn’t how the ceremony is supposed to work, but who am I to say anything, right?

The old man in front of us looks at me and waits for me to say something. What? I have no idea.

Just then, Kaiden nudges me and leans closer to whisper, “you’re supposed to address me as your Alpha king now, lovely mate.”

I gulp and look at him just in time to see all color drain from his face as a knife appears out of nowhere and is pressed against his throat.
