I think I'm losing my fucking mind. And not like I'm doing that shit on a daily basis, but for good.

Ever since we found out that there are hunters moving in the same direction those bears took Ash to, I've been as restless as ever.

In fact, I might have tried to attack a guard or two, maybe even did some shit to my brothers and there's a massive possibility that Elias will never have children after the kick I delivered to his balls, and maybe, just maybe, broke more items in this house than I can pay for with a year worth of allowance from my parents.

And that's quite possibly the very reason why my parents decided it's a good idea to lock me in until I calm down.

First, they tried that shit with my bedroom, but I'm a master of escape so that didn't work out how they planned. Once everyone realized I escaped, I got my ass kicked by my brothers and they dragged me to the cells.

On the bright side, unlike other unfortunate souls locked in here, my cell is pretty fancy. I don't have a bucket for pissing and instead can go to the bathroom. Also, I'm lazing on a nice mattress, not a dirty concrete floor. Yeah, a real fucking winners’ accomodation this is.

“So, when am I getting out again?” I ask one of the guards and flash him a shit-eating grin.

These dudes have no right to let me out of the cell, that much I know, they're aware of the fact too, but that doesn't mean I won't mess with them at least a little.

If I'm locked with no entertainment, I might as well create some myself.

“My apologies, we are not allowed to release you unless Alpha or Luna gives us direct commands to do so,” the shortest guard grumbles.

My grin only spreads wider across my lips as I wiggle my eyebrows at the guy. “I know. Must suck, right? Running around like a little figurine with no power. Anyway, when is dinner? I'm starving.”

Both men who stand at my cell exchange glances, their eyes unnaturally large.

“You just ate ten minutes ago,” the shorter one gasps. “How much food can you consume without puking it all out?”

I shrug. “Mom says I'm a growing boy, so I need to keep my tummy full at all times.”

They both exchange another look, this time it isn't shock, but disbelief. By now, they should've understood that I'm messing around, literally fucking with them.

On a more serious note, I'm hungry. Some chicken nuggets sound like a hella good meal right now.

Since the guards decide to ignore me, I sing the old McDonalds song and list down all the animals I can think of. About ten minutes of continuous singing and an amazing ability to jump from sheep to rhinos, the shortest guard has enough of my bullshit.

“There are no rhinos on the farm! Those can be found in Africa somewhere, not on a regular farm with cows, sheep's and definitely not the goddamn giraffes! For the love of the moon Goddess, if you want to sing, at least sing the songs properly and don't involve something that has no business to be in the places you butcher your songs about.”

“Ouch,” I fake a cry and slap a hand over my chest. “Hurt my feelings, why don't you?” The guy looks a little panicked until I add, “do it again, daddy, I like it.”

“That's it, I'm done, I'm out of here, you can look after the crazy one on your own, Dom,” the guard hisses, forces the keys in the other guy's hand and walks away.

Or stomps? From where I stand, he looks like an angry gnome. Maybe my parents decided they need to steal the mystical forest creatures and make them work?

As soon as the angry one disappears from my view, I turn my attention to the other guard, who looks more confused than angry.

“Dom? Hmm, that's short for dominant, yes?” I ask and grin.

“No,” he clears his throat and shakes his head. “It's not short for anything, actually. That's my name - Dom.”

Shit, he looks so truthful and genuinely confused that I don't feel like messing around with this guy anymore. Instead, I arch an eyebrow. “This is the first time I hear about someone's name being the short name for another name. Why so?”

Dom turns to me, shrugs and smiles. “Don’t know. I was adopted from an orphanage and that's the name I came with, I suppose.”

Yeah, I definitely don't feel like messing around with an orphan kid. Knowing a little bit of his background sucks because if I decide to push his buttons, I'll later feel guilty for giving a guy like him a hard time.

“You don't have to be an ass to anyone here. We're just around to make sure you don't escape until the meeting ends. The Elders are here,” Dom grumbles, as if he has no business sharing these details with me.

As soon as my mind processes what he said, I jump up and rush to the cell bars, nearly plastering myself against them to whisper, “what the fuck are Elders doing here? Didn't dad make it clear those sand filled assholes aren't allowed to step their foot on our lands.”

Dom gulps, looks around and leans closer. “I'm not allowed to share this, but I will simply because I'm not an enemy or a prison guard, I'm just someone with a simple task and I'd appreciate it if you don't give me too much of a hard time. Can we have a deal like that? I tell you what I know and you wait for your release without driving me insane?” He whispers, sounding a little vary.

I scan our surroundings and quickly agree, eager to know the secret before someone comes around and ruins my chance.

“The Elders were invited by your parents. Once they learned all the details of what's been going on with your kidnapped friend, they decided the king's pack has to be stopped. It's one thing to reject a mate and regret that afterward, but kidnapping someone by drugging them just to force the mate bond in place by law is an offense punishable with death. They've gone too far. At this point, it doesn't matter that their plans were ruined, they've committed a vile crime and your parents want to see them pay for what they've done.”
